Rating: Summary: Barker's best; also why I don't read Barker anymore... Review: Weaveworld must be recognized as perhaps the best contemporary fantasy work written in some time, and probably will continue so. I feel it is Barker's best fantasy, with the one outstanding quality being the prose itself. Written with true British leanings, it gave the story an extra mark of clarity and power. Sadly, this strength has lacked in all his other contributions. I've tried his other books, but was not impelled past a third of thier bulky lengths. With the exeption of perhaps Sacrement, which I haven't read yet, I've kept me away from Barker's novels. But Weaveworld, ultimately, delivers
Rating: Summary: Simply amazing. Easily the best fantasy-horror book ever. Review: A man chases pigeons across Liverpool and discovers paradise. Calhoon has found the Fugue, the long hidden home of the Seerkind and their raptures. But as Cal finds, all is not well in paradise, for forces align against the Seers and their home, seeking to avenge and exploit. And the Scourge renews it's quest to destroy them all...
In Weaveworld, Clive Barker has created a masterpiece that will live on in your mind long after you finish. With an intriguing cast of characters, a fantastic landscape, and a sweeping, epic storyline, Weaveworld is sure to satisfy even the most jaded reader

SEX, BLOOD, HATE AND LOVE, THE MOST BASIC INGREDIENTS IN THIS MOST UNBASIC TALE, A MUST READ FOR ANYONE SEARCHIN FOR SOMETHING THEY'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE, A TRUE ORIGINAL IN THE MOST ENLIGHTENED SENCE
Rating: Summary: Taking apart another world Review: Can you sew? Well, neither can I! The last book I read by the author Clive Barker was called Weaveworld. Imagine a magical loom weaving together pieces of thread to make a carpet. Now it's not ordinary thread being used, but pieces of reality itself! Rivers, streams, lakes, pieces of land, houses, and even people (they are called Seerkind and are hiding in the carpet 'cause us humans want to destroy all of them) are weaved into this carpet! For generations this carpet has been protected by a custodian (no, they don't get paid) until now...the last custodian has died and naturally the bad guys want to get their hands on this kingdom. Free slaves and a kingdom to rule over sounded very good to the evil salesman in the story. Along with good guys who have magical powers, a dark Virgin goddess, Cuckoos (humans), an insane angel from heaven and a magical carpet to be unraveled, you have an awesome and totally mind-blowing book
Rating: Summary: Unforgettable! Review: I read this book nearly eight years ago. I still own my original copy, but have had to go retrieve it fom those I have lent it to. It is the one book I continue to recommend, over and over, to my friends. When the subject of "good books" comes up, I never fail to mention Weaveworld! It is truly an epic adventure out to the limits of imagination!

Rating: Summary: The book that should be read by everyone.. Review: Some books are just mild placebos to mitigate the tiresome life we lead on everyday. This book is the greatest achievement on doing exactly this! When you watch your life on retrospective you may find something that you don't like, this is the time to look on to the other side, where subworlds can be found under the carpet, where our problems are ludicrous compared to other's, where fantasy and reality can play together without destroying our lives like toys in the hands of children.
This is not about how well written the prose is, this is about the characters' destiny and our helplessness to interfere.
Clive Barker wrote Weaveworld thinking of the way the worlds should be, the antagonist just appears like in every real story...

Rating: Summary: Greatest book I've ever read! Review: This epic weaves the tale of a lost world that's hidden in a carpet. Lots of great action and a great villain in Shadwell. Very hard to put down
Rating: Summary: A twisted jewel of a tale meant for the brave and mature. Review: He weaves a fresh tale from old symbols of our culture and spits it back into our faces gently. One would call it shocking, but deep down inside we have seen these things before, we recognize these lands and situations from our dreams as much as from our days.
He brings us to this place with the same skill that makes Salman Rushdie more than just a political martyr, but a living literary legend. His stories are classics, his nightmares are beautiful. Buy the stupid book, its more than worth the money.
Rating: Summary: It made my heart ache. Review: When I first picked up a book by Clive Barker, it was one of the first books that I thought i would treasure forever. It was "The Theif of Always," given to me by my father. I have read it more times than i can count. Then one day, i picked up "Weaveworld," and I could not let it go, I could not put it down. It had to be the best book i have ever read in my short life of sixteen years. When i read it, it made my heart ache. I wanted to be there, in the Fugue. I wanted so much to see the splendors of Shadwell's coat, and the wonders of Immacolota's magic. I wanted to be Calhoon, to see the wonderous and strange land stretched out before me. But it is, of course, all fantasy. I will never see the Weaveworld, will never step where Calhoon, Suzanna, Immacolota, or Shadwell once stood. It is, after all, a fantasy, and epic adventure written by the master of fiction, Clive Barker himself. And it makes my heart ache to think of it. But who knows, maybe Mr. Barker has seen into a world that onl
Rating: Summary: Jules Vernes could have dreamed it. Review: Weaveworld is like a dream that Jules Verne could have made. a fantastic story between reality and imaginary. A world into a world. If you have a great imagination, read this book. It's simply an extraordinary journey waiting for you. Great characters, weirdest and scariest situations. It's 100% Barker made without a doubt. You'll think of Hellraiser, Nightbreed...
