Rating: Summary: May the Way of Dreams Take You Where You Want to Go Review: All in all this is the most enthralling of the Diablo books. I started reading this and I could not put it down (which was not the case with Legacy of Blood). The best part of this book is the very personal character of Darrick Lang. Once you read this book you will feel as if you know what he has gone through since childhood, in essence you will feel like Mat (Darrick's best friend in the book). Also the idea of using a demon that was not a Prime Evil as the antagonist was fresh and kept me on my feet. We all know that Diablo is the Lord of Terror but how many people can say they know about Kabraxis. The story is not confusing at all as another review said and the character cycling makes sure that the reader is not in the dark during the course of the book. Buy this book and you will never forget it.

Rating: Summary: ZZZZ! Oh Hey Review: Basically, this book had everything to do with Diablo, D2, and LOD. Unlike the other reviews I find this book right along the lines of the the Diablo universe. The constant war between Hell and Heaven, and mankind being stuck in between. Most people think Diablo is going to be in these books. If you play the game you know the story behind Diablo's undoing. These books are in the world of Diablo, based on other "mortals" defeating the forces of evil. Now for the plot, it was strung out, and at the end it left you hanging. But I would recommend it, for "hard-core" Diablo players. I give it a 4 out of 5. This book makes me want to get the 3rd book in series.
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest books I've read. Review: Diablo # 2 the black road is simply put one of the best books I've ever read. I'm a huge fan of the Diablo games and it got me to try out the books. I read Legacy of Blood and was hooked from the first page. Then I found out the Black Road was coming out and I bought it as soon as I could. I immediately dove into this book and loved it. It starts out with action and stays action packed the whole way through. I read mostly adventure and sci-fi so this book was right up my alley. I would reccomend this book to anyone who loves a great adventure or is a fan of Diablo. Not many books keep me gripped and turning pages like this one, but I was up late at night not wanting to go to bed because I was busy reading.
Rating: Summary: Not at as good as the first one of the series Review: I love books that start with some injection of rush. This book lacks one. Although it is related to the game, it offers very little conection with the original (game) story, maybe 2 pages at most. The plot is slow and (rarely) a little contradictory. From my point of view, the end is not as good. The three stars because of the game series and because the story usually follows unexpected paths. Not a book for non-Diablo fans.
Rating: Summary: THE BLACK ROAD Review: I personally think that this was a good book, i am a Diablo fanatic, but if any of you out there are the same way and want to read this to get the same feeling you would from the game, your not going to. Infact Diablo is not even in this book and his name is only mentioned a few times. Anyway, the book starts out slow, and keeps going back and forth between different scenarios. This gets confusing after awhile because you start to not know who or what your reading about and you have to go back and see that book is talking about 4 different charecters in four different places in the same chapter. This goes on through about a quarter of the way through the book and happens less often. The book picks up its pace very quickly and the author goes into much detail describing how things are working out with the charecters in the story. You will hear over and over again about Darricks father and the beatings he received when he was a child which gets really annoying after awhile. The relationship between the demon Kabraxis and the priest Cholik was what really got me interested in the book, the author goes into great detail descibing there relation ship and what there plans are, but he doesn't really go into depth about Darrick, all you hear about is his father, and his friend Mat.When you think the story is just about to really pick up with Darrick, your on the last 70 pages and then your done with the book. Towards the end the whole story line is rushed and it looks like the writer was pressed for time, or just wanted to finish the book. The ending is good though, the charecters are cool, as you read you begin to feel the charecters pains and understand there thoughts and desires based on the authors descriptions. The setting is ok, but it tends to stay in one genral area, mainly three towns, and it only refers to places from the first and second game of diablo to make the story sound more interesting. This is a good read if you like the setting of Diablo more than if you like Diablo, and aside from the rushed ending this is a really good book and its worth a read.
Rating: Summary: THE BLACK ROAD --will it stay in the dark, indefinitely? Review: If you're looking for new insight into the DIABLO PC games series, you're not apt to find much here--THE BLACK ROAD is simply an original story set in Blizzard North's mega-buck-making DIABLO game-world franchise, and merely makes mention of the storyline motivating D, DII and LOD. As a story the novel starts off well enough, and progresses at a good pace for most of the first chapter, but author Mel Odem's forray into character development (a new concept for him) is botched by a lackluster attempt combined evenly with extremely poor editing and a forced protagonist psychology--without giving away too much, it becomes very tiresome hearing about the main character's sad and abusive childhood. The story has the potential to be psudeo-epic, and follows that route for the first 2/3 of the book, but is eventually chopped off at the ankles in what reads as an obvious publishing time-crunch, or, at the best, the fizzling of creative writing energy, resulting in the impression that Odem simply finished the story because he had to. In short, read this book if you really like the DIABLO universe and anything that is remotely related to it; which is along the lines of reading any book set in early 20th Century Western Europe because you really like WWII history...
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest books I've read. Review: Some parts of the book are very well written, and I really found it hard to put down the book. However, the lead character IS kind of irritating, especially the later part when he just goes on and on about his father etc and refused to act. The main baddie is not any one of the Prime Evils. Although this is quite different from the game itself, this book is generally a good read. It has an interesting ending too, which I won't spoil for you. Go read the book!
Rating: Summary: Some good, some bad Review: Some parts of the book are very well written, and I really found it hard to put down the book. Rating: Summary: Does a fair job of keeping the Diablo series fresh. Review: With an all new cast of characters and villains, The Black Road is another trip into the world of Diablo. The beginning of the book starts of pretty slow, but then picks up gradually, filled with suspense and action. The reason I didn't give this book a perfect score was because some scenes seem rushed, others tend to not much very much sense, and the time passing in the book is often confusing. The ending:sort of a let down/cliffhanger, leaves me wishing for more. But all in all, a good few days of reading in store.
