Rating: Summary: Lightning Strikes-V.C. Andrews Strikes Gold Review: The ghost writer is back on track. Although I've enjoyed all the books. "Lightning Strikes" is excellant. It was even better than the first book "Rain". You won't want to put it down. I can hardly wait for "Eye Of The Storm". Start on this series right away. Highly Recommend!
Rating: Summary: Hurray fro VCA and AN! Review: Oh I am so happy about this book! This is why I fell in love with VCA from the start. Mr. Ghostwriter you have won me back! I read it in five hours, couldn't put it down and actually cried. I had to go and dig out the old books and start all over the VCA bug bit me so hard again. Thank you so much. Rain has certainly shown us what she is made of and I can't wait to see what happens next! Oh, and thank you so, so much for not making her pregnant with the second book! I loved the London situation, didn't like the sex, but what is VCA without it? The house was great and I loved the hidden stories. Outstanding! I just can't say enough!
Rating: Summary: Rain and Lightning Strikes Review: I really enjoyed both books of the Hudson series very much. They kept me on the edge of my seat all the time. They are so good that I find myself done with them before the next one is even expected to come out. I recommend anyone to read these and any books that V.C. Andrews has written. The only thing that I don't enjoy very much is waiting so long (November 2000) for the continuation in the series. Overall I will definitely keep reading. Thanks.
Rating: Summary: The Hudson Series is The best! Review: This book is the best by far! Rain was great but this book really brings it together! It was well worth the read and I couldnt put it down! i can't wait for The Eye Of the Storm!
Rating: Summary: Getting back to basics... Review: This book is one of the few recent releases under the V.C. Andrews name that wasn't completely predictable. While the themes are generally the same, the path the author was going down wasn't always obvious. It kept you interested in what was going to happen to Rain next. Hopefully the next novel continues down these lines.
Rating: Summary: Okay, but not great Review: I just expected more. None of the minor characters are really very developed, and there's no clear indication of who Rain's "true love" will be. Rain doesn't spend very much time at the theater school at all. And the "secret" that will be revealed in the next book is already so obvious. There is one unexpected twist, though. I would recommend it for VC die-hards and anyone who really liked the first book, RAIN, but if you're just starting to read VC books, try something else.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good, GW redeems himself...somewhat Review: Like one reviewer said, as of late I too have just simply wished that the new books would hurry up and end for they seem to drag on and on. But this novel was a surprise and moved at a rather fast pace and one scene in the book, while disturbing is a word best to describe it, brought back VCA's old style of writing, thus the GW actually taking a cue from VCA instead of repeating her words. Aside from seeing similarites to Dawn and Secrets of the Morning in this novel and in Rain, I can already sense what Eye of the Storm will be about and perhaps you will too. But all in all, this is a novel not to be missed, if you are only getting it to keep current or to read.
Rating: Summary: A SOLID ENTRY IN THE HUDSON SERIES Review: The last time we saw Rain Arnold, she was being told by the only mother she has ever known that she is in fact not her own child, but the daughter of a wealthy family, and she will moving in with them. After dealing with tragedy on top of tragedy, Rain managed to graduate High School with the hopes of making it as an actress. "Lightning Strikes" begins with Rain preparing to attend a performing arts school in London. Grandmother Hudson has made the arrangements for Rain to attend the school, and live with her sister Lenora, under the condition...they never find out Rain's true identity. Rain arrives at her great-aunt Lenora's estate, with the family believing she is an au pair from America. Upon her arrival, she has been forced to deal with the creepy, estate manager, Mr. Boggs, and the story of Lenora's dead daughter, who supposedly haunts the estate. Rain begins hearing noises during the night, seeing lights in parts of the house where no one lives, and feeling a strange presence around her. Rain finds comfort in the form of Randall, a young man from her school that she is falling in love with, but will Randall feel the same after finding out Rain's true identity...To further complicate matters, she comes in contact with her real father. Will Rain ever fit it...will she ever have a loving family...or will she be cursed with the lies and deceptions that have plagued her family's past... As in all V.C Andrews novel's, the love relationships become tainted, the settings and characters are creepy, and the reader never knows which characters can be trusted. V.C. Andrews has consistently written bestseller after bestseller, with a formula all her own, and it works. This type of fiction may not be for everyone, but anyone looking for dark, twisted, gothic fiction will enjoy this one. Nick Gonnella
Rating: Summary: big fan Review: I enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next in the series. I was sort of disappointed because the grandmother wasn't around long enough so that she and Rain could get things straight. I hope the upcoming series will not harp on ghosts or spirits. And I also hope this series ends with finality and not with the reader having questions as to how the herione makes out later in life after all the trials she has gone through. I think the writer that took over for Ms Andrews is very talented and is doing a great job.
Rating: Summary: Lightening Keeps Striking Review: All of VC Andrews books revisit the same themes: incest between siblings, a female protagonist who has an artistic aptitude - Cathy a dancer (Dollangager series), the aptly named Melody a musician, Raven sang (Runaway series) and Misty of the Wildflowers series like Melody, was also musical. Rain, the newest protagonist revisits all of these themes and parallel concepts by having an aptitude for acting and by having feelings for her half brother. The only departure from the Cliche Andrews or vintage Andrews, if you will, is that this is the first interracial character. That adds an interesting new element.
