Summary: V.C. Andrews does it again!
Review: Lightning Srikes is an excellent read. It is full of twists and turns, as all of V.C. Andrews' stories are. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to each and every story as the Hudson series continues.

Summary: A Bit Weak, But Entertaining
Review: I read this book before I read "Rain", but there is such a good recap of "Rain" in the beginning that you really can just start with this one. I can't honestly say it was all that good. The connection between the young maid and Rain's "uncle" is a little unexpected, but the maid's character is very weak, so it makes the entire drama weak. The tale of Rain finding her dad and meeting a cute singer is far more interesting than that of the odd goings-on in Aunt Lenora's home, which were unexciting to say the least. Even so, it is a decent read, and I am awaiting (somewhat patiently)for the next in the series.

Summary: Lightning Strikes!
Review: It is not very often that the second book lives up to the first in a series.... thank goodness V C Andrews (and team) are able to top Rain! (Rain is the first book in the new Hudson series, lightning Strikes is the second... third book Eye of the storm is due out Nov. 2000!)

This book was wonderful. Rain has many adventures and learns as she goes! (just as we all do.) I like the humanity that Rain portrays.... her insecurities; her developing sexuality; and her complex relationships with relatives.

The only thing I do not care for is the underlying theme that VC Andrews carries in many of her books.... that of incest. Rain and the boy she thought was her brother start to explore their new relationship.... in the first book, Rain. This relationship continues in Lightning Strikes.

Summary: Cliche
Review: This book follows the formulaic Andrews/ghostwriter pattern. I did hope Rain would have more sense than to sleep with Randy and Roy. I was hoping this series would take a different turn from the usual. Rain was a much more appealing character, so I had hoped for her to make more informed decisions instead of becoming just another cliche Andrews/Ghostwritten character.

Summary: A REAL BUST!
Review: Any follower of VC Andrews knows that her protagonist always has a talent (Cathy Dollanger, the dancer, the aptly named Melody, the musician and now Rain, the actor). I thought it was good having an interracial character to help add a new element to the tired themes of incest, of sexual relationships with persons raised as sibligs only to learn they are not true siblings (Heaven/Tom, Dawn/Jimmy and now Rain/Roy). I had hoped Rain would have better sense than to sleep with Roy. It has been a cheapened, tired cliche. I really hoped for something a little different. If anything, this series is equal opportunity -- looking on the bright side, it shows that irresponsible sex and tired cliches apply across the board. Rain was a let down like the disillusioning Cathy before her. VC Andrews books are soap operas that hold one's interest, yet offer little of substance. I sure hope Rain end up another cliche like all of VC Andrews' other characters with the exception of the Runaways. That was her best series (the Runaways).

Summary: Here comes the Rain again
Review: I enjoyed this book. Just like all the other characters (Cathy, Heaven, Audrina, and Ruby) Rain is lonely and vurnerable. She is still searching for someplace to call home. Some of us has been there one point in time. I know how it feels to be overwhelmed by new surroundings and people. I know what it feels like to judged by my skin color and not by my character. As a Black woman, I felt this character. I felt that it could of been more too it. Not all of us live in the ghetto, get beat by our husbands, killed by gang members or live below poverty level. I did find that sterotypical. Those problems are universal in the 2K. Other than that I enjoyed that Rain is finally getting her dues, but at what cost. We will have to wait for The Eye of the Storm. Keep up the good work!

Summary: A Must Read
Review: I am a true V.C. Andrews fan and I LOVE this book. I was very impressed with the ending and it truly left me hanging! I can not wait until the next book. November 2000 can not come soon enough!

Summary: I loved it but still depressing
Review: I love this new series. Its really good. Its so up to date. I love the setting in London. Ive really gone to like Rain alot. I hate that horrid mother of hers. How can any mother deny her own child just because shes half black. I feel Rain should of exposed the EndFeilds. What hypocrites they were. I cant wait for the next. i hope Rain will return to London to be with her father and become a great actress.

Summary: not as good as i thought....
Review: Rain is very confused and boring in this book. She doesn't have the same personality as in the first novel in the series. The first book was great the second not as good as i thought. But there was a very exciting twist towards the end which made the book not so boring.Looking forward to the next book!
