Rating: Summary: I expected so much more Review: I loved Silver Wolf, so I was expecting to love Night of the Wolf, but I was disappointed. There was far too much erotica, and to little story. (It flet like The Mamoth Hunters or Plains of Passage.) More happened in this book, but most of it I was not sure why it happened. I did fall in love with Maniel, but still she could have done so much more with the character. I enjoyed the book, just not as much as I had hopped to. Oh well, we'll just hafta read the next one and see if she improves.
Rating: Summary: A great story to dream to be a part of... Review: I loved this book. I read the first one, I loved it too. I've read Anne Rice before, and I think I'm going to have to vote for the were-wolf stroy teller. It probably had to do with, my favor of wolves over bats, but the story was magnificant. I have found a new passion in historic fiction, as long as there is a bit of magic. I really felt like I was there, I could see ancient Rome and Gaul. I could feel all the emotions of the array of charcters. Its a story packed with magic, passion, greed, duty, and curiousity about the other side. Just a great tale.
Rating: Summary: Night of the Wolf Review: I loved this book. It was a bit slow to get into, but once started, I couldn't put it down! Yes, it had some sort of erotica in it, but all with a purpose behind it, herding the story along. It was about human nature....and very well written. I had expected to be dissapointed, because I would have rather read about what happened to Maenial and the Silver Wolf, not Maeniel's past, but it was really very interesting. I loved this book and all the twists in it. When is Alice Borchardt coming out with a new wolf book?
Rating: Summary: The Best Review: I loved this book. It was so exciting I couldn't put it down. It is a good price. The story leaves you in utter excitement. Things change in a turn of a page. It keeps your heart trembling. The emotions between the siver wolf and the grey wolf is tantalizing. It is one of the most vigorating books I ever read. I am buying part two and looking forward to part three.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Work Review: I loved this book. The plot is deep, with lots of twists and turns. True, I had to read the book twice to understand the begining of the book ( where it skipped around) , but still found the book enthralling. An absolute must read.
Rating: Summary: Not 'erotica', but much more! Review: I picked this book out of the 'erotica' section. I did not find this comparible to any erotica that I have ever read. (Erotica to me is Ann Rice's Beauty series and similar writings.) Anyway, I DID found this book to be incredibly captivating! There is nothing predictable or redundant about it. A.Borchardt has my captivity and further interest in her other writings. She has exceptional talent and this is evident in her abilities to mold history, romance, and magic into one book. Yes, the character Maniel is most enthralling, but so are ALL of thee others. She balances each character's importance carefully. Her imagination exceeds as she expertly entwines our known history, with a touch of magick-myth, passion, and humor. I don't want to give you specifics, as I do not want to ruin the surprises awaiting any great read!
Rating: Summary: In between average and good Review: I thought 'Night of the Wolf' was an interesting tale of fantasy during a time of upheaval. Not only does this novel take you back into the days of the Roman Empire, but also has a little magic thrown into the pages to keep the reader enchanted. To make my review short but sweet - The reason it received three stars from me is due to the fact that parts of the novel seem to drag on with entirely to much detail on one specific topic. Example would be what they drank during that time. Not only was it covered once in one chapter, but again in another and another as well. Detail maybe important in some aspects, but not redundant in more then one chapter.
Rating: Summary: I Just Love Sequals! Review: I waited a long time for this book to come out in paperback. The story of Maeniel is a powerful one. Way back in the fog of time, during the reign of Julius Ceasar, a wolf became a man. His animal innocence was destroyed when he joined the ranks of humanity. Maeniel learned treachery, cruelty, hate, jealousy, and a whole bunch of other horrible human traits. But he also learned love, a very good characteristic to have. Sent to kill Caesar, this wolf/man runs into lots of trouble and makes new friends. It is a wonderfully complex story. This novel is the sequal to The Silver Wolf, one of my all-time favorite books. I have been waiting impatiently for the past year or so for this book to come out in paperback so I could buy it. I will admit it's kind of hard to follow sometimes, so you might have to go back and read it again, but then again i'm not that much of a history person and so didn't pick up on everything the first time around. I was hoping that the story would include the characters from The Silver Wolf, but they were not present. Romantic that I am, I wanted to see what would happen between Regeane and Maenial, but I guess I'll just have to wait for the next one to come out. I highly reccomend this to anyone and everyone, for it is a wonderfully written tale.
Rating: Summary: Research, research, research Review: If you know anything about the Roman empire, you know more than this author does. Her innumerable Latin (and English) grammar and spelling errors make this book unreadable. I dogeared pages with mistakes, and my copy looks more like a fan than a text. Avoid this book (and its sequels) at all costs. You have been warned!
Rating: Summary: Three Strikes, You're Out Review: If you want to be confused for almost an entire story, just read this. Alice Borchardt did not keep to a very good story line in her book Silver Wolf but in Night of the Wolf I believe there never was a story line. She jumps from one thing to another without any conection what so evcr. This is probably the 3rd worst story I have ever read and I read about 30 books a year. Anyway, that was strike two. I will give her one more chance before I decide to never read another of her books. It's hard to believe she is related to Ann Rice.
