Rating: Summary: My fave Koontz book bar none! Review: Maybe it was because I was not much older than Slim when I first read this book, but that character really captured my imagination. I've enjoyed other stories he's written, but this tale of awful beasties, second sight and disenfranchised heroes has stayed with me far more than others he has written. I have been impressed with the writing skill of his recent real-time works, but they have left me a bit cold. This story has all the darkness mitigated by human warmth of old legends and fairtales.
Rating: Summary: Very Good Action-Packed Novel Review: We all know and love Koontz for writing what I consider gripping tales of action/thriller/horror that I need during sleepless Transatlantic flights. I mean, the action is great and he knows how to move it along speedily, but this is obviously not a masterpiece. It is, however, very good. The story of a genetic "freak" who can see goblins posing as humans with the intention of wiping us off the face of the planet is good. Because the action is of foremost importance in Koontz' books, everything else tends to suffer. Descriptions are superficial or nonexistent, and characterizations are minimal. What you get in return though it tons of nonstop action. Satisfying.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book. Like all his others. Review: This book was really good. I loved all the characters and the plot. It was filled with action and kept you guessing at what would happen next. A must read book for Koontz and horror lovers!

Rating: Summary: Purely Awesome! Review: It's been a while since I read Twilight Eyes, but it's the sort of thrill that never leaves you! It was awesome, total first person, in-your-face, edge of your seat, cheer for the good guy, share the drama, hope we survive kind of thrill that belongs in an MTV commercial or Die Hard episode! Oh, did I say that it was awesome? Totally! Koontz seems to have two kinds of books: Really really good, and the "what on earth was that"s. Twilight Eyes was definitely really really good. Let me also recommend for the first time Koontz readers a few more: Lightening, Midnight, and Strangers! And oh yeah, Twilight Eyes is awesome! :-)
Rating: Summary: What is it about amusement parks and thrillers? Review: This was the first Koontz novel I read, I was about 13 and was indeed thrilled by it. But looking back it's not so good a novel in my opinion. Perhaps because I didn't like the bad guys. Joel Tuck is a great character though and Rya's ideas on nuclear war are thought provoking.
Rating: Summary: An interesting book, but not up to Koontz's usual. Review: I'm not much of a Koontz fan, but I'd read about this book and the premise sounded interesting to me, so I decided to take a chance. I must admit I was disappointed. The prose style seems clunky to me-- to beat the hell out of a metaphor, Koontz is a marvelous painter of verbal pictures, but tends to flood his palette with too much purple prose-- and the sex scenes definitely could have been downplayed, both in regards to length and.. ah.. intensity. (Nothing wrong with a well-written sex scene, mind you, but sentence upon sentence about Slim's 'spiralling seed' is more than I can bear.) As other readers have commented, the 'Goblins' began as an exciting and original concept, but degenerated into sci-fi cliches by the time the novel seriously touched on the reason for their existence. All in all, Twilight Eyes was a pleasant enough read but I don't think it would give a first-time Koontz reader a good impression of the man's corpus of work.
Rating: Summary: Dean-o, you should have left well enough alone... Review: Word is that this was a shorter novel that Koontz went back and fleshed out. He should have left well enough alone. The book starts strong but descends into silly sci-fi about three quarters of the way through.
Rating: Summary: One of the most fantastic books ever written .... Review: Just fantastic, read it! Set in the sixties, ah the memories! (Though I was born in 77) But whatever, if this is what are parents lived through then I'm glad I missed out! Slim McKenzie - what a guy, still probably saving the world as we speak. Just take a chance! Though I'm not sure why anyone would ponder the potential of a $6 book. One of Koontz's best though. Trust me.
Rating: Summary: Different Review: This is a great book. Its quite a bit different from most Koontz books. For one thing, its a period piece. Another, its set in rural Pennsylvania rather than Southern California. The goblins make great bad guys. This is almost like 2 separate novels; Part 1 is better than Part 2, but Part 2 is more animated. Definitely worth a read.
