Rating: Summary: one great read Review: i've read several of mr.mccammons books and i have enjoyed each one of them.don't be turned off by the premise of this book.once you start reading it you will not be able to put it down.
Rating: Summary: A surprise Review: Let me start by saying that R. C. McCammon is easily my favorte author. I thought I'd have to post a review defending (possibly) the strangest character novel McCammon has ever written. It's nice to see that so many others read "Wolf's Hour" the way I did. Again, McCammon's fatal flaw arises where the conclusion is far too abrupt, as if McCammon gets bored with the story and stops caring about the characters. In spite of this, the miniature wolf soceity is brilliantly described, while the war scenes are described in impeccable detail. As usual, McCammons characters and imagry are more real (despite being so extraordinary) than any other author of his genre.
Rating: Summary: TWO DUELING SUBJECTS- ONE TERRIFIC BOOK!!! Review: I always averted reading "The Wolf's Hour," mainly because I would read the blurb and chuckle at how hoaky it sounded. But after giving it a try, a found I couldn't put it down. It's an epic story or two different worlds- Werewolfs and war torn Europe- and how Michael jumps from adventure to adventure in that rich, devastating time. The prose is clean and eloquent, and even though I feel McCammon runs hot and cold from book to book, I think this is his finest!
Rating: Summary: This book was a page turner from beginning to end. Review: If you enjoy a good read this is the book from beginning to end. The story line was excellent, the sex tremendous, and the the good guys won. I think a sequel is due to find out what really happen to Michael's son.
Rating: Summary: THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST!!! Review: A SEQUEL PLEASE!!!!! I CAN'T THINK OF ANY OTHER BOOK THAT DESERVES A SEQUEL. IT WAS THE ABSOUTE BEST!
Rating: Summary: The greatest book in the world Review: Fantastic, what more can I say?
Rating: Summary: First try at McCammon. Certainly not the last. Review: I may be a bit harsh in saying this, but I felt awkward before I started reading this book. A man who can voluntarily change into a werewolf? What a silly premise for a plot, I thought. Then, I started reading the book. The blurb doesn't justify McCammon sufficiently. Its a wonderful book. Pretty in its love scenes, raw and brutal and graphic in its violence...but theres always a fine balance to it. I will look forward to reading more from this author in the future, and I sure wish he gets more of a recognition for his work as time goes by. He deserves all the praise he gets, thats for sure.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME Review: I read this book years ago, and passed it along to my mother and brother, and I am now buying again so my husband may read it (after I'm through)...I wish Mr McCammon would finish the story..it seems incomplete..but I will never tire of reading it...
Rating: Summary: Making this subject matter work is pure genius. Review: If anyone had told me that a good book could be written about a Nazi werewolf, I would have told them that they were crazy. Then I read "The Wolf's Hour". Exceptional!
Rating: Summary: Agreed on the movie Review: I have long thought that this book should have been made into a movie as well. Some elements would be lost, but overall i dont think the essence would suffer too much in the transition. As long as Bush is kept away from the soundtrack!! I'm not sure how this is classified as a horror novel though. Just because it involves lycanthrops doesnt make it a member of the Howling series. If you havent read it, then do so. If you did read it, do so again, i did.
