Summary: As Thrilling As A Rollercoaster Ride...
Review: "Darkness Bound" by Larry Brooks was an absolutely fabulous book! I couldn't put it down! The main character, Dillon Masters was the definition of sexy. Although he had a few naive moments, I thought Brooks did an excellent job developing this character.
Of course, the perfect villainess was created, to uh, "play around" with Dillon...The Dark Lady. She was cunning and sexy and I never knew what to expect from her. Brooks did an amazing job building the chemistry between the two....and then molding it into a very sexual type of hatred. I honestly loved both, in fact, all of the characters. The multitude of twists and turns that the plot took were magnificent. My pulse was racing with every turn of a page.
All in all, it was a terrific read, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a little kinkiness mixed in with a good murder-mystery type of book. "Darkness Bound" is the best, and of course most original suspense novel I've read yet!

Summary: A book I had trouble putting down!
Review: "Darkness Bound" by Larry Brooks is one of my favorite books of fiction. A book I literally had trouble putting down until I had read the very last page. It is also a book that I have read several times since!

Summary: Love is the ultimate psychological thriller.
Review: "What's a nice writer like you doing with a steamy book like this?" I get asked that a lot lately. Thanks to the great cover art (with gratitude to the talented folks at NAL), it's easy to make assumptions about my new novel, DARKNESS BOUND. Go ahead, assume away, because chances are your "thing" (and this is definately a book about "things") is probably here. This is a story about the ultimate intimacy, the most powerful opportunity, the greatest pleasure, and the most dangerous game of all -- getting inside the head of your lover. I wrote it for women as much as men; any woman who has felt the conflicting emotions of being in a position to forgive a man who has betrayed her will understand this story, and any man who has felt the twinge of desire when a dangerous woman enters his world will understand the meaning, and the thrill, of vulnerability. Have a great time reading DARKNESS BOUND. My hope is that you'll have something interesting to talk about with the person in your life when you're done.

Many thanks to my agents, Mary Alice and Anna at Cine-Lit; to my editor, Dan Slater, for believing in me; and to my wife, Laura, for everything.

Summary: An exciting erotic thriller
Review: Although it appeared that the man just died when his heart stopped, Detective Tim Rubin has doubts about the natural cause findings. Perhaps, it is his divorce in which his former wife has that same know-it-all smile as the grieving widow squeezing every drop of juice from a certain part of the male anatomy. Everything about this case reads too perfect, but that is Tim's quandary because perfect means no evidence. Still, he vows that one-day, no matter how long it takes, he will insure justice occurs.

Four years later, Seattle stockbroker Dillon Masters' wife Karen separates from him. Stunned, Dillon accommodates her, but warns her that he could find someone else. She tells him not to cross the line or else. However, Dillon's DARKNESS BOUND descent starts when he sees the beautiful dark lady in black leather at Nordstrom. Mentally, he screwed her and made a purchase just to linger longer, staring at her. The mysterious lady haunting his sex dreams calls Dillon, who rapidly is descending rather quickly into a sexual game where the outcome could be anything, including murder, just ask Detective Rubin.

DARKNESS BOUND is an exciting thriller in which sex plays a critical role and is not a sensation-gathering by-product. The plot seems so believable and very frightening with the key players in the game raising the ante to extremes that they hope destroys the competition. Although some readers will want to avoid the darkness and profanity that are intricate to the cleverly crafted and exciting tale, most fans of thrillers will enjoy the book and want more novels like this one from debut author Larry Brooks.

Summary: Awesome thriller..IT IS NOT AN EROTIC NOVEL
Review: Although this novel has some erotic elements in it, I would classify it as a thriller. And a very good one for that! You will find yourself unable to stop reading this fast paced novel with a masterfully crafted plot and events happening at great speed.

I followed this reading with Pressure points which is not nearly as good, but as for Darkness Bound I would say it is one of the finest first novels I have read in the last years.

Summary: A must read
Review: Couldn't put this one down. A real page turner and a twist at the end which had me exclaim out loud. When is Larry Brooks next book out?

Summary: An Okay Debut!
Review: Darkness Bound, Larry Brooks' first novel, starts off very strong and maintains its strength through the first two-thirds of the book. I'd rate the book "4 stars" up to this point. However, the last third only gets a "2 star" rating, as it didn't sustain my interest and all I wanted to do was finish the book so I could move on to my next one. The basic problem for me is that Brooks introduced so many plot twists -- most of which I was able to anticipate --that the story became too far-fetched and I found myself not caring about any of the characters. As for the book being promoted as an erotic thriller, the erotism is tepid, at best. Overall, Brooks has a writing style that makes Darkness Bound a fast read, and he definitely does have potential. Hopefully, his next book will be stronger on credible character and plot development.
