Rating: Summary: Practically flawless and absolutely riveting Review: Despite the length of this book, I managed to read it cover-to-cover in one day...because once you pick up GHOUL, you cannot put it down for ANY reason. Not to eat, not to watch television...and CERTAINLY not to sleep. Michael Slade (actually the pseudonym of three writers working together) takes much of "his" style in this novel from the late, great Howard Phillips Lovecraft...but he also delivers scenes which hit the reader like a sledgehammer to the face. When the end is reached, one can only sit in awe...no other reaction would do this book justice. And to the reader who states that multiple personality cannot be brought on by "one moment of childhood fright"...you need to do more homework. M.P.D. (Multiple Personality Disorder) is ALWAYS brought on by childhood trauma...any extreme trauma during the years when the personality of a human being is still forming can cause a fissure in that personality...a split. And if being buried alive is not a traumatic event, I am at a loss to define the term. I have studied serial murder extensively and am currently at work on a novel about both serial murder and M.P.D. Believe me, I have done enough research to know. This book is 100% realistic and absolutely terrifying. If you choose to read it, prepare to have its scenes and its characters permanently burned into your psyche.

Rating: Summary: One of the best thrillers I have ever read! Review: I had never heard of Michael Slade. While looking through the book rack at a grocery store I picked up this book, read the back cover, and decided to give it a try. I was amazed. This little known (sadley) author(s) metodically takes you trough great mahem, murder, and suspence. I quickly found what I think was the first novel, Headhunter, and found the the writing is consistant. If dark suspense, violence, and frankly being scared to death is up your alley, then Slade and Goul is a must for you to read!
Rating: Summary: One of the most memorable, horrific books I have ever read Review: I have been a horror fan since I was 9 years old, I read Ghoul when I was 14, the first time I picked up the book, I had to put it down, it was so graphic, I then picked it up again a couple of months later and couldn't put it down until I had finished it. It is now 7 years later and I still remember every detail of the book, Michael Slade knows how to captivate his reader and pull them in to a world of fear and sheer horror, also contains many an unexpected surprise. A definite must for avid horror fans.
Rating: Summary: Ghoul by Micheal Slade Review: I read this book several years ago. I had never read this author previously, but what a suprise! I was really scared as I was reading it, but could not put it down. I made sure that my doors were locked, looked in my closets, under the bed, anywhere that I thought that someone could hide. this book is great for anyone that loves the horror genre. I have been searching for this book because I lost my copy. I am thrilled that I was not Imagining that it existed!
Rating: Summary: frightened by marilyn manson? Review: If you are, then read no further. The Scream will make your parents throw out your Judas Priest records again! Although I'm an avid Michael Slade fan, this one is my favorite! Slade's talent for providing understandable information about forensics, psychology & serial crime put the reader in the RCMP. His multiple storylines weave effortlessley toward the climax & outcome of the case while making you relieved it's De Clerq out there & not you! If you like fiction that's almost non-fiction (because he studies up BEFORE he writes the book) please read this. And while you're at it, read Headhunter, Cutthroat & Ripper to treat your sick mind to a little candy! Slade can't write 'em fast enough.

Rating: Summary: What A great trip this was Review: If you want to really scare yourself, and you are not afraid of learning about some of the seamier sides of life, this is one hell of a read. Rating: Summary: Straight to the the heart ...of horror! Review: Individually titled chapters makes for a great read! I have only read 3 horror novels more than once and this is one I HAD to own! Great twist ending. Still gives me goosebumps just thinking about it! Read it the first time 10 years ago and had to search high and low to find it... it was worth it!
Rating: Summary: Ghoulishly delightful horror! Review: It has been a long time since I read GHOUL... I have not forgotten any details! That would be impossible.Michael Slade, actually three lawyers from Vancouver BC writing under this pen name, put together a wonder story. There's so much research and detail put into the story that it is hard not to believe very action. These men draw upon non fiction material from the real world; murder cases, doctor reports, physiology reports, and many others. Did I mention material from history too! I would have loved high school if these authors were the teachers. I digress... back to this book. I read it in two days, the fastest I ever read any book and that record still stands today. It's an edge of your seat, stay up all night, mentally psychotic, skin crawling, horrorific ride that ALL horror novels should be graded against. Any one of his books are top notch but this will always be my most favourite.
