Rating: Summary: A cliched Masterpiece! Review: I can see how a person can easily hate this book. However, I found it to be very entertaining despite many of the "Koontz Cliches" that can be found throughout. READER BEWARE: The book starts out painfully slow, but about halfway through it really starts to grab your attention as the action picks up. Koontz successfully weaves a devious villian, cliched cops, and some of the most nerve-racking white knuckle suspense filled chase scenes ever to come out with one of the best books I've ever read.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK! Review: I loved this book! This is one of the best Koontz books that I've read. One of the reviewers gave it a 4, which it definatly did not deserve. The not-knowing all is what makes it such a great book. And as for the characters not being so great, what about the dog?! And the contrast between Harry and Connie is very interesting. The suspense is packed in from beginning to end and while the story is a bit unbelievable, you'll like it. This is one of Koontz's best, and definatly worth a read.
Rating: Summary: The MOST ColOrFul, thriller ever!! Review: This book HOOKS you by the throat, and won't let go! A FRESH approach to the "thriller" genere.
Rating: Summary: A very well-drawn portrait of police detective fiction! Review: Dean Koontz has drawn a compelling profile of police work, the stress involved, and what unexpected things can happen in an ordinary day. While his heros are a bit prototypical, his villain is anything but. The referrals to actual crimes heightens the sense of reality and immediacy that is sometimes lacking in mysteries. For once, the female lead is neither screechily hysterical nor "tough broad" mean. The male lead is equally not a predictable type--quite refreshing! The use of the references to fairy tales to solve the crime, including an all-but-talking dog, shows the inventiveness and thorough research the author has utilized. Not many people realize just how sensitive a dog's nose is, but by the end of this trip with Woofer, you'll understand why your dog looks at you "that" way! All in all, an enjoyable, believable, fast-paced run through life in the cop lane.
Rating: Summary: He hid a great moral inside this one. Review: This book is great, story, plot, characters, the works. He also makes a great spear at the declining dignity of the human race. As O.Wilde said,"Any man can make history, but only a great man can write it." Write on Dean. Write on.
Rating: Summary: Better than most, but not HIS best. Review: The idea behind Mr. Koontz's book was a winner from the beginner, but the style in which the mystery was sloved was not exactly exceptional. In fact I found the only reason I continued to read was because I liked the plot, not the story line. I still would recomend this book, but only to immature readers. I know Mr. Koontz can write better, and has proved it in other books of his.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK!!! Review: This was the first Koontz novel that I ever read and since that day, I've been hooked on his books. I think that Koontz is a great author and keeps his readers interested from the beginning to the end. I definitely recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: YOWZA!! Review: This is the book that really hooked me on Dean Koontz. The creative characters jump out at you. Koontz creates an empathy with the protagonists that has you biting your nails until dawn, the time when Tick Tock comes to call. I am not naturally inclined to the macabre, but this book is absolutely spellbinding. It is a GOOD STORY.
Rating: Summary: I think others should read the book. Review: The story takes place in a city were a lot of bad guys live like an Elvis impersonator. Here comes a sneak peak at the book. This bad guy robbed a restaurant and ran into a darkalley to hide from Abby and harry they're police. The police have to catch the Ratman by making a big mouse trap. I really liked the story because it pulled me in.
Rating: Summary: Mr. Koontz, I'm ashamed of you Review: Boring characters, boring story...when is Mr. Koontz going to write a story that _doesn't_ have a man, woman, and dog as the main characters? Also, I despised the generalizations Mr. Koontz made about ravers and rave culture; not all ravers are druggies who don't give a $*&t about their lives or the world around them. Mr. Koontz, do your research next time, please. Readers, avoid DRAGON TEARS as if it were a plague.
