Summary: A Mysterious Guy
Review: It all started with sixteen-year-old Kerry going to the laundry mat late one night to get her brother's stuffed bear. To her surprise though, three men came in, dragging another man that was gagged and bloody. They told her he was a vampire. Thinking they were crazy, and were going to kill an innocent college guy named Ethan, she helped him escape. She never thought to see Ethan again but that changed when, at eight o'clock, her father never came to pick her up at her job at the supermarket. Ethan gave her a ride to her house, where she discovered her brother and father missing, the furniture askew, and "VAMPIRE WE HAVE YOUR FAMILY" in red letters on the wall. Ethan took her to his friend Regina's house. There was another surprise there too. Another was yet to come. Things didn't make sense. Ethan was healed even though he had had serious wounds from the night before that couldn't have healed in a day. Where was her family? She isn't a vampire, but someone thought she was. This story is about Kerry's encounter with Ethan, a mysterious guy, and their plan to get her family back, and do something Kerry doesn't know about.

Summary: I love this book
Review: I have read Companions of the Night several times. Each time I am amazed because I fall in love with it each time. Because of this book I took time to search for more vampire love stories and even read more Vivian Vande Velde books. If you enjoyed Companions of the Night I suggest you try Anne Rice books. Ms. Veldes writing has a very Rician feel to it.

Summary: A cool book
Review: _Companions of the Night_ is the adventurous story of Kerry, who rescues an injured young man from vampire hunters and then discovers that he is a vampire. Ethan, an enigmatic and dark anti-hero, is seductive and fascinating to Kerry. This book is full of action, suspense, and a touch of romance.

Summary: Vampires and kidnapers and teenagers, oh my!
Review: My sister first recommended that I read this book, and though I was skeptical of vampire weirdo books, I did. And I enjoyed it, alot. I was surprised at the twists and turns in the plot. It was quite interesting, and I can honestly say that it is not your average spoofy vampire story. It was funny, frightening, suspenseful and even a little romantic. Just what a novel should be. I wouldn't call it horror, I'd call it fiction. Very enjoyable fiction.

Summary: It was Great!!
Review: I thought this book was really great. I liked the characters and the plot. If your looking for a really good vampire book this is one of them.

Summary: Betrayal, lies and angst, oh my!
Review: Of the books I recently acquired, CotN was the one I couldn't wait to read. My expectations were met and exceeded.

Kerry, the heroine, is believable, with intelligence, foibles, and hazel eyes. Ethan, our perhaps-vampire, is an engaging character, with a vulnerability and good looks, and something to hide.

As Kerry falls deeper into Ethan's world, she learns that she may very well be in over her head. Due to circumstances (keeping herself and others alive, for one), parting ways with him may not be the best idea. Who's the real evil and who's a girl to trust? Putting her life in Ethan's hands may be dangerous, but it seems her only hope. Trust, betrayal, and lies come into the mix in refreshing way, so much so that you may be surprised what is real and what is not.

At times Ethan's motives and his vampiric "birth" are somewhat unclear, and a few small portions of the book are left a bit loosely threaded, which leads you to create your own conclusions (not entirely a bad thing). In rare spots the dialogue is a bit stiff, but the narrative is always lush and interesting. The end was somewhat unexpected, although fitting, and this book SCREAMS for a sequel.

Over all, there are not many stories of this genre that feature characters as engaging, young, or well-written; you aren't likely to find many books this good. I'd HIGHLY recommend this to anyone with a taste (haha) for vampiric fiction unlike the norm.

Summary: Another awesome book by Vivian Vande Velde!
Review: I have read all of Vivian Vande Velde's books, except for a few that I can't get a hold of, and I love every single one of them. I have not read a single book of hers that I didn't finish in one day and that I didn't absolutely love. She has definitely become my favorite author and I can't wait until the day when I own ALL of her books. "Companions of the Night" is about 16-year-old Kerry who lives with her dad and little brother, Ian, after their mother ran off with another guy. One night, Ian forgets his teddy bear at the laundry mat and he asks Kerry to go get it. Kerry does so...... but her life will never be the same after that night. So many things happen and it's not your average vampire story. And, of course, Vivian Vande Velde includes her wonderful sense of humor. Every time I read her books, I find it hard to stop laughing. I noticed something while reading "Companions of the Night" on page 163... or 63, something like that, Kerry asks Ethan if there's a way for vampires to not be vampires anymore, besides dying. And Ethan says yes, there is. So, perhaps, after the book ended, things worked out after all? =o)

Summary: Vivian Vanda Velde is a wonderful, creepy person
Review: Who hasn't read this? I seriously fell in LOVE with Ethan, Ethan is such a vampire, I read it and instantly wanted to keep the book, even though it was my friend's and she really wanted it. I LOVED IT! It was the best book, I compare Amelia Atwater-Rhodes to Vivian. If you like Vivian Vanda Velde, you'll Love Amelia. S.

Summary: Not just your ordinary vamp story
Review: Who can put down a book with murder, vampires, revenge, and romance all rolled into it? If you can't, you should try Companions of the Night. Vivian Vande Velde concocts a tale of a modern, new-era vampire who's handsome, ruthless, and has a dry-sense of humor teaming up with a sarcastic, talkative teenage girl, both looking for the same guy for different reasons. For Ethan Bryne, the vampire, he wants to avenge the murder of another vamp, while Kerry, the girl, searches for her kidnapped her family. I think the person who gave this book a five star wrote best when he/she wrote: "a must read."

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Worth the read...
Review: This is a pretty good vamp book. I've read it several times. Vande Velde writes some good stuff, I recomend it.
