Summary: the longest errand of her life....
Review: poor kerry just wanted to get to the laundromat for her brother's stuffed bear so he'd go back to sleep. instead she finds herself the hostage of a group of 'grade-a crazies' who are convinced the innocent guy they have tied up in the corner is actually a bloodthirsty vampire....but are they crazy? after a night that includes assault, fraud, grand theft auto, torture, murder, and the disposal of bodies, kerry emerges into a world that has continued sanely on without her....and finds herself looking back to the 'fiend' she had hated, pitied and feared. a fantastic vampire book as well as a coming-of-age novel.

Summary: Enjoyable
Review: I read this book all in one sitting late at night. Sheesh, did I have some wild dreams! ^_^

Companions of the Night is the third book I've read by Vivian Vande Velde. This review's coming from a young teen, just so you know.

I'd have to say even though it *was* a bit graphic at times, if you're put off by that, the rest of the book will make up for any doubts that it isn't one of the most enjoyable books you've ever read. So what I'm telling you is to give it a try. The plot has all sorts of twists and turns, and an awesome unexpected ending! I could relate to Kerry, and Ethan was one of those bad boys you love to love.

If you're looking for a good fictional book, Companions of the Night is a good read. And. . .

. . .I've already written fanfiction for it! :D

Summary: Vampires?
Review: The Companions of the Night By: Vivian Vande Velde 212p producer is magic Carpet books.
I loved this book it had romance blood and lots of mystery. The book is about two people. When the main girl is persuaded to go to the 24 hour laundry mat; to get her little brother's teddy bear. When she gets there she is caught is what is thought to be a gang fight. But she soon finds out that they think that he is a vampire. And they think they have to kill him. She laughs at that thought. She is thought to also be a vampire so they take her hostage to find out. If she gets in the sun then she will burn; and if the sun doesn't burn her then she's not. But she doesn't won't to wait to find out. She and the guy run for it when they aren't looking.
This is about the quest that they have looking for cover.

Summary: A perspective of love and fear
Review: Companions of the Night, by Vivian Vande Velde is a good book because it gives a perspective of love and fear. It has the girl lost but acting like she knows as much as the other characters. I like it because it gives choices and wrong from right even if the wrong is for a better purpose.

Summary: Great Teen Vampire Book
Review: Sixteen-year-old Kerry Nowicki saves the life of a vampire (Ethan Bryne) one night when she stumbles upon a group of vampire hunters bullying him in a Brockport, New York, laundromat. Consequently, she becomes involved in his life when the remaining vampire hunter abducts Kerry's father and 4-year-old brother (Ian) and later kills Ethan's vampire friend (Regina Sloane). Together they spend a great deal of the book driving around in stolen cars, looking for her missing family and a lone vampire hunter whose work isn't finished yet.

"Companions of the Night" is a well-written, exciting book that's hard to put down. There's plenty of action and suspense, with some sparring romance between Kerry and Ethan (though I found Ethan much too manipulative and evasive to be a satisfying heartthrob), which should appeal to vampire fans of all ages.

Summary: One of the best vampire books I've read!
Review: OK, move over Bram Stoker,Ann Rice, Laurell K. Hamilton, this is one of the best vampire books I've read and it's written by a young adult fiction writer no less!

I've have some of Vivian Vande Velde's other books and this one just blew me away because it's so different! I just love the spunky & witty 16 yr old heroine Kerry Nowicki & the charming, devious, mysterious Ethan Bryne is both seductive and vulnerable at the same time.

Very hard to put down, I read it within a few hours and am rerading it again. It's really good!

Summary: Absolutely riveting
Review: A lot of books start off with the same problem: they stall. You want to say "Hurry up!" Eventually, of course, the author decides to increase the action and deliver a magnificent story.
Au contraire, Companions of the Night's first ten pages not only starts off with a bang, it gets a hold of your attention. The story then unfolds as you read and before you realize it, you're 1/3 through...1/2...2/3...done.
This book already has more than enough rave reviews to convince any person that Vivian Vande Velde is fantastique!
