Rating: Summary: I love It!! Review: I am a big fan of Vivian Vande Velde and Companions of the Night is easily my favorite book of hers. It is begging for a sequel, but I don't think that's happening any time soon. I aggree that there is some lacking in the ending, but it is still worth all five stars. Keep up the ggod work!
Rating: Summary: Five star! Review: I only rate books five stars if I could not put it down. I had just bought it and my mom had to go to Radio Shack and I couldn't wait to read it so I went to the car and started to read. It was so hot I was sweating but I stayed and read. It was so good that my friend and I are writing a book to complete this book mixing in a character from " dragon's Bait" which is another very good book by Vivian Vnade Velde. Soooooooo good. well got to go and read.- BB
Rating: Summary: An excellent young adult book Review: I'm sorry I didn't read this book sooner. This book has a highly original plot and characters. I enjoyed the mystery that surrounded Ethan, and how Van Velde never revealed the truth about him. To any teenager and adolescent, I recommend this book. It is a solid story that won't leave you disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Action packed novel! Review: Vivian Vande Velde is truly a gifted writer. Her book, "Companions of the Night" is sassy and intelligently crafted. The Vampire , Ethan/ he is down to earth and a rebel and Kerry is curious but helpful. Good work, Vivian!
Rating: Summary: Great Vampire Story and More! Review: I LOVED THIS BOOK! When I first read the summary, I thought, okay vampires - the usual story line....NOT SO! The story started out with a 16-year-old girl named Kerry. After a late-night trip to the laundrymat to retrieve a lost teddy bear for her brother, Kerry becomes involved in helping Ethan, the handsome stranger caught in a kidnapping and as an accused vampire. I immediately take a liking to Kerry and I can see how she became attracted to Ethan so quickly. The story was great with the "vampire rules" thrown in, twists between truth and lies, love and hate, trust and betrayal. Wonderful story, one of the best I've ever read! A must read! Kudos to the author!!
Rating: Summary: Absoutly the best book of all time! Review: When I first saw Companions of the Night in my school library, I had no idea what to expect. But after reading the first few pages, I couldn't put it down. This is my favorite book of all time and I would reccomend it to everyone! I would love to read the sequel!!
Rating: Summary: !!!!!I love this book!!!! Review: This book was so good I had to be force to put it down. I recommend this book for anyone who likes book written by author's like L.J.Smith . I wish Mrs. Velde would make a sequal to this book.
Rating: Summary: A hot thriller that masters vampires! Review: Ethan plays such a facinating character. He's both filled with mystery and danger in one. The more Kerry talks to him the more she finds that he's far more complicated than he seems. One second he'll be a kind companion that comforts and cares, and the next he shows what he truly is, a vampire. He's clever and gains her trust at a reasonable pace. I think that this is a masterpiece on showing deep into the human, and vampire, heart.
Rating: Summary: Soooo close to perfect and missed Review: Excellent description, lifelike characters, vampires, what else could you want? I loved the book. I could not set it down. I have always loved vampire stories and this was an excellent. My one teeny tiny complaint, the sappy, incredibly, cheesy ending. But that did not effect my over all love of the book and I am begging for a sequel.
Rating: Summary: Author Comment: How I Came to Write COMPANIONS OF THE NIGHT Review: I started COMPANIONS OF THE NIGHT because of a talk I was giving where--in giving illustrations--I used several examples from vampire stories. Someone commented that I had obviously given vampires a lot of thought and that I should write my own vampire story. I had thought about vampire legends, the conflicting "rules" or myths about them, and how in recent books and movies writers had stressed the horror and the gore. So I decided to go ahead and write that story, using the rules I thought made the most sense, writing for the kind of reader I am. I am very pleased to find that others enjoy the story, too.
