Rating: Summary: Stay up all night read Review: I have read all of John Saul's books and they just get better. This was definitely a book that was hard to put down. I really felt empathy for Caroline and her family. I have a 12 year old daughter and I understand all the trials and tribulations of raising a preteen. I know that I would also do anyting to protect my children. This story was scary in the fact you would have to look at your aging neighbors a little more carefully when they pay too much attention to the young...great late night reading!!
Rating: Summary: Exceptional!! Review: I love all John Saul's books, but I especially loved this one! Don't pass it up!
Rating: Summary: Great story with a twisted ending! Review: I love John Saul, and I can't wait to read his next novel. "Midnight Voices" is gripping and scary. Caroline and her children move into an old apartment building in New York with her new husband. Things aren't going so well, her son hates her new husband, she is hearing voices, and her daughter has horrible nightmares. When the reality of these nightmares becomes apparent, all Caroline can do is get sucked deeper and deeper into a maze of secrets that threatens both her children's lives as well as her own. The tale is haunting and very well written, props for John Saul!!

Rating: Summary: John Saul has a new fan.... Review: I read this book and thought it was fantastic. I loved the characters and I didn't want the story to end even though I wanted to know the outcome. I loved this book and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good thriller to read. I am definitely going to read his other books.
Rating: Summary: Truly breathtaking Review: I think that Midnight Voices was one of John Saul's most creative books yet. It was very suspenseful; it kept you turning the pages. Quick... only drawback was the quick ending. I truly hope there is a second part to this.
Rating: Summary: Simply Awful Review: I was not very entertained. The story was thin and predictable. The characters, especially the little boy, were unrealistic and unruly. If I rewrote the story, first I'd kill off the boy, he's a little brat. I thought the book lacked any common sense and depth. Awful...
Rating: Summary: A pretty good thriller Review: I'm not usually much for scary-type books but I decided I needed sort of a fix. This is definitely a book that will keep you up reading into the wee hours of the morning. The beginning is a little slow, but when it picks up its pace, the story gets a lot more interesting and it's really worth the wait. All through the book you are sympathizing with Caroline and when her suspicions concerning her new husband and other residents at The Rockwell arise, your mind spins with potential explainations of the strange and creepy events involving her children, Laurie and Ryan, and continues to spin as Saul adds more ingredients to the recipe. I'd recommend this book to people who want a story that is sort of scary, but too gory or gruesome, like those involving murderous crimes and things like that. There were a few minor things that bothered me about the writing style in several parts, but it's still altogether really worth the read.
Rating: Summary: Redundant Drivel Review: I've read many a John Saul book yet I have never run into this particular problem. I was bored beyond the first few chapters, I agree with the other reviewers when they made the point that Mr. Saul tried to hard to make his main character liked. Her daughter is totally forgettable and her son is an utter hellion. It was very predictable, one reason for that were the typical characters. The irate Social worker, and the gastrological challenged Detective. Not only that the actual method the spooky cronies were using to extract whatever juice from the children is never really explained. Vague descriptions gore and of the shadowy shapes that are committing these acts. All in all it was an extremely irritating (dare I say painful) book to actually finish. After closing the book I vowed to write a review so no one would make the same mistake I made in buying this book. I know Mr. Saul can do better than this.
