Rating: Summary: a flop Review: personally I didn't like this one. Not at all Koontz like, no thrills or suspense, just boredom and predictability.
Rating: Summary: Far-fetched, but OK Anyway Review: Simply put, this is not one of Koontz's better works. If you're new to this author, or if you're looking for one of his better novels, steer clear of this one.One of my main problems with "The Mask" was the idea of reincarnation. It was a pretty nice mystery up to that point, but once Koontz started explaining the impossible as if it were only obvious, the thrill started to die down. For a while I was still curious of how the book would end, but that didn't last long. After some detailings on evil spirits, poltergeists, and even posssessed cats (yes, I'm serious) it becomes pretty obvious what's going to happen. At the same time, Koontz still has his excellent writing ability and very clear descriptions to keep this novel from falling to utter disaster. If you're bored, you could do worse than "The Mask", but you could do a heck of a lot better too.
Rating: Summary: Not his best work Review: The Mask has a great plot- a girl with no history, no memory...what's behind her eyes? What's in her mind? However, Koontz got a little carried away & I don't think he quite pulled off this story. If you're looking for a great story by Koontz I'd recommend: The Bad Place, Key to Midnight, Whispers & Cold Fire.

Rating: Summary: The Mask Review: The Mask started as a chilling story of Laura Heavenswood, who recarnated herself into daughter of Carol Tracy. Carol's daughter tryed to kill her on night at a cabin on th mountain. from the middle of nowhare Jane doe appearde in the middle of the street. When Carol hit her, she took Jane to raise and help her regain her memory. During th process the truth was shocking.
Rating: Summary: quick read - even quicker ending Review: The Mask started out good enough. It kept me intruiged as to who the girl was and how all the characters fit in with the initial characters of the prologue. Some of the scenes were pretty scary. The plot and imagery reminded me of the movie The Ring, where a girl who was mistreated comes back from the dead to kill. The ending stunk. It just ended in the middle of a scene. I turned the page expecting another chapter but there was none. I wanted to know what happens to the characters after the drama of the last struggle. What happens to Laura/Jane?

Rating: Summary: Good Idea...but.... Review: The plot was a good one, up until the explanantion but he didn't do much wiht it. I liked the idea of the evil cat and the old woman. I also liked the idea of an axe-wielding foster-child, but she really wasn't evil it turned out. Just misunderstood. Makes for a happy ending. *gag*
Rating: Summary: Average Review: The plot was weak - the writing was good. I haven't read a lot of his work, but I am impressed with his skills. If you like koontz, read some of his other stuff first.
Rating: Summary: Hidden Behind the Mask is a Very Average Koontz Book Review: This book is not up to the usual high standard of masterpiece quality work by Dean Koontz. It is a very slow paced novel with not much action. Most of the words within this novel are trying to get you attached to Carol and her husband and in fact you never really do get attached. I to be honest did not really care what happened to them. Likewise Jane Doe did not do much for me either and I couldn't have cared less halfway through the book if she got over her amnesia or not. There are a few cool chapters of a fight to the death between an old lady and her beloved cat but you've got get through a lot of boring chapters to reach this scene. There are far better Koontz novels out there to spend your money on instead of this one. Night Chills, Watchers and Intensity are three ones that I can remember just off the top of my head but there are more literature masterpieces by Koontz as well. The Mask is definitely not one of them though.
