Rating: Summary: Entertaining, a good idea, but I saw most of it coming Review: I picked up "Blackstone Chronicles" from a bookstore, not because I had heard anything about it, but because I wanted to read some good horror. Now, having finished the book, I can say that it was well worth the buy. A good idea, an excellent setting and it made the hours pass by rapidly. The downside was however, that the foreshadowing gave the game away from early on. Still, I am now hooked on John Saul and will be on the look-out for his other novels.

Rating: Summary: The Blackstone Chronicles Review: I picked up this book becuase I had read a previous book by John Saul and loved it. This one is so fast paced, but it doesn't loose you. There are great twists and turns and the pschycology behind it is incredible. I definitely would recommend this book to someone who is looking for a good read.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Series Ever!!! Review: I read the Blackstone Chronicles when they first came out.Every month I'd be in suspense, the waiting and antcipation for the next part to come out was almost painful.John Saul is probably my favorite writer. The way he weaves the past into the present is brillant.Actually this was his first work I read and now I devour everyone of his works that I can get my hands on!!!!
Rating: Summary: You Will Get Goosebumps Review: I read the six-month installments in 1997. This is vintage John Saul -- the delightfully insidious terror that overtakes a sleepy little village. These books left me wanting more. I thought he did an excellent job of building the suspense and creating very interesting characters. What really made these installments so wonderful was the reintroduction of characters from previous books. I certainly hope John Saul does another Blackstone series or novel -- we would love it!
Rating: Summary: Lots of fun, but flawed ending Review: I read this in the original serial form, and it was lots of fun. I love horror stories about horror connected to inanimate objects, such as dolls and necklaces. Also, I love horror stories that make me feel sympathetic for characters who were mistreated by people who should've loved them. This reminded me of the books of this type I used to read in high school -- except that it was better written. The characters are much more memorable. However, I think the story fizzled out in the last couple of editions of the the serial. The ending wasn't as good as it could have been. I had even more fun with the publisher's original "Blackstone Chronicles" web site. Especially the diner! Anne M. Marble Reviewer, All About Romance
Rating: Summary: This was one of the best series I have read Review: I think he did a good job on this. I couldn't put the books down once i got them. They were very suspenseful and I do hope he does something like this again.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not great Review: I thought I was going to be in for a great novel, but it turned out that it was just an average book. Although I was extremely happy to see the resurrection of some of Sauls old characters (Elizabeth from Suffer the Children, Melissa and Charles Holloway from Second Child) I was disappointed with the writing. It was not as exciting as I first thought it to be. It didn't really hold me and the ending was predictable. However, as I said before, I loved the idea of Saul putting in old characters and hope that he does this again.

Rating: Summary: Pretty good for a copy Review: I would say this is one of the better of Saul's books I have read (but by all means have I read all of his books, only about half of them). It was an interesting story idea. Unfortunately I couldn't help but compare it to the Green Mile, and we all know that you just cannot compare Saul with King. He doesn't even come close. In fact, reading this series made me think of what King said in Danse Macabre (if you don't know buy the book and use the index). All in all this is a pretty decent book(s), but it just seemed to me a cheap marketing strategy to sell more books. I didn't see why he felt he had to write this story in the way he did. Just copying the master I guess.
