Rating: Summary: Very good. It DOES keep you waiting for the next chapter Review: I bought once the first installment of The Blackstone Chronicles, thinking: what the heck, why not. So I read it, and it did what a good serial book must do: it made me go and buy the next one... and the next one... The most interesting thing here is not the story, but the characters. Saul achieved a great bunch of characters which you come to love. And the town of Blackstone came out great, too... I mean, it's not Castle Rock, but I sure wouldn't mind coming back to Blackstone again. I enjoyed the ride, and I hope to come back and take a look at what Oliver and the guys are up to sometime.
Rating: Summary: Spooooky!!! Review: I consider it the best book I've read so far by John Saul. Very creepy. Had times late at night when it made my skin crawl. Loved it!
Rating: Summary: I loved it! I think this is the best of John Saul's books! Review: I enjoyed the Blackstone Chronicles thoroughly. I felt like I was there in Blackstone, his descriptions are so real and his characters are so alive. I couldn't put down this excellent book until I'd read every page. I enjoyed The Green Mile as well, but I much prefer Saul as an author over Stephen King.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I have read most of John Saul's books, and I would have to say that The Blackstone Chronicles was extremely disappointing. It was not very suspenseful and the ending was very anti-climatic. Definitely not one of Saul's better efforts.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I have read nearly all of John Saul's work and this pales in comparison. There was very little suspense in it, unless you read it in the originally published serial format. This novel focuses on the town of Blackstone (New Hampshire?) and the insane asylum built there. Gifts from the old days of the asylum are finding their way into the hands of Blackstone's current populous. With each gift comes some traumatic event and a mystery swirling with it. This is a simple work, but I guess as you read Saul's notes, it's not nearly as simple as it appears due to the serial publishing nature. For those interested in reading something by Saul, I would recommend "Sleepwalk", "The Homing", or "The God Project" over this one.

Rating: Summary: Great Story! Review: I like the way that John Saul wrote this book. I'm glad that I bought all 6 at one time, because I don't think that I could have waited for the next one to come out. The ending could of been better, but I think that the book itself was fantastic!
Rating: Summary: loved the book it had alot of twist and turns Review: i liked the end of the book and i could not wait to read the next part of the series. most of all i liked the use of items that where connect to the past and presented a problem in the future.
Rating: Summary: he's at it again! Review: I LOVE John Saul- his writings are remarkably spooky and gripping. His Chronicles was in line with the rest of his novels. Although the plot was a bit predictable, it still had me flipping through the pages. It was quick reading (maybe just because I couldn't put it down) and I felt satisfied when I finally put it down. I highly recommend this book along with all J.Saul's others. I especially like his book "Monster"...that one takes the prize.
Rating: Summary: A good, quick read with suspense! Review: I loved this book. I bought it after playing the video game based on the book. It was excellent reading...a good book to read over a relaxing weekend. Nearly impossible to put down!
