Summary: Suspenseful Book!
Review: This is a great book if you like suspense. Racheal is not sure how great it will be to have her so called perfect cousin, Julia come stay with them. But when she arrives, Racheal had no idea what Julia had in mind for the future. This book is so good, and it keeps you reading, and you can't put it down. The end is a big surprise too! I really recomend this book!

Summary: Summer of Chills!
Review: If you like to read horror and suspenseful books, then this is the one for you. I really enjoyed reading this book because it was like a puzzle. The reader had to put all the pieces together to solve the mystery. It kept me on my toes while I was reading it. The first 100 pages were a little slow, but they still held my interest to keep reading. I wanted to know what was going to happen! I could easily relate to the characters because they were teen-agers. They had the same problems as I do. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

Summary: This was Duncan's best book ever!
Review: This book was soooooo good! I liked it so much. I couldn't put it down! Seriously. I liked it mainly because I felt like I was in the book. I could feel Rachel's frustration when nobody listned or believed her, and everyone went on thinking she was jealous of Julia, and Julia was an innocent teenager, hurt by Rachels accusations of her being a witch. Rachel had all the proof she needed to convince HERSELF that Julia was a witch, but she couldn't prove it to anyone else! Then one day, Rachel finds out something about Julia, that will change her life forever. It will never be the same. Never.

Summary: Can I say boring?
Review: I guess I was wrong when I thought Lois Duncan's Summer of Fear was going to be an exciting mystery. The book was not a complete bore, but also not as intense as I imagined. I figured that a story about an evil cousin who is making everything go wrong for a family would be interesting and mysterious. Instead, the story was slightly boring. No particular situation really held my attention well. I did not really enjoy the book, but I did like one of the characters. Julia, being the devious troublemaker, would have to be may favorite character. I like her character because she does not let any situation or anyone stand in her way when she wants something. For example, when Julia first arrived to live with her aunt and uncle, she told her cousin Rachel to keep the family dog, Trickle, away from her. Julia claimed dogs did not take a liking to her. Rachel didn't listen and figured Trickle would learn to like Julia. Well, Trickle didn't have to learn to like anybody because the dog died a couple of days after Julia's arrival. Wasn't this situation convenient? Also, Rachel had a school dance she could not attend because she suddenly broke out into a rash. Julia attended, though, wearing Rachel's new dress and showing up with Rachel's boyfriend, Mike. This all shows how determined Julia is to get what she wants. I also like the way Julia pretends to be a perfect angel around her aunt and uncle, but when they are nowhere near, Julia will have a totally different personality. The funny part is, Julia will act so sincere towards Rachel at the dinner table because her aunt and uncle are around, but once Julia is alone upstairs with Rachel, Julia's attitude turns a complete 360 degrees. Julia will tell her how Rachel will never be able to prove to anybody the way Julia really is. This, of course, shows Julia's good and evil personality qualities, which are the reasons why I like Julia's character the most, unlike Rachel's. Rachel, being the boring character, would be my least favorite. Rachel just whines a lot about Julia, which is understandable, but eventually, I got sick of reading Rachel's lines because of her constant complaining. Rachel was also very repetitive about situations. If Rachel said she was sick of sharing a room with Julia, she said this about ten more times within the next few pages, along with other complaints. Some of the other complaints were of how Julia was evil and how she was going to prove this to everybody. I mean, maybe I'm exaggerating, but after reading her whining lines so may times, they seem like I'm reading them over and over. This also makes Rachel's character boring. If Rachel got to do something other than prove to everybody who the bad guy is, then her character might be more exciting. Instead, Rachel doesn't really have any exciting scenes, except for having everything bad happen to her like the dog dying, her boyfriend dumping her, and nobody believing her when she told them Julia was evil. Already, I'm not a big Lois Duncan fan. This is the first and probably last one I would read. Once again, maybe this is just me, but I don't find any of this at all enertaining. She is probably a very good writer, but I think that because I'm used to reading Dean R. Koontz and Stephen King books, I tend to compare her to them. If I had never read books by Koontz and King and read one of Duncan's first, I would probably love her writing. Therefore, I would recommend this book to people who are looking for a short mystery book that is not scary. But, who knows? Somebody else will probably love Lois Duncas's writing and think something's just totally wrong with me?

Summary: A very suspensful book which is full of excitement
Review: I started this book thinking that it was going to be one of those books that are good but not great. I started it and I was amazed that I could not put it down. I really could not put it down! Lois Duncan is a great writer and she makes many different characters. Julia and Rae are one of the best characters in a book that I have ever read, and I have read a lot of books. This is an incredible book...don't miss out on it, because if you do, then you will be missing one of the best books of the decade, and once you do read it, you will say to yourself, why did I not read this before.

Summary: An Awesome Book..
Review: There is no doubt in my mind that this book shouldn't get 5 stars. Julia was the ultimate villain and Rachel was a great victim. I read this book in one day and read it over and over. I have read this book 10 times. And the last time I read it was 2 months ago.

Summary: Memories.......
Review: Someone on a mailing list I belong to, was aking if this book had been made into a movie, and I remembered that it was. Under a different name, though. I saw the movie when I was young, like maybe elementary or junior high. This is book has one of the best, and has one of the better screen adaptations, so unlike "I Know What...." And to think that movie was made in 1978, and "I Know...." in 1997. Crazy, ain't it. I must admit, Lois Duncan's books never get old. Ever. She's the patron saint to Young Adult Thriller Writers everywhere.

Review: This book was really great. At first it started out as a sad tragety, but truned out in the end to be an eye-opening mystery. When the evil "Julie" comes to stay, weird things start to happen. Read it and see! When I finished it, I was so suprised at how it turned aout. This book is good for ages 11 and up, as long as you like a good mystery. This is a very good book and you should read it immedatly.
