Rating: Summary: A jucie and suspenseful book Review: It was another regular summer for Rachel and her family when they got an unexpected telephone call that would change there lives forever. Before they knew it, their cousin Julia was living with them in Albupuerque. Julia is going to be staying in Rachel's room, and Rachel has no other sisters, (only two other brothers.) so she decides to be nice to Julia and treat her as if she was her own sister. Soon some weird things started to happen and Rachel was all alone. All her friends, family, and even her own boyfriend were against her and she was left trying to show everyone who Julia really was. One of the main characters is Rachle who is a seventeen-year-old girl with red hair. She just got out of school and was on summer vacation. She was just like any other student on vacation, waiting to have a good time. Her boyfriend is Mike who lives next door. Julia was my favorite character because, I would have done the same thing to try and protect my family. She is also very brave. She went to great lenghts to try and uncover the truth about Julia. She even made her whole family, friends, and borfriend turn on her. Whether or not the truth was uncovered. Thats what you'll have to find out. The other main character is Julia. Right off the bat I felt bad for her. I thought she was a sweet girl that had just had something tragic happen in her life. When she went shopping, they described her as a beautiful thin girl with smoothe curves. As soon as she knew it, she had a boyfriend, a best friend, and everyone admiring her. She seemed like a nice girl in everyone's eyes except Rachel's. One thing to say about her was that she was very sneaky and cleaver. Some good things about the story were all the endings of the chapters were cliffhangers, and they made you want to keep reading. Another good thing was it was very socking and suspenseful! A bad thing about the book was the ending wasn't as good as the rest as the book. It was a very good book but when I got to the end, I was shocked, but not a good shocked. Although I thought the ending was disappointing, the rest of the book was great! I am recommending this book for people who like suspense and mystery. Thats why I'm giving this book four out of five stars.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Until The Ending Review: I thought that this book was pretty good up until Rachael found out the truth. I don't wanna spoil it for you so I won't tell you but I didn't like the ending.
Rating: Summary: great for any age Review: I first read SUMMER OF FEAR in high school and found it to be the first book I couldn't put down, actually reading it all the way through in one sitting! Lois Duncan takes typical teenage angst and self-conscious paranoia and spins them together in a web of horror and mystery. Rachel is the number one priority of her family until her cousin Julia (parents recently deceased) moves in. The two bond as sisters at first, but when Julia begins to receive all the attention, Rachel's jealousy kicks into high gear. The spin here is when "accidents" and deaths become common place. Rachel suspects Julia to be responsible, but the jealousy Rachel's family has witnessed lend them to believe Rachel is just looking for attention, leaving her to discover her "cousin's" evil secrets and legacy. A great suspense novel I still reread occasionally. Check out the movie starring a teenaged Linda Blair as "Rachel" and Fran (The Nanny) Drescher as her best friend!
Rating: Summary: Highly Readable! Review: Summer of Fear is one of those rare page-turners that you neverwant to end. In the book, we meet young Rachel, your averageteenager. Rachel's aunt and uncle have recently died in a car crash, and her cousin Julia is forced to move into Rachel's home. However, Rachel soon comes to find that Julia has a dark side, and is indeed a witch! But there's more to Julia then being a witch...MUCH more...Excellently written, this book is chilling and fun!
Rating: Summary: One of the the best books I've ever read Review: From the first page you will be intrigued. This book grabs your attention, and doesn't let it go until you ar efinished. Mrs. Duncan did a great jo of telling the frightening story of what happened to a girl, Rachel, when her cousin, Julia, came to visit.Everything was going fine until Rachel's cousin came to town, and completely destroyed her life. Rachel has to struggle against everyone she knows to try to get them to see the evil in Julia. Lois Duncan has once again earned the title of a master storyteller!
Rating: Summary: Duncan can Scare up good thrills Review: An excellent suspenseful thriller, Summer for Fear follows Rachel and her cousin Julia in a search of truth, witchcraft and cat-mouse game of wits. After Julia arrives Rachel senses something is wrong with her and questions it while everyone else is enchanted with Julia. Julia may have powers unavailable to Rachel but Rachel's love, devotion to her family and unswerving faith in herself make her a worthy opponent against this evil invasion. A definite scary ride on the evil side. If you like romance, spooky plots and happy endings, this book is for you!

Rating: Summary: SCARY, HIP, AND COOL! Review: This was a great book! Every chapter ended with a cliff-hanger! The book is about a girl named Rachel who's cousin Julia's parents die in a car wreck. Julia moves in with Rachel's family, and at first she seems nice, but soon Rachel learns the truth about Julia...she's a witch! Rachel trys to expose Julia to her family and friends, but Julia has gained everyone's admiration...even Rachels boy-friend's! But soon, Rachel learns there's even more to Julia than her being a witch...much, much more... This book was so addictive, it was as if Julia had cast a spell on me; I couldn't put the book down! I'd definately reccomend this book to ANYONE. Enjoy!

Rating: Summary: Another great book from Lois Duncan! Review: I have read many other Lois Duncan books. I was not planning on reading "Summer of fear" until my friend recommended it to me. She said that it was really good, so I took her suggestion and read it. I agree with her. It is a wonderful book about a 15 year-old girl named Rachel who lives in Albuquerque with her parents and her 2 brothers when her aunt and uncle and a buisness associate drive off the side of a cliff in the Ozarks. Her parents go to pick up Rachel's aunt and uncle's daughter Julia. Strange things start happening and Rachel is convinced that Julia is somehow connected to them. The rest of the family thinks she's crazy. Lois Duncan is an amazing writer and this book is surely one of her best books. So buy "Summer of Fear" and start reading!
