Rating: Summary: Snags a lot in the middle Review: While dolls with pins stories are nothing new to me, this one is quite good. The book picks up well and ends well, but the middle few chapters are somewhat boring. Another twist is the way Christabel behaves with the kid Amber. The plot is very good and I finished it in a couple of days reading non-stop.
Rating: Summary: Fast-paced Ghost yarn Review: 'Haunted' is a wonderfully fast paced ghost story. The characters are well drawn and the plot exciting if somewhat far-fetched. Be warned that the book contains quite a bit of sex. This is must reading for fans of 'Poltergeist' or authors like John Saul and Richard Laymon.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful and Terrifying...This book is SO SCARY... Review: Tamara Thorne's novel is one of the best I've ever read. She presents an amazing plot with all kinds of twists and spooky ideas. The atmosphere is downright terrifying..."Body House" lives up to its name. If you really want a summary, the poem printed at the front of the novel tells readers what's to come: "One body, two bodies, three bodies, four/Check up in the attic, seven bodies more/ There's a dead man in the kitchen, and a blood slick in the hall/ Twenty men are hanging dead upon the garden wall." Body House is a definite must-read.
Rating: Summary: A stunning book, well written with wonderfull twists. Review: I don't usually read horror, I've read a little Stephen King (kinda have to living in the same town as the guy). Tamara Thorne's books enthrall me though. Her view of ghosts in this book is extravagant. Her writting captures the reader and keeps you reading untill you hunger for more. I anxiously await more from her as she is a wonderfull writer.

Rating: Summary: No poodles were harmed during this story Review: I just finished reading Haunted by Tamara Thorne. A horror writer and his daughter move into a (you guessed it!) haunted house on the California coast. The writer believes that the house will inspire him for his new book. Well, yeah, I guess it does. The house is haunted by an evil teenaged voodoo priestess prostitute (trust me, it works) who murdered a bunch of people and trapped their souls in a bunch of weird little anatomically-correct dolls that she made to look like her victims before she herself was murdered in 1915. Just to make things even more fun, her spirit can influence living people and possess some of them, and her presence is accompanied by the strong odors of jasmine and rotting flesh. Yay? This book was a great ride and hard to put down. The characters were vivid and the story well-told. I love the way Tamara Thorne's mind works. She is one sick puppy with a weird sense of humor. Cool. Though it is a very real possibility that I will never wear jasmine again. Or rotting flesh, but that is another story entirely..... No poodles were harmed in this one (unlike her novel Bad Things) --- just real estate agents. And sailors. And some hippies. No poodles though.
Rating: Summary: scary book that was hard to put down Review: I enjoy reading any good story and a scary one even better but have found that King, Koonz, etc. don't appeal to me. Strictly personal choice and no reflection on those great authors. So I was a little leary when I began this book but decided to give it a try due to several recommendations. I was hooked from the start and kept turning pages to find out what was going to happen next. The author (Tamara Thorne) writes with dry wit that I found highly amusing and she kept the spooky factor to a close to believeable level. I do not believe in ghosts but this story made me pause for thought. The whole voodoo plot with the mother/daughter struggle was spine chilling. Not one slow spot in the book. "Haunted" is a well written story with a creepy plot that never stumbles, contains dialogue that easily flows from scene to scene and has memorable characters. As soon as I finished this story, I ran out and bought another book by this author. Definitely a keeper!

Rating: Summary: That's what I'm talking about! Review: Loved the book! I kept thinking of Jeff Goldblum as "David Masters". The only reason I gave it four stars was because I didn't care for how the author did away with the man in black--he was so EVIL and could have done a lot more for the plot rather than getting rid of the annoying housekeeper! I'm a new Tamara Thorne fan!
Rating: Summary: Must read Review: I have to admit that I was very disappointed with the novel after reading the glowing reviews. This book was probably one of two books I have never finished. I just could not bring myself to complete it. I honestly found no character that pulled me in emotionally. Everyone seemed to be caricatures of one fault or another, including the father and daughter. In all honesty, my opinion of almost every book or movie rests with the abilty to care about at least one character. In this book, I found no one. I was turned off by every person in the story. And as for the chills, I did not see what the other reviewers saw. I have never been one to put someone off of something. But this time I just had to write something down. Judging by all of the other reviews, I am in the extreme minority. I may give another of Tamara Thorne's novels a try. It may have just been this particular book.
