Rating: Summary: The caption "Jurassic Shark" says it best Review: Mix Jaws and Jurassic Park and you get the idea here... Megaladoon's were real sharks that existed in pre-historic time. Fossil records (& surviving teeth!) prove their existance, though much is still unknown.
This book is based on a "What if?" What if they were really living in the superheated Marianna trench? What if we were to accidentily bring one up? The answer is a horror of enormous proportions as the goliath sharks are unleashed on a modern environment unable to take them.
Mix an archeology and evolution lesson from the author, and you get a much better than usual horror story. By the end you'll be asking yourself, "Could it really be true?"
Good story in all. I suspect it was written with a movie deal in mind, as the action sequences get a little bold and over the top. It's not high literature, but it's a quick and enjoyable book that I've shared with friends.
Rating: Summary: Deep Terror Indeed Review: The cover says "A novel of deep terror," and that's no lie. MEG completely blew me away when I read it, and I literally (not lying here) broke into a cold sweat when the Meg attacked the training dummy in the one chapter. People think giant sharks aren't scary, but if regular-sized ones freak them out so much, then why wouldn't humongous ones send them running? Steve Alten proves monster sharks can be truly terrifying in this book, which culminates in a final battle that left me near-mindless with awe. I highly suggest you pick this book up--several times, in fact.
Rating: Summary: The Birth Of Terror! Review: Welcome back to the world Megaladon! MEG is an amazing read, full of action and terror. Remember JAWS? Well, to MEG, Jaws is the size of a goldfish cracker! Happy swimming!
Rating: Summary: This book is a MUST Review: I am personally not a big reader, nor do I enjoy most books, but "MEG" was probably the BEST book I've ever read. I really enjoyed "Jaws" and MEG is 10 times better. The story is extremely well developed and played out. I honestly cannot recommend it any higher than "near-perfect." The only downfall I had with this book was a paper cut.
