Rating: Summary: My Fastest Read Ever! Review: I am 13 years old, but it only took me two days to read this 1.5 inch novel. If you don't really give a crap about how accurate the facts are or how lame the plot is, and all you like is plenty of action, this book is for you.
Rating: Summary: Megalodon Is the Real Star Of The Show Review: Steve Alten's Meg is the most entertaining marine novel I have ever read! It explains facts about Megalodons in layman's terms. I noticed that people said that the facts weren't very true. Who kknows that much about Megalodons?! Remember, the bodies don't float! So nobody knows! This book also has lots of thrills! I have not finished the book, so I hope that Maggie gets eaten! then I would hope that Jonas lives with Terry. This is also nice because Alten doesn't just make the story center around making people bleed and be eaten. This is a book that I would recommend to anyone who wanst to read something fun.
Rating: Summary: Quick-read, exciting non-stop action Review: This is a good book for what it is. A quick-read full of action and suspense. True, that somes scenes are predictable and maybe unbelievable. Tell me, could a person actually survice inside this giant sharks belly for that long? Hmmm...
Rating: Summary: MEG should have stayed Extinct! Review: This book was full of food!(corn and cheese)I feel sorry for someone who feels this book compares in the slightest with Peter Benchley's, JAWS. The suspense slowly peaked to a sputter, and came crashing back down again with a very dissapointing finale! If you want a good shark book I suggest you read JAWS, even if you already read it!
Rating: Summary: Dr. Jonas Taylor confronts a prehistoric shark. Review: This classic combination of Marine and Thriller genres brings out the best in Alten. The Megalodon is descibed in 90's terms, making it that much easier for us to understand its actual appearance. I would definately reccomend this book to a person over 14, who has trouble finding a book that interests him.
Rating: Summary: FAST PACED AND EXCITING A FIVE STAR THRILLER. Review: I found ALTEN"S MEG. To be the best shark novel since JAWS. It has action, suspense, and terror all rolled into one. I found myself not wanting to put the book down. I have always wonderd about the possibility of CHARCHDON MEGLADON'S, exsistence and what would happen if it was accidentally discoverd in the modern era. I suspect that possibly one of these sharks may have been the shark that swallowed Jonah whole in the bible. Anway getting back to the novel . I would recommend it to anyone who likes to be on the edge of thier seat while reading . This will make a great movie . I can't wait to see it.
Rating: Summary: The worst book ever. Review: This book is easily the worst book I have ever read. I have read and watched enough science fiction that I am able to used my imagination or suspend my disbelief in order to enjoy a book or movie, but this book is simply ridiculous. I am no marine biologist or ocenographer, but I simply could not believe 90% of the "science" in this book. The poor science coupled with cookie-cutter characters and an oh-so-predictable plot(oh, gee, the ex-wife got eaten, what a surprise!) make for one lousy read. You can defintely tell that this is written as as a screenplay with all of the expostional dialagoue. It reminded me of the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation when characters needed to explain their roles to fellow crew members for the audience's sake. Do not buy this book. Do not believe that it is a great summer read. There are too many other page turners out there to waste your time with this garbage.
Rating: Summary: Fast Fun Fiction. Review: I enjoyed the fast pace of this book. A few reviews here have criticized the book as too fake or non-realistic, I have one thing to say....the word here is FICTION! If you open the book and open your imagination most people will truely enjoy this creative adventure. From start to finish, it's a page turner. Sometimes it's nice to pick up a book and just have easy entertaining read. I'd relate this book to like going to a video store and renting Terminator insead of The Godfather. Great Job Mr. Alten! Thank you for not waisting my time.
Rating: Summary: Non-stop realistic deep-sea action! Review: The author portrays the characters and action scenes so well, that you can feel yourself in the book with the characters. Much more intelligent than Jaws, and you can even learn a little about the 60 ft Meg shark. Didn't like the ending too much, but book is well worth it.
Rating: Summary: A book of all deep terror and giant sharks. Review: The book MEG. The book does contain profanity, gore and a little bit of adult humor. I really wouldn't recommend this book to anyone younger that 14 years of age. Even if you didn't like Jurassic Park or 20,000 leagues under the sea your still going to like this book. Meg is a book packed full of action and terrifying situations. You'll have to read into the book a little ways before the real action comes in so you need to have a little patience with it. This book, Meg, is about an over grown, prehistoric great white shark, Know as a megladon. It was the most feared hunter of its time of its time and some how survive the ice age in the marina trench 7 miles under the sea which is the wormiest point on earth. The Meg is trapped in the marina trench for millions of years by a wall of freezing cold water until a navel mission goes terribly wrong a releases the beast from its cage. Now a 60-ft great white shark with 9 in teeth is reeking havoc on the California coast. This shark is the perfect hunter that can sense blood or even a heart beat from over a mile away and feels vibration from movement. Now the navy wants to catch this thing which is their first mastic. Now the Meg has the taste for human blood and is going on a rampage. The author of this book went into a lot of detail and really let you know the charters. The book could make a great movie.
