Summary: Let's feed the author to the sharks
Review: In the Author's Note, Steve Alten writes, "A tremendous amount of research went into the making of this novel in order to maintain a high degree of realism." Um, no. Research? Yeah right. Realism? Look elsewhere. Novel? HOW ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH WAS THIS EVER PRINTED??? MEG is without a doubt the WORST book I have ever read. I picked it up expecting a great in-flight read about sharks, the ocean, and suspense (all things i thoroughly enjoy). Now I'm ready to burn it. This book has it all: thoughtless plot, two-dimensional, cartoon characters, utter abandonment of reality, 100% predictability, terrible, uninspired writing style...need I continue? Well, I will anyway. Within one page of being introduced to a character, I could tell whether or not he/she was good or bad. If bad, he/she was gauraunteed shark fodder. The suspense was non-existent due to the author's poor grasp of the language, as were the descriptions, and any shreds of scientific research came across as so much unimpressive b.s. I'm disgusted that book critics could call this whale-sized underwater turd "an adrenaline-pumping thriller," or even compare it to Michael Crichton novels, which are by no means great. Steve Alten, please, I'm begging you, go back to sports medicine.

Summary: This was beautiful.
Review: In the course of human history, there comes along a great work of art every few hundred years. Michalengelo's paintings, Charles Dicken's novels, and the 1985 Chicago Bears' defense. We have seen in Meg that special something. I have a strong feeling that Steven Alten had nothing to do with this book Rather that God himself, sat down to write what would become a book rivaling that of the Holy Scriptures. Wait, this book has othing to do with Meg Ryan. Stupid Freakin sharks, they ruin everythings. I bet this "Meg" ate Meg Ryan just so he could have her name. I will cry now.

Summary: If the movie is half as good as the book, I'll be satisfied!
Review: I loved this book! It's to bad I lost it.I liked the way Jonas killed the shark. You know,he cut his heart out with a megaladon's tooth. However I think it's alittle far fetched that Jonas could live inside the megaladon's stomach.I'm a big fan of sea-horror books.Peter Benchley's my favorite Author.I liked Beast the best.Although Jaws was a very good novel.

Summary: What an enthraling book MEG is.
Review: What a book! I bought it on holiday, and couldn't put it down for the whole flight home! The descriptions of the shark was amazing, and I really felt as if this 60ft mass maneater was right before me, and I felt the claustrophobia along with Jonas and I am not even Claustrophobic! I would absoulutly LOVE there to be a film made of this book, I would most definitly buy it. Steve Alten is a very talented writer, who is destined for great things, and he really knew what he was talking about as he's been studying Megs for years! Keep it up! The modern day JAWS!

Summary: Meg - the book, not the shark - plumbs the depths
Review: There's little point repeating the criticism already set out here by so many who disliked the book. What depresses me is the attitude of those who say, in effect, "so what if its trash, that's all I want for my in-flight reading." As Emerson said: "People don't deserve good writing, they're too happy with the bad."

Summary: great read, hard to put down
Review: This book was about a supposedly long extinct shark that somehow stayed alive. At first it was hard to believe but as the action took off it was much more believeable. Once you start this book you can't put it down.

Summary: this was a book
Review: There were pages. There were words. There were numbers on said pages. Periods, commas, colons, even semi-colons. I was so excited, I nearly cried in joy. I never really had a family that cared, but I know MEG does.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Entertaining can't wait for the movie
Review: Good book for a fist time writer, not a lot of meat though. This book only really grazes the surface. Still I enjoyed reading it and it was very entertaining. This book is a close 2nd to Extinct.
