Rating: Summary: I could have been better Review: The book was fun, but the story was not developed fully or well written. I enjoyed the idea of the story as I am a Jaws fan, but would not recommend this to anyone. If you felt as I did, and haven't yet read any of Crichton's works, do so.
Rating: Summary: This book was great and I hope there's a sequel Review: Steve Alten, a first time author wrote this book because of his fascination with sharks and the ancient megalodon. This book is packed with action and full of suspense. It is about a man named Jonas who knows a lot about megalodons, giant prehistoric sharks, and if possible he wants to know more. One day there is a submarine expedition to the mariana's trench. Something goes wrong and the subs disappear without a trace. Something is rising fast, hurtling itself towards the surface. Terror hits beaches around the world. Whales are beached, half eaten. It has arrived. This book is for people that love action, suspense, gore, and facts about marine life. A very good book, so read it if you have a chance.
Rating: Summary: Decent beach reading Review: Pretty dumb book story-wise. I think the author did TONS of research, but came up short when it came to writing a meaningful book, but it's entertaining enough weekend fodder.
Rating: Summary: BeSt BoOk EvEr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This was the best book I have ever read. I read it like a year ago though. If anyone knows anything about the sequel please email me at bdlt@earthlink.net Also anyone who has read and enjoyed this book, should also try a book by Michael Crichton called "Sphere"! This is another wonderful book.
Rating: Summary: May the megalodon live on Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read. SUPERB!! This book is one of those books to give me fuel to continue my research. BEAUTIFUL theory in the book as to the disappearance of the Megalodon. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The book was very well written and thoroughly researched. In my personal opinion the beginning in the Challenger Deep was the best part. If you are interested in learning about Megalodons go to http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Chamber/7454. Page however is still under re-construction.
Rating: Summary: EXCITING! Couldn't wait to see how it ended. Review: When I purchased this book, I was just looking for something to read to help me through my lonely lunch hour. I ended up taking a whole hour lunch instead of my usual 30 minutes. I thought the "MEG" was very well thought out. If a person has any imagination or creative capabilities, you will be completely drawn in by this book. I would like to congratulate Steve Alten on his first novel. I can't wait to read what he puts out next.
Rating: Summary: AMAZON.COM = CENSORSHIP Review: Meg was a lousy paperback. I felt that the characters were poorly developed, and what potentially could have been an excellent read degraded into a very predictable plot which was further degraded by a series of very unrealistic events (i.e. the mere sight of the giant shark causes a bunch of choppers to collide). I would avoid this one and instead dust off my old Peter Benchley novels.
Rating: Summary: A great book, cant wait for a sequel Review: I just have to say something to all the people out there who didn't like this book because it wasn't real. Well guess what? Thats why its called fiction. In fiction you can write anything and it works. I myself, having some knowledge on these prehistoric beasts loved this book and want a sequel, which I understand is almost out. But if you don't like endings that are a little different or that don't usually happen. Dont read it. There is something for you as well. Like the children's section. Im sure you'll find something nice.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Meg was the best book I have ever read!!! Review: Meg was the best book I have ever read. I usually don't read a lot but this changed my whole life. I will be going to college in 2 years and this book changed my whole career status.
Rating: Summary: The book is interesting and will please Jurassic Park fans. Review: As you read this book you will become more and more engulfed into the story. Yes, the ending may be a little to exaggerated but all in all it was a good book. But I also must say it is no Jurassic Park.
