Summary: If Lecter played with explosives...
Review: This is one possible result. The book is a grabber. You're into it and moving on a fast and enjoyable ride, much like a summer blockbuster movie. But when you stop to think, you realize how many holes are in the plot. Who keeps handing out phones the bad guy always calls? No one could drive in Boston at any speed, especially not as described in a beyond belief chase thru the Callahan Tunnel. The key to enjoying this one is- don't think, just go for a ride.

Summary: You Will Need A Break After This One
Review: This is the story of four men with psychopathic personalities. Two who are vicious murderers? The other two are FBI profilers? Maybe if you are a profiler for that type of serial killer you have to be psychopath? One of the criminals, Hamilton, who went to prison for a series of crimes so vicious, that when he attacked Jack Casey, FBI, the primary character in this story, Jack was committed to an institution for the insane for time to recover.

Jack Casey was the FBI profiler assigned the Hamilton case earlier and helped put him away.

He came back to from a recommended break in Colorado where he was working in carpentry as therapy. Jack came back to a job with a police force in a supposable peaceful town north of Boston. But killers seem to find him. Another psychopath who had some connection with Hamilton started killing families and blowing up whole neighborhoods. This one called himself Sandman. The bad thing was he knew Jack and the problem from which he was recovering. Jack found a savior in another ex-FBI profiler who was extremely highly intelligence and a bit of a psychopath himself. Jack had a very good woman, Taylor, who learned to know the Sandman to her dismay. Saving her life turned into a big task.

For just plan torture and bloody killing I do not believe you can find a more interesting book.

Summary: Great book... couldnt stop reading it!
Review: This novel's protagonist is Jack Casey, an ex-FBI profiler with a tragic past. His wife and unborn child were killed by a pyschopath killer, Miles Hamilton, a case he was working on. Casey was forced to witness the murder, unable to do anything but sit and watch the event unfold. After that incident and with the killer locked in a mental institution, Jack quit the FBI and undergone some therapy. Years later, he returned the crime-fighting force as a detective for the Marblehead Massachusetts police dept. He had also started rebuilding his life with his current girlfriend.

Jack's current case involves another psychopath, known as the Sandman, who enters victims' houses and kills the entire family. This case brought back many bad memories for Jack: his wife's death and his guilt at not being able to protect her, his anger and rage, etc. The Sandman himself is on a mission to take down the FBI. He bombed a federal building and stole explosives before he headed to Marblehead. It turns out he was a victim of some medical research and testing facility ran by the FBI. He's on a personal vendetta against all people that was involved. The families he targeted were not random. One of the family members were either a doctor or nurse of the research facility.

The Sandman is a dangerous opponent. He uses advanced surveilance methods to monitor Jack and his team. By setting up bombs at unexpected places, he kills many police officers and other rescue agents. He also threatens Jack that his girlfriend's life will be in danger if he doesn't back off. As if the Sandman is not enough a problem, Jack has to confront his ex-employer from the FBI, Alan Lynch. Alan has his own mission, that is to wipe off all evidence of FBI involvement in the medical research facility where they used prisoners as testing subjects, and where the Sandman escaped from. Alan had employed a government assassin to kill the Sandman and anyone who may know about the facility, including any other FBI agents or police officers if necessary.

Jack seeks the aid of a retired FBI profiler Malcolm Fletcher, who's on the run from the FBI since his attempt to expose the researh and testing program. Malcolm knew the Sandman from his past investigation of the program. He also knows quite a lot about how to counteract the Sandman's surveillance attempts and predicts his next moves.

However, time is running out for Jack since the Sandman's next victim is Jack's girlfriend. Jack is terrified that history would repeat itself, that he would be unable to stop the killer in time before he destroys Jack's whole life and hope for the future.

Overall, I thought it's terrifying with what the Sandman was able to do, outwitting the police with simple surveillance methods and creative placements of bombs. This story is shocking and will keep you awake at night, definitely a thriller.

Summary: Mooney ? Deviant Ways
Review: This thriller was decently written but there wasn't much original about it. The story is typical - serial killer terrorizes families, cop with demons of his own becomes obsessed with tracking him down. In other words, this is nothing new. If you're into the whole serial killer thriller genre, you might enjoy this but only if you've exhausted the better novels out there. Otherwise, skip it.
