Summary: At least it was better than Memnoch the Devil...
Review: I'll start with the positive: Anne did a wonderful job researching history and ceremony. I also thought she managed to tie that history to the present fairly well. Sigh. Now with the negative. I'm noticing a trend with her recent works. 1. Her grammar and punctuation are sliding fast. 2. Her characters just aren't "real". In fact, they're boring as hell. 3. The desciptions may be pretty, but some of the scenes just don't add anything to the story. 4. It seems as if Anne is interested only in forcing her personal political or religious views into the mouths of the characters. -- I wish I could recommend it, but I can't. Re-read The Vampire Lestat instead!

Review: The description of ancient persian reglion was interesting but the plot was predictable. Main characters have potential but more refinement is needed to improve the story. My recommendation is to skip it!

Summary: Rice grabs your attention but with her usual long windedness
Review: In her recent 'Servant of the Bones', author Rice once again displays for us an un-natural talent for grabbing the reader's attention from the first few pages and grasping you through mid-novel with all the fervor of her infamous 'Interview With the Vampire'. Unfortunately Servant falls prey to Rice's often shown habit of long winded sentences and repeats. Rice's newest angel, demon, saint, the geni Azriel, brings us through his life story with descriptive tales of ancient Babylon right up to his goings-on in present day New York. But the reader is left with too many questions and annoyances to keep sympathy with the cursed Azriel the way we did with Lestat. How many times must the main character display his sorrow and remebrances of pain over how he was made? Why are we told early on that his story will be short until his present-day experiences but are given lengthy rundowns of his various masters and repeats of how angry he is at his situation? What is it that draws him to the modern-day political terrorist Gregory Belkin and why, after so many experiences in his thousands-year-old life is Azriel drawn to avenge the murder of Belkin's daughter? Rice is short on explanations. But with it's shortcomings, 'Servant' remains a worthwhile read from one of the most respected pop-culture authors of our time. A definite must for the hardcore Rice fan; an entertaining but suttle page turner for others.

Review: I guess that this book is one of the best that i've been readen since annubis gates from tim powers in the fantasy field, you can't loose it if you are a fantasy literature fan.

Summary: Good, could have been better
Review: I am a huge Anne Rice fan. I have read all of the Vampire Cronicals and The Lives of the Mayfair Witches. I realy enjoyed all of the history in this book but it remined me to much of The Queen of the Damned. I belive that some of her newer book such as Lasher and Taltos were not that great but her other novels like The Vampire Lastat, The Witching Hour, and Memnoch more than make up for her recent lapses. If your a Rice fan read it if not read another one.

Review: I loved Anne Rice, but it's getting pretty obvious that she doesn't really care about her writing anymore. I could not even finish this book. It was full of grammitical mistakes and it just made no sense. Don't waste your money.

Review: Anne Rice has created a mezmerizing new character. We get a wonderfully detailed description of all of the fascinating places that Azriel goes to. From the sparkling, ancient city of Babylon, to the crowded, bustling streets of New York. Azriel reflects the eternal strugle of good and evil that every person has.Once a religious Hebrew in Babylon,tricked into becoming the evil Servant of the Bones. He finds himself in modern day Manhatten, free from the bones, masterless. he is on a mission to avenge a young woman's death. He finds himself up against the international terrorist, Gregory Belkin, who is plotting an evil scheme to becom the next messiah. This is an intriguing, thought proviking tale of one spirit's journey through time seeking the reason for his eternally terrifying existance. It is another unendingly interresting, beautifully told tale that only Anne Rice could create. I recomend it to anyone and everyone

Review: Many people have compared this novel to Interview with a Vampire, and there are SOME similarities, but this novel really captivated me. There are so many real world events that I can understand and somewhat relate to. And so many things I want to know more about. I really enjoyed (as always) the mind boggeling (sp?) questions of existence, purpose and "the final days" Thanks Anne for opening my mind...AGAIN!
