Rating: Summary: since reading this novel i have become a servant of Anne Ric Review: I have read all of Anne Rices books. This was the first book that transported me through the pages to a place of sensual unreality, and wonder. What I wondered was, why the book was not longer!I could not shake the feeling that made me call in to work, so I could finish this novel! The best!!!!
Rating: Summary: What was she thinking? What was _I_ thinking??? Review: I've never really gotten into Anne Rice much before. Her only book that I read before was Memnoch, which I actually kind of enjoyed because of the interesting alternate twist it gave to the religious concepts typically believed today. I started reading this book expecting something somewhat exciting and eerie. Right now I'm 3/4 of the way done this book and I can't many books have bored me this badly. The plot seems to crawl along and the characters are not very believeable in the slightest. It's never taken me this long before to read a book and I find myself almost having to force myself to read it on my morning bus ride. Azriel seems to constantly be whining about one thing or another, and the way he flips between loving and hating the other characters in my opinion just doesn't work. I won't make the mistake of bothering with another Anne Rice book after this yawner.
Rating: Summary: I loved it! Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The different sections of the book where windows into history. Ms. Rice's decriptions of the acient cities and times made them come alive. The story line was ingenious. I never knew how it was going to end. What a fresh story. I agree with some of the readers the beginning was a little slow, but it is well worth it. I enjoyed this book much more than Interview with a Vampire...
Rating: Summary: Great imagery, good research, average plot Review: Reminds me of Focault's Pendulum. Not her best, but good enough for a read.
Rating: Summary: I Loved It! Review: Im not going to spend to many words here and please pardon my spelling. But it seems everyone is trashing this book. I just want to say make your own judgment on it. It's not the best written book i've ever read but I found it extremely captevating and I really enjoyed it. I believe its a good enough book that you should read it. You may not like it but there are some wonderful discussions inside this book. Anne Rice has captured me so many times. This book was no different. Give it a shot....
Rating: Summary: Not one of her best Review: I Love Anne Rice as an author. Yet this book was just boring basically. I am at page 173 and it is just now starting to pick up. In the first 30 pages maybe 50. I read the same thing. I was the oldest son of a merchant. our whole family was of merchant and scribes.... etc etc. Something along those lines. I was hard to keep my interest in this book. If you like anne rice i dont recommened buying this but if you want to read it Just go to the library.
Rating: Summary: A let down after Interview with a vampire and Vampire Lestat Review: Before this I had only read Interview and Vampire Lestat - 2 of my favorite all time books. The writing so beautiful and descriptive, the characters so real I was believing in vampires. At times Servant of the Bones had the same passion, but only rarely. Seeing the hardcover on the bargain pile at bookstores was not a good omen. Obviously Rice's heart wasn't in this book as it was with the other 2, and I really struggled to finish.
Rating: Summary: really cool start but then drags on and on and on........... Review: i just finished this book yesterday and am i glad it was over coz at first it excited me, but then .......... it got boring and i have to really exert much effort to finished it. last time i get me an anne rice novel.
Rating: Summary: One of the most beautiful and enchanting books ever written Review: +AH4-WOW! This book is so beautiful. Every Anne Rice book I read is better and better than the last, but Servant of the Bones is by far the best. In Azriel we have a new hero (to replace beloved Lestat), and a mixture of the old world with the new. The story spans ancient Babylon and Greece, and ends up in the modern U.S. It is all about Azriel, a young man condemned to remain a spirit, never finding the ladder to heaven, but redeeming himself nevertheless. The book is more than just a story,+AH4-+AH4- more than magic, it is also a commentary on the current state of the world.... and it is all said in beautiful poetic writing. What can I say, I absolutely loved it+AH4-
Rating: Summary: Could not get into it. Review: This was my first Anne Rice book, and my last. The book was hard to follow and actually somewhat boring. I was half through the book before stumbling upon the plot. Character developement was as weak as the plot.
