Rating: Summary: Better than Stoker's work... Review: Having just read "Dracula" by Mr. Stoker, I was left wanting more of Vlad himself and missing the content that was in the movie, the inner workings of the dark prince himself, but this book delivered. At first, I didn't want to buy this book, but I thought hey... why not, so i bought it and read it, and i couldnt put it down! It's easy to read and full of just the right amount of eroticism and love, as well as tastefully done horror/gore. I am attached to Arkady as well as his sister, they are wonderfully portrayed and very believable indeed! If i could, i would give it four and a half stars!
Rating: Summary: could not put it down Review: I bought this book and could'nt put it down.Written very well,so well that I bought the other two.If you want to read about dracula from another angle this is the book. You can tell she did a lot of authentic research which she added a little twist and emotion to which you almost feel sorry for V. Then you get knocked back into reality that he is very much still evil.I recomend this book the other two and if she writes more books I'll be first in line.
Rating: Summary: Not Bad, but unexciting til the end. Review: I enjoyed this vampire tale, when I'd finished it. But it took a lot of effort to keep going through the first half. The ending is interesting, leaving plenty of scope for the sequels. But the last chapter is somewhat spoiled by the diary entry heading. Onw work gives away what is going to happen.
Rating: Summary: extremely sensual, although too gorey at times Review: I found the creation of an extended family an interesting theme.
At times, the violence and gore described in the book were
rather strong even for a vampire fiction lover but I still found myself completely absorbed in the tale.
Rating: Summary: Umm...Interesting Review: I got this book from those Book Clubs. I am really not into Diary type books but I have never seen this book before and I like to read about Vampires. When I started reading it, I didn't want to put it down. At sometimes I closed my eyes thinking that I was watching a movie. Then I remember I'm not. Right now, I am reading part two. So far, its really good.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely riveting...a classic! Review: I have never enjoyed a book more. The story was dark and sinister and the characters were deep and believable. I've read many vampire novels and not one of them held my intrest like this one. NOT for the faint at heart, but a heart stopper none the less.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, a thrilling tale that makes you skin crawl. Review: I loved this book. It gave me a mysterious feeling of actually being apart of the story I could actually see the details.
Rating: Summary: Something new here! Better than expected! Review: I really thought I'd be bored with a retelling (I thought) of this family Dracula tale... boy was I wrong. Before I knew what hit me I'd finished the book. My only complaint, and the reason I gave it four stars vs. five, was that it was very very short, and I felt the three books should have been one masterpiece of a novel. There really was new vampire material here, very interesting background, and something to sink your teeth into! I've read two of Laurell Hamilton's Anita Blake books, and this book was better. I've also read all the Anne Rice novels and while this book was not on a par with their complexity, it was still very good, new, original, and different.
Rating: Summary: VLAD TEPID Review: I took the advice of Feydraculette and picked this one up...and now three books later, I cannot express how this book and its two follow ups simply captivate you and MAKE you keep reading. This is hands down one of the best stories of Dracula and his origins that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. As I mentioned above this novel is the begining of a trilogy that goes into great detail of Vlad Tsepish (Dracul) and his legacy of decite, torture, and malice througout the ages, particularly to his own lineage. The novel is based on journals kept by the 3 residence at Castle Dracul. Arkady Tsepish, his wife Mary, and Zsuszana Tsepish. Each entry coinsides with the next and follows a strict timeline to keep the reader informed of whats happening at all times from all points of view...with many plot twists and turns to insure no reader will be disappointed! I will spare any more details because I don't want to give away a single suspenseful moment that this sure to be classic novel withholds. But know this, you will truly feel for each character and the trials that they endure, and by the end you will have felt as though you were an eye witness to these accounts. Jeanne has created a masterpiece with vibrant, hauntingly realistic characters and scenes that will stay with you. All this said, GO BUY THIS NOVEL!!!!!!
