Rating: Summary: A must read for Vampire fans everywhere! Review: "Covenant with a Vampire" was an excellent book. The diary format made the book an easy read. Although it is written with 3 people telling the story, the book flows quite nicely. I came to realize at the end, that it's not really the end, but the beginning of an epic story. Jeanne Kalogridis makes you want to read the next two book in the trilogy. If I could, I would give the book 6 stars. ******
Rating: Summary: A Great Read - You'll Like! Review: "Covenant With the Vampire" is the first in the trilogy of "The Diaries of the Family Dracul". The second book is "Children of the Vampire" and the third and final book is "Lord of the Vampires" The reason I mentioned the other novels is because they should be read after reading this one to get the whole and entire story. All are highly engrossing and interesting. How Ms Kalogridis thought up all this is beyond me - but she is obviously talented. Although all the books are wonderful reads - be prepared - there are strange situations in the books - among them are incest and homosexuality. The books don't go into to much "intimate" details on these subjects - and they're not something that carries on into the complete story. So the squeamish should tolerate them just fine. Therefore, I would advise anyone who likes vampire novels to purchase all three of them.
Rating: Summary: Chilling evil Review: A modern version of the Dracula theme, superbly done. This vampire is as evil and cruel as one could imagine. I could not put the book down.
Rating: Summary: So many questions answered Review: A wonderful trilogy that answers so many questions from Stoker's novel. Questions such as who were the 3 females that tormented Harker in Transylvania? and Who is Abraham Van Helsing and why is he so obsessed with the destruction of Dracula? and Why hadn't the peasants destroyed him in all these years? It was a glorious prequel that kept the same style and tone as Stoker's and that deeply enriched the Dracula legend.
Rating: Summary: Closest to Stoker's Intent Yet Review: After suffering through the abomination that was "MINA: The Dracula Story Continues," I was apprehensive at best regarding this series. Yet, Kalogridis has captured some of Stoker's chilling style, while injecting her own voice. Some of the directions she takes (in this and the other two books in the series) aren't what I had hoped for (there's just a tad too much romance, and not enough genuine horror), but it's still an entertaining read, and certainly better than the pablum that Rice has been churning out lately! Her Dracula "Family Tree" is cute, but inaccurate. As a Hungarian myself, we know that my ancestor Andrew Cziraky was a cousin of Vlad the Impaler's!
Rating: Summary: Good work, but be prepared... Review: An interesting story. Gory, very sensual and erotic at times. Be ready for the fiction of Vlad's history--much of it is purely that. Some of you may find the tale of his ancestors too unrealistic or unbelievable (but hey, it's a vampire novel) especially in the second and third books.
Rating: Summary: A brilliant vampire novel for ages 13 and older!!! Review: Covenant With the Vampire is a wonderful book that kept me interested all the way to the end. There is not another book so intriguing as this one!!!!
Rating: Summary: Very detailed, well thought of piece of writing. Review: Excellent book, detailed wonderfully as Arkady went insane. Transition between the diaries kept questions unanswered, which diddnt let me drop the book. Perfect descriptions, I could picture them as if I was there. This book was my 2nd favorite of the trilogy. I am looking forward to more from Mrs.Kalogridis
Rating: Summary: GGREAT BOOK Review: For the vampire fan, this book is just great, I could not stop reading since the fist page, I am a vampire fan, and this lady togheter with Anne Rice, and Fred Saberhagen are the best in this tipe of novel.
Rating: Summary: Remodeling Stocker. Review: Great book that will start off one of the greatest
vampire trilogy of all times. It is a certainty that this
book will remain engraved in your mind as Kalogridis'
stroy blinds you with madness and suspense. It is what
a horror novel should be; sensual, gorey and, most
important of all, SCARY!!! You will not get bored with this one, although, I have to say it again, shivers will be
knocking at your door, invading your body as you go through
this spine-tigling page-turner. Press that "buy" button
right now, it is worth it
