Summary: An entertaining read, but nothing to write home about
Review: First let me say that this is my first experience with the work of Dean Koontz, and the only other one I've read since was "Intensity" (which was far better, in my opinion). I listened to this audiobook during a solo car trip from Washington D.C. to Virginia Beach about four years ago. The plot was certainly interesting, and the suspense was real, but I couldn't help feeling that the characters were to cliched and one-dimensional, and Koontz' use of metaphors was overbearing. Oh, and FYI, Dean Koontz: the last time I heard a black person say "honky" was George Jefferson, circa 1979. Anyway...it was an entertaining story, bogged down by some slightly frustrating flaws. Read "Intensity" instead. Lives up to the title.

Summary: one good read
Review: I loved this book and shared it with family and friends who also loved it. It transported me. I had to put a coat on! Now I just need to remember who borrowed it last so I can get it back to read it again.

Summary: It was a tragedy that kept getting worse and worse.
Review: I didn't like Icebound because it was a tragedy that was so exagerated it seemed that every thing that could go wrong did. The story just got worse and worse for the characters and the natural disasters that made the plot would be almost imposible in real life.

Summary: A Pretty Good "Chiller"
Review: Though not as frightening as other stories by Mr. Koontz, Icebound is suspenseful. It's a good listen especially if you need to while away several hours on a trip.

Summary: fantastic!!!! (=
Review: This is my all time favorite koontz book. I wish he would do more like it. He really does have a talent for mysteries and should focus on more books like Ice Bound (Prison of Ice). Check it out because you will really like it!!!! (=

Summary: The Worlds's Most Advanced Thriller!
Review: Koontz can fell very good about this masterpiece. It has everything: exploding action, scary icetraps, clever solutions and thrilling underwater chasings. The only thing I don't like is that it's a little slow start but when it has started it goes as fast as lightning.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A nice change for Koontz
Review: Different from other Dean Koontz books which is a nice change, but the ending was predictable. Still, Icebound is the only book I've ever finished in one day.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A true thriller!
Review: After a slow start, the action just gets more pulse-pounding as the story progresses. The style of writing is in a similar vein to early Clive Cussler and, of course, Alistair MacLean, who I used to read when I was a young teenager. As far as the plot goes, the sheer terror of being trapped on a floating iceberg in sub-zero temperatures literally atop a ticking timebomb is well portrayed. The character studies are not as intricate as in, say, Koontz`s `Strangers`, but they are done so well as not to interfere with the suspense. In a thriller of this nature, this is fine. The psychotic killer subplot is also well put forward. All in all, if you like your action fast-paced and prose simple, this is one for you!
