Summary: Unputdownable
Review: The third book in the series but based on the second game. This one was so good that I read it in one night. It follows Claire Redfield the sister of Chris from the first book, and Leon a brand new character. Claire is in Raccoon City looking for her brother Chris when she is attacked by Zombies and saved by Leon who was supposed to start as a cop in the city. Unfortunatly they are split up and the book follows their different adventures.
Leon comes across a mystirious woman who claims to be looking for her boyfriend. Claire discouvers a small girl called Sherry Birkin who's father is a scientist for the Umbrella corperation.
It all leads to an explosive race against time to escape the Umbrella Facility and get away from two massive monsters.

Summary: Good but huge flaw.
Review: Okay, this book was great, but for one thing I find i often get lost as to where the characters are, or what the setting is, though I haven't played the video game, I shouldn't have to. Secondly *****SPOILER***** When Leon blows up the crocodile and blood and stuff splatters on him, he doesn't get infected regardless of the open wound... what gives? At least mention the risk...

Review: This book is a great one at that. I had a good time reading it and it was more detailed than the game as it's explains more about how Raccoon has been completely destroyed by william birkin's creation. It also inroduced new character's to the series such as Leon kennedy, Clarie redfield. This was an intresting book to read and i have plan's to read it again,

Summary: Raccoon City falls to the monsters of the T-Virus, and more.
Review: Of the three Resident Evil books I have read so far, City of the Dead is the best. For those unfamiliar with the game plot, it's a multi-character piece. The main focus more or less divided between Claire Redfield, searching for her brother Chris, he of the recently fallen S.T.A.R.S. Unit, and Leon Kennedy, a new member of the Raccoon Police Department who shows up to his first day on the job to a city overrun with flesh-eating zombies, skinless dogs, and snake tongued monsters. There are several supporting characters that add a mixture of mystery and motivation to the heart pounding action, which S.D. Perry shades with just enough background detail to let the novelization read well as a story. Having not played the game, I cannot rate this entry in the series on anything more than how much fun it was to read (this isn't literature after all, just escapism) and on that level it leaves me eager to dig into the next one. So, yeah, I recommend it, but only for fans of the Resident Evil universe.

Summary: WOW, an incredible thriller that is better than the game
Review: This is the third book in S.D. Perry's novelizations of the Resident Evil video games. This book is right up there with the first in the series, and much much better than the second in the series. Perry does a great job of making you scared as if you are in an abandoned city with the dead walking around trying to kill you. This a very fun, freaky book to read. If you loved the games by Capcom, then you will love these books just as much.

Summary: A must read for fans of the series, new and old alike.
Review: ... I had heard from a freind about the Resident Evil books, ...I picked up "The City of the Dead" .... The way Stephani Danelle Perry brings the haunting word of Resident Evil from game discs to book pages is asounding. Once I picked the book up, I couldn't stop reading it. ... I JUST COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN. Every chapter ends with you wanting to continue on to the next one. It's a good thing I picked up the RE: Nemesis book in the same trip, so that I can continue the RE saga in printed form.

I still do intend to play the games eventually, be it on another system, or when they drop the prices (something that's bound to happen), but until then, this is definately the next best thing. Better, in some ways, because I don't have to imagine it looking like 6 year old Playstation graphics. So, while playing the game is the the most authentic expirience, you can't go wrong with the book. Wether you are a Gamecube only-owner looking for a cheap alternative to the over-priced ports, or a die hard fan who has beaten every game multiple times, read online fan fictions, or even sat through that awful as Cerebus ...excuse for a movie adaptation, these books are must reads.

Summary: 3 stars- ***
Review: The original (UMBRELLA CONSPIRACY) was the beginning of the sometimes sterile/sometimes fun RE series, and it established that well in the first book, earning only 2 and 1/2 stars from moi. Caliban Cove was all original and a considerable improvement, earning 3 and 1/2 stars. CITY OF THE DEAD, based on RESIDENT EVIL 2, settles somewhere in the middle. It returns to novel-of-game-mode, albeit she lets herself stray from game's events more than she did w/ UMBRELLA CONSPIRACY. At 350-some pages, its the bulkiest book of the series, but It certainly felt like a lot of the book was more mindless monster shooting and "thought-shoving" that was rampant in the first two books. There are some interesting creatures here, but they are much less original (you might want to call in Sigorney Weaver on this one. . . .) The characters display Perry's overall shallowness in writing. The good guys are too good. The bad guys are too bad. Perry tried to get us in the head of the bad guys in UMBRELLA and COVE, but Ada Wong and Chief Irons are the first characters we can TRY to sympathize with. I've always considered the bad guys much more facinating than Boy-Scout Do-gooders like Leon Kennedy. Again, atmosphere and mood are sacrificed for straight-forward descriptions and trivial details. Perry obviously slows down during the final pages to create a somber and subdued mood to match the exhaustion of the heroes after their ordeal. Not bad, but I'd better not hear anyone say that THIS is the best book they have ever read again.

Summary: This novel rocks
Review: If you like the game you'll love the novel, it gives an itersting point of veiw for many of the games main characters and adds to the feel of resident evil 2's story :)
