Rating: Summary: Perfection Review: S.D. Perry is a genius. This book was very well written. It must have been hard to do because of all the various path in the game. Everything is well discribed and you see the world throught the eyes of Jill, Carlos, and Nicolie. The only thing that would have made it better would be to have Micheil's view point, but you can't have it all.
Rating: Summary: Nemesis and Other Review: I dont have a lot to say , but this was the best in the series so far. It had a great storyline and it mixed great suspense with a very vivid and detailed dialogue. Also, I would like to add if anyone including S.D. Perry has any information on another or if there is a realese date for the next installment in the series which should be Resident Evil : Code Veronica please email me at Riverrun55@aol.com. I hope Perry continues to write and finish the Resident Evil series. I,ve read all the bookes beat every game and am a diehard fan. Perry's books are the best. She should finish the series.
Rating: Summary: Great Novel Review: What I like about what S.D. Perry is doing with the Resident Evil series is she is taking a great game and making the kind of cliche and simple plotline a lot better. I hate it when novels/games don't have a good, twisted and complex plot. It makes me mad. I love nothing more than having a mix between complex, realistic characters, a great plot with intricate subplots, lots of suspense and horror/action to boot. I hate it when all people want is action. It's more suspensful if you actually know, feel and care about the character you are reading about. I am also dissapointed with the Resident Evil Movie. It is completely different from the REAL Resident Evil plotline. What this director did was take a great game/book series and transformed it into a stupid, cliche and horrible sounding movie that does not deserve to bear the Resident Evil name. If he wants to make a stupid movie about a super-computer trying to take over the world with an army of zombies, that's fine. Just don't put the Resident Evil name on it, ruin the outlook of the game series and spoil the legacy and any chances of a successful true Resident Evil film.
Rating: Summary: Nemesis Review: An adaptation of Resident Evil 3, this is Perry's most impressive instalment in her series. Guided by the game's storyline, the narrative speeds along. The game's various environments lend a scale and 'production value' that her own novels lack. Whereas both Underworld and Caliban Cove before it can be visualised as movies with cheap sets, Nemesis and its two game-inspired predecessors are definitely big-budget. Perry's additions to the material are excellent - Jill's loneliness at the beginning, when we learn of her struggle to save lives before the start of the story, and her gradual attraction to Carlos later are handled well. Nicholai's story stands out most, though, and Perry's rendition, fleshing out the slight material we get in the game, is better than any other piece of characterisation in her series. Perry shines as a writer when she has someone else's story to work with, and of her three Resident Evil game adaptations, this is her best. As a villain, Nicholai is far more interesting that the bland ones she created for both of her own instalments. Instead of spending the story holed-up in safety, sending creatures after the heroes, Nicholai (like Annette Birkin and Albert Wesker before him) are running the same risks. The book over-writes some of the continuity of the previous ones, and Perry apologises for this at the start. This was forced on her by the game she is adapting. She had Brad Vickers flee the city after the first book, but he has to be here now as he is featured in the game. Jill was going out to meet Chris and Barry when she briefly appeared at the start of the second book, but while her predicament (fleeing the city) is still the same, Chris now has to be in Europe. Never mind: the game Resident Evil 3 itself is not perfect in its continuity. SD Perry's Nemesis is an enjoyable and fast-paced read, and there are some good little touches to surprise anyone expecting a cheap cash-in. I did wonder though, at Perry's description of Jill's outfit in the game: 'dressed for movability' in a tight mini-skirt? I don't think so...
Rating: Summary: Repentance and Redemption Review: I am an avid fan of Steve Perry and am glad to see his daughter Stephani following in his footsteps. In her early books she sort of deviated from the ever evolving (and quite twisted) Resident Evil storyline. This was inevitable as she had no idea how Capcom would change the story. She has dropped in an apology of sorts and has more than redeemed herself with the latest installment in the series. Her somewhat startling knowledge of weapons was refreshing to a celebrated gun-nut like myself and her intelligence comes out in her writing. This is supposed to be a review but I find myself writing in Perry's defense, and that just shows how much I have come to enjoy her writing.
Rating: Summary: EvilRomero Review: I'm a huge fan of Resident Evil, George Romero and Lucio Fulci and now SD Perry. After reading the first in the series and then "Umbrella Conspiracy" I expected a book that drew it's inspiration directly from the game it followed. Well it did infact follow the game but Perry's writing on this one is incredible. I've never been so enamored by the series as I was with this outing. My favorite character was Nicholai who I wished had a book to himself because he is by far Perry's pet project in this novel. He is a dynamic character who could be related to but at the same time hated. Easily the best in the series.
Rating: Summary: Nemesis (Resident Evil #5) by S.D. Perry Review: This is a great edition in the Resident Evil series. The book really goes into detail on Jill Valentine's adventure at the height of the T-Virus outbreak in Racoon City. An added bonus is the background given on supporting cast members, Carlos and Nicolai. I would definitely recommend this to any fan of the Resident Evil storyline.
Rating: Summary: Very cool, but contradicting Review: This was a very good book that explained many things that the game didn't. The overall story was very good but it didn't give you the fear of the Nemesis that the game definitely did. One more thing, at the beginning of City Of The Dead(Book 3) Jill leaves Raccoon City with Chris. She LEAVES! Then why is she stil in Raccoon at the beginning of Nemesis the book? Oh well, it doesnt ruin the book at all, but it distracted me while I read it. Or maybe I'm not understanding something, which if you do please email me at bill200je@aol.com. Despite all that crap, the book is still great. Another good job.
Rating: Summary: Never was good at the game Review: This book really changed my feelings on resident evil at first the game was boring because I couldn't figure out where to go or what to do. When I found this book on a shelf at Barnes and Noble I gave it a chance Read it and I loved it And I can't belive A women Wrote This Mrs.Perry does the best job I've ever seen
Rating: Summary: Nice, But Suspicious... Review: I loved all 5 of Perrys 5 books but i thought about 1 thing, why dont the 'undead' feed on each other like in the game? That question hung over me the entire suspenseful read of Resident Evil: Nemisis.
