Rating: Summary: Cutting edge terror; I thought I was next Review: I read at night with the lights on as I would other horror books, but this was different. It was so real. There's something about what waits in the shadows which is terribly frightening. All I can say about this book is I can't wait for the movie. Keep the good books coming.
Rating: Summary: this book kicked some major you know what Review: this was the first and probably the best dean koontz book i have read so far. picked it up at a bazaar back home in ghana and i got hooked onto dean. have read over 12 of his books since i got here if you loved phantoms, watchers and midnight are must read as well...in addition to crichton's "sphere", phantoms must be the best book out there...movie sucked though...lends credence to the fact that movies very rarely represent the books on which they are based.
Rating: Summary: one of the few novels that truly scared me Review: I watched a truly dreadful movie called phantoms. The movies' execution was pure garbage, but the idea behind histories mass disappearences intrigued me so I bought the book. Was I ever surprised. Real characters in a real scary situation. I could not put the book down and several times had to look over my shoulder. Very reminicent of Kings " It" and John Carpenters The Thing...which must have inspired Koonts. A must read.
Rating: Summary: The first and best (of many) Koontz book I've read! Review: From the first page to the end this was definately the best of his books I've read.. so far. I'm into a "Koontz marathon" right now, just bought 5 other Koontz books. If you've never read a Dean Koontz book before this is the best one to start with.
Rating: Summary: Pretty much a waste of time Review: The first 40 pages of this book were great. I had to get up and lock my door and turn on all the lights. That is the only reason I give the book 2 stars. It could have kept up the scary and intense pace but after the first 40 pages it was executed so poorly. I hope i have the energy to try one more Koontz book. This was my first one, and it gave me a very bad impression. Anyone have any suggestions for my next try? Feel free to email me.
Rating: Summary: Dean Koontz's PHANTOMS Review: Dean Koontz's Phantoms is by far the greatest novel ever written. I would give it 10 stars if I could. The story, suspense, characters, and everything else in this great novel is EXCELLENT, beyond genius, and deeply intelligent. I recommend this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: This was a page turner i could'nt put down. Review: This was,i think, one of dean koontz best novels. he really described snowfield well. the scary parts were written so well, i couldnt sleep for weeks. i started reading the first chapter because i was bored, and i did'nt stop until i finished.
Rating: Summary: not good Review: I am a Peter O'Toole fan, so in preparation for seeing his latest movie PHANTOMS from this book, I read the book before seeing the movie. I'm glad I read the book first, because that way I knew in advance that the movie would probably be lousy, too. And it was lousy. The only good things in it were Peter O'Toole and Rose McGowan. PHANTOMS is the type book that should give hope to aspiring untalented horror writers everywhere that they too can become best selling novelists. The only thing preventing me from giving the book one star is that the writing itself was actually pretty good. But the writing told an inept tale.
Rating: Summary: this book kicked! Review: This was my all time favorite book so far, even though i am only fifteen years old. I just started to read the author, Dean Koontz's books, and i am very impressed and plan to read all of his other works. theresa rose
Rating: Summary: Read a horror movie! Review: This is one of the best book I've ever read. It captures you from the first page and then never lets you free. It's like reading a really good horror movie. You get scared. Read it!
