Rating: Summary: FAVORITE KOONTZ BOOK! Review: This was the first book I read by Dean Koontz. My friend read this book for a book report and it sounded so interesting that I asked her if I could borrow it. I was really impressed by Koontz's writing. I have to say, this is my favorite book and I now own a copy of it :) Door To December is just perfect! I just couldn't put it down. I finished the book around 4 in the morning with a flashlight. It's just the kind of book I love. Mysterious, romantic, thrilling, and scary. GET IT! I know you'll love it!!!
Rating: Summary: GREAT STORY BUT PREDICTABLE END Review: I have been reading Koontz for years. After a brief time of not picking up any of his books, I found myself reading a copy of The Door to December. The story is great. It is a real adventure into the possibilites which lie in the minds of us all. The characters worked well together and the plot flowed nicely. The only problem I found with this book was that I predicted the end withing the first 50 pages and there was never a point in which I second guessed my initial feelings. I still gave the book 4 stars because although I felt I knew how it would end, it was still an exciting, hold on to your seats, E-Ticket ride. I would reccomend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Dark Paths Review: This book takes you into the darkest recesses of the human mind. It takes you to the depths of a mother's love and a father's obsession with science and psychiatry. This is the first novel I ever read by Koontz and by far one of his best novels ever. If you love Koontz, you'll adore this book, even if you've never read him, if you enjoy the strange and obscure this is the book for you....Read and enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Classic suspense with an unexpected ending! Review: I must say the ending of this book really surprised me. The person who I thought was behind it all was offed so I had to go back to square one, and then my new suspect was offed, and the ending totally freaked me out! Aside from the ending, the rest of the book was really nice to read. Later in the book, an 'It' comes, and is really freaky. This is also an emotionally entertaining novel as well. After learning what all young Melanie had to endure, and then watching her mother learning what happened stirs up all these negative emotions against the baddies :)
Rating: Summary: Thrilling. Review: I borrowed this book from my father, who told me it was worth reading. I have to admit he was right, I think this is the fastest I have ever read a book, I could'nt put it down. From the time the book begins it keeps the reader enthralled. It delves into the world of psychology and into the mind and what the subconcious mind might be capable of in extreme circumstances. This is the story of a child who is tortured and psychologically traumatised for six years, by the hands of someone she trusted and loved, and how she gets her revenge. This is a story of murder and suspence, it flows literally from one frightening murder to another, which keeps the detective (who takes personal charge of the case) stumped. It may be a little bit predictable for those who are very open minded, but even at that it is a highly enjoyable read and I can't find any way to fault this excellent book.
Rating: Summary: The Door to December Review: Kept me on the edge of my seat. Didn't want to put it down. I said to myself this stuff could happen. This made it more intense.
Rating: Summary: Door to December Review: It's a really, really exciting book! Already from the first page you get caught in his "web" of brilliant ways to tell his story. I have only read about 5 of his books, but already since I finished the second book, I just wanted to read more. The door to December is a really "catching" book, especially for people with children of their own! Greetings from Karina Thomsen.
Rating: Summary: DEAN KOONTZ ROX! Review: When Little Melanie was three, she was kidnapped by her terrible father and taken away from her mother. When one day, she was found wandering the L.A. streets naked with blank eyes. Not knowing that her father had been murdered, the police took her to the hospital and called her mother. Her mother, Laura, was amazed that her daughter was still alive after being away from her for six long years. But, when Laura tried to talk to or hug Little Melanie, she got no response. What happened to the old Little Melanie? What had her father done to her for the past six years? It takes you step by step into the story of her father doing daily, weekly, even MONTHLY experiments on her. My favorite character in the book is Laura. I think she took the whole situation very well. She also relates to me, because she has blonde hair, blue eyes and she's tall. Laura goes through a very tough struggle to get her old Little Melanie back. Koontz is an awesome author! He explains everything in detail and I love that! Another thing I like about his writing is that he doesn't confuse me. Most books I read I get confused (especially mysteries!) This one, I don't! As I read this book I noticed that every event happened one after the other to keep my attention. Well, it definitely kept my eyes on the book! Once you pick this book up, you will not want to put it down. This is such a wonderful book! I recommend it to anybody that loves MYSTERIES!
Rating: Summary: the door to december (have to read very good book) Review: This book is real good if you like sitting on the edge of your seat this book will do just that. you won't want to put it down intill you finsih it. It's that good.
Rating: Summary: The Door To December Review: The Door To December by Dean Koontz is a wonderful and exciting book because it has a good story line, used challenging vocabulary, and had many gruesome murders. Throughout the entire book, it seemed like the killer was either the FBI or someone who worked with Dylan. In the book, many challenging words were used such as: preliminary, pathologist, autism, opaque, occult, pompous, condescending, totalitarian, and electroencephalograph. One example of a time that talked about a gruesome murder was when Dan said "Every rib broken and rebroken. Breastplate smashed like a china plate." The story also used metaphors and similies. This book was amazing because there was good transitions from each chapter to the next and it kept me interested the entire time.
