Summary: Another Great Book By a The Great Author
Review: This was yet another great book by Lumley. I have yet to read Invaders and am disappointed that this series may be the last series in Lumley's Necroscope series. I have been reading Lumley's books for about seven or eight years now. Which have included: Psychomech series, Necroscope series, Vampire world series, Lost Years series, Dreamland series, House of Doors series, and the short story collection book: Fruiting Bodies and Other Fungi. I am not bragging but am giving an idea of what I think about Lumley. I've enjoyed all his books including Invaders. Lumley has such an imagination and what seems like an endless supply of information which when put together make a his story seem real. In Invaders, Lumley creates a new ghastly trio of vampire masters (or Whampiri). The magnificent Molinari the Mind, the oh so mesmerizing Lady Vavara, and the mysterious Schwart. Feared and loathed by their own kind on the vampire world Sunside/Starside they now escaped their own world to bring havoc on ours. Only the combined powers of E-branch and the new necroscope Jake Cutter can stop them. If you are a Necroscope maniac I highly recommend this book to add to your collection.

Summary: the best horror book I've read in a long time
Review: This book is awsome, I first picked it up at a book store just to see what it was like. I was so used to the stephen king books I was looking for something new and did I find something. This book was unbelievable, I thought that book was good when I was reading it, but the ending is the best part of the whole book. I haven't read a book like this in so long, frankly I was very relieved.

Summary: Hurrah! Another Necroscope book!
Review: I was delighted to read Lumley's newest addition to the fantasy/horror Necroscope world started with Harry Keogh! I was initially suspicious of a Necroscope book without Harry but Jake and both the new and old characters were intriguing. Having read all of Lumley's books, I always liked the original Necroscope books for their depth and detail. . .something I found lacking somewhat in Necroscope: Invaders. . .like not fully fleshed out (no pun intended). However, I did just order the next in the series because no true Necroscope Lumley fan can ever resist that next book!

Summary: Necroscope
Review: I took my children to library one Saturday and while they were looking for something that piqued their interest, I was half looking at the paperbacks. I really did not need to check anything out for myself because I have about a dozen books at home waiting for me. I saw the book "Necroscope: The Lost Years" and it caught my interest. When I realized that this book was not the first in Lumley's series, I tried to find it but the library did not have it. I found the first one at a book store and enjoyed it immensely. I am going to order the second book online and hope to get it before I start school. If the second one is as good as the first book, I do not need the distraction from my studies.

Summary: Lumley Return's To Excite The Great Majority!
Review: Brian Lumley has brought us a new Necroscope for a New Century!

Fans of his all know about Harry Keogh and the amazing, but terrible powers he had. Not to mention how exciting his adventures were.

Now Lumley is revisiting the Wamphyri threat with both new and old characters. Invaders is book one in his new three book trilogy.

The novel has some excellent action in it and the standard amazing Lumley creations. The only problem I saw in it is that it felt very incomplete (obviously since this is a trilogy I suppose), but it would have been nice if this could have stood more on it own other than it did. I came away with a feeling that I had only read a 'set-up' novel for the books to come.

Still, it's Lumley! It's Necroscope! It's here!

Summary: I would have put 0 stars but that's not an option.
Review: I have read good books, and this is NOT one of them. Granted the people who have reviewed this book before thought it was great, but give me Ann Rice, Nancy A. Collins (Sunglasses after Dark), Dean Koontz, or Beth Scott & Michael Norman (Haunted Heartland) any day. The book was sooooooo boring it was such a stuggle to read it, I normally take 1 or 2 days to read a book, this was a forcing week and a half.

Summary: DESERVING ALL FIVE STARS AND MORE/NECROSCPOPE
Review: This is the first book I've rated five stars in a long while. From start to finish, it is captivating and actually pulls you into the war going on, the ESPionage war. Our Protaganist(Boris) starts off pretty bad and just gets more evil and more murderous as he "develops". Harry Keough just keeps growing more courageous and determined to do whats right for his country, himself and his unusual "friends". The excitement never ends and I can't wait to get Necroscope 2, I hope it is as good as this first one was. I Highly recommend this book. Although definately unique in his style, there is a completeness about it that I've seen in Stephen King and Clive Barker, and Ann Rice.

Summary: Necroscope/"You Vant to Read This Book"
Review: Necroscope was great. I won't five star many books, but this certainly deserves it. Interesting from page one, I couldn't put it down. You get totally involved with all the characters, Harry is so wonderfully human, and yet...not. He bears his "talent" with such courage and humility. Boris Dragosani is interesting, even as he grows ever more evil and murderous. The whole ESP thing is exceptionally described and I wouldn't doubt if there was such organizations in the ESPionage field. The evil is terrifying and the forces of good are sometimes frightening as well. Mr. Lumley gives great depth to his characters and plot. The Vampire twist in this book is refreshingly unique. A mix of old ideas and new, create a formidable force in Thibor Frerenczy, "our" vampire. Brian Lumley is just as good as Stephen King or Clive Barker and just as unique. You really should give this book a chance, especially if you like science fiction and horror. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. ENJOY!

Summary: Looking for horror originality? .. This is THE book.
Review: If you enjoy horror, sci-fi and drama, buckle up because this book transcends them all. It's often surprising to me that Anne Rice's INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE series has received more fanfare than this novel. I enjoyed Rice's vampires tales as well, especially the faster paced LESTAT, i just find Brian Lumley's work richer in plot developement and suspense. Where Rice tends to focus more on character development and the romance of the era, NECROSCOPE's focus is on a tight plot, intelligent fantasy and gritty details. This is not to say that Lumley's characters are shallow, they are well developed but written for the purpose of telling a story. Rice tends to treat her characters as untouchable, in the long term, typically, nothing bad ever happens to them. I refer to this as the 'soap opera' effect or the return of JR. I realize that it's hard to keep a money machine rolling if you kill off a main character but in his early novels Lumley is fearless when it comes to sacrificing a character for the betterment of the story. i should also say at this point that this opinion is not a spoiler with regards to NECROSCOPE. I'm speaking more to Lumley's general attitude towards writing than NECROSCOPE's plot per se. In Lumley's much later work, he too falls victim to the 'soap opera effect' and since that point the quality of his novels have faded.

Getting back on track NECROSCOPE is the tale of Harry Koegh, a boy born with the ability to talk to the dead. the dead take favor with Koegh as they enjoy his gentle nature and sincere innocence. Koegh calls upon the dead from time to time to assist him. As he grows older he joins a government agency and uses his talent for the enrichment of society. The story does not kick into high gear until Keogh becomes aware of and pursues a character named Dragosani. Dragosani has similar powers to Koegh, however he must violate the dead in order to shear information from them.

This story has action, drama, suspense, and a fantastic summation. NECROSCOPE can be graphic at times, if that is not a detriment to you as a reader, then by all means, buy it, read it, enjoy it.

Summary: Invaders
Review: I have never read the Necroscope series. But I picked up Invaders, and after a slow start to read it, I was hooked! Brian Lumley has brought vampires back to what they were meant to be. Scary!
