Summary: Spiritual Bliss
Review: Barker is unsurpassed in creating entire worlds so vast in scope that you leave your own when entering the realms (or in this case the dominions).
Imajica is a superlative mix of the spiritual, the fantastic, the romantic, and the stark nakedness of a soul's journey through space and time.
Thus far I have read Imajica, The Great and Secret Show, Everville, Galilee, The Books of Blood, and Sacrament and he has only ever exceeded my expectations.

Summary: Not giving up on clive, but this book wasn't for me
Review: In short, I feel this book was an epic for epic's sake. Even though it had some interesting visuals and some very complex characters, I thought the story was useless. I never really felt the "the big threat" of a "unreconciled dominions". And with-out a doubt the reconciliation was the weekest of endings. it was my first read by him and i understand that authors can't please everyone all of the time. I bought Damnation game ,Great and Secret Show and Everville. i truely hope these three books are much better...

Summary: Imajica, the slightly possible.
Review: I love a novel that leaves nothing out. I love a novel that, although fantastical, tickles your imagination with the possibility of truth hidden within fiction. Clive Barker did all of that and much more with Imajica. You feel Pie's pain, and revel in the self re-discovery or awakening of our favorite Maestro! Many a sleepless night do I owe to this wonderful book. If you value sleep, don't pick this up. I, for one, could never put it down.

Summary: Epicly great book but...
Review: Most of all of the other reviews on this book were right, the book will grab you and not let go. The only thing that bugged me about it was the ending. I hated it. It seemed like Mr. Barker just speed cobbled everything together after the reconciliation and said "Here its done". It left me very unsatisfied and wanting more(Or perhaps thats a good thing?). I could have easily went another 500 pages or so :) Other then the ending Id say its one of the Top 3 greatest books ive ever read.

Summary: Incredible...
Review: I read this book about a year ago now and I have recommended it to everyone I know, especially my woman friends. This book turns the patriarchal nature of religion on its ear. I was also amazed that a book so empowering to women could be written by a man. I have the 2 volume set of this story and I read it in 2 and a half weeks - only because of the week delay in the second part shipping (I should have used Amazon instead). At the end of the second book I actually felt a sense of loss (withdrawls if you will) as I had looked forward to my nightly dose of the Imajica, the Mystif, Gentle, and co.

Summary: Co-existing in harmony
Review: This is the first work of Sci-Fi/Fantasy that I have ever truely Loved. It may have taken over 1,000 pages, but Imajica (all five dominions of it) is a world as complete and vibrant as the one that we live in, perhaps even more-so.

Although this is first and foremost a Fantasy novel, Clive Barker also proves that he has profound insight into the conflicts and connections between the sexes as well as into our universal need for a god (or goddess) that we can understand and relate to. The book is wonderful in terms of plot, scope, and descriptions, but what really kept me coming back were these deeper struggles and the tie Barker was able to forge between myself and these characters. Without the characters the book would have been dry philosophy. Without the deeper statements of meaning the characters would have lacked depth and purpose. Barker provides a marriage in which both coexist in harmony.

Summary: Like nothing I've ever read before
Review: I had never read anything by Cliver Barker and usually am not a fan of horror or fantasy, but I picked up Imajica on a whim, for a change of pace. I just finished reading it-an endeavor that has taken me about 2 years all together, not because it's a slow read, but because I have a short attention span. Because I'm an editor of academic books by day, my "fun reading" tends to be much less involved. Imajica, however, requires some serious attention, a great deal of imagination, and some brain retention space.

It's over 1000 pages long, but the story, settings, and characters make you want to keep reading. I found it frustrating at times because when you think you're getting to a climax scene, or a point of intense action, the plot twists again onto a different path. HOWEVER, despite the number of times I put this book down, I always returned. I even found myself driving home from work, after not reading the book for a couple months, and thinking "wonder what ever happened with Gentle and Judith?" That's the greatest endorsement I can give any book, and I've recommended it to many friends for that reason: It haunted me, and I had to finish. I'm so glad that I did, and I will probably read Imajica again someday. There are so many wonderful pieces to this work, I'm sure you could read it 200 times and still pick up new things each time. I would also like to meet Clive Barker someday, just to talk to a person whose mind creates like this.

Summary: The Greatest Story Ever Told
Review: I cannot put it any plainer than that. Imajica is magical. In no other story do you meet god, actually visualize him, you do here in the 1st dominion. And boy is he something to behold!

There is no moment in this book where you would even think to put it down. It is that powerful. If you are Hindu Christian, Muslim, or any other religion of this world; this book will make you think, "Who is out there?", "What is running the world?", "Why am I here?". Imajica gives you a very insightful version of the truth. And naturally, who really wants to know the truth? The truth is not always pretty, or orderly. Mr. Barker makes sure you understand this.

This is the greatest story ever told.

Summary: Clive's most epic novel
Review: I have read all of Clive Barker's books and none of them is more profound than Imajica. This mystical epic touches on every human emotion. The plot is original, complex, and never boring. There is a love story one minute and a gross description of a corpse the next. Barker does not box himself into a rigid conception of what kind of a writer he is. I loved the book and would recommed it to anyone who is willing to take on such a lengthy novel. (It's over 800 pages).

Summary: The best book I have ever read
Review: This by far is the best book I have ever read. My friends had read it and praised it and told me I had to read it. When I hear things like that I am usually let down, but not with this. You can not help but fall in love with John Furie Zacharias otherwise know as Gentle from the first page. This book has such an incredible blend of characters and the character development is superb. I have read the book 4 times and every time recognize new connections that I had missed before. This is a great read.
