Summary: One of the best books I have read!!!!!
Review: I have never been much into fantasy books, but this one was awesome. The length had me worried at first, like I would never finish it, but I could not put it down. The first time I read it, it was great, and it only got better the second time around. Clive Barker did a wonderful job on this book. He has to have one of the greatest imaginations I have ever seen. To be able to think up the things he has, that takes talent. Way to go Mr. Barker!!

Summary: An unparallel spiritual voyage
Review: Barker takes his readers through a journey with a sensual, bitter-sweet, unwilling, christ figure as a guide. The main character, Gentle, pulls the reader into the book and does not let go even after the last page is read. His journey through the known and unknown realms, as well as his journey inside himself, haunts with images of the classic hero cycle. The hardest part of Gentle's journey seems to be in dealing with himself, and his own past, which echos of connections with "Heart of Darkness". This book does have it's share of violence, but none of which does not seem neccessary for the story line. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys dark story lines that transcend the "Scary".

The best book Barker has written.

Summary: Not worth the time or effort expended to complete the book
Review: A friend of mine is a HUGE Barker fan, and he is the one who recomended this book to me. I only bought it to get him to read another book I knew he would like.
I was really excited the day the book arrived and I began reading instantly. After the first hour or so the plot had not really advanced.
The main characters were worrying about sex in general and killing people. The author seems totally obsessed with sex, it was everywhere in the novel.
He makes childish and silly attempts at deeper meanings and dark sub-plots. In the end Imajica is a story about the confict between the sexes.
It has a truckload of other crap tossed in so that it might be called a fantasy book but it doesn`t measure up even to simple fantasy books.
In the end Imajica is a realistic fiction book that is far too long winded and uninteresting to carry and plot whatsoever.
This book will be sitting in the corner of my bookshelf gathering dust until I have another boring business trip and I need something to put to sleep on the plane.

Summary: Must Read!
Review: This was probably the best book I have ever read. I almost wish I had never read it, because it is so hard to be satisfied with other books of its kind. Only titles that come close is the Dark Tower series by King.

Summary: The best literary work of the centuary!
Review: Clive Barkers Imajica excelled all of my expectations, encompassing much of western and eastern culture and beliefs. This wonderful retelling of Paradise Lost and the fall is an achievement that would cause Milton to give applause. The story revolves around the central themes of loss and the quest to regain that which has been lost. Much like Musashis Book of Five Rings the story and its characters are in a constant state of change and through that existing. This book can be seen in so many lights it makes a painting by Dali look small and oblique by comparisson. Imajica can definitely be seen in an infinite number of ways, and a book I will come back to again and again, only to find more than when I read it last. A work of litterature not to be missed by the incomprable Clive Barker.

Summary: A wonderful total mind-engulfing experience.
Review: What can I say that you haven't already learned from the other reviews of this novel? Well, I won't be one to tell you the whole plot. That mystery should be saved for Mr. Barker's telling. What I Can say is this. I have read a numerous amount of Mr. Barker's novels. Of all of his that I've read and all the books that I've ever read, this one ranks right up there with Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. Although this novel is quite lenghty and took me many months to complete, I feel that my view of society and religion has been unveiled. My opinion? Read it. Read the full version, not the separated work. It'll make you question your own existence and the world we live in.

Summary: A GREAT WAY TO START READING CLIVE BARKER
Review: This is the book that introduced me to Clive Barker. I happened to purchase it from a sale rack at a local book store some time back as its summary interested me. At that time I did not realize that this was the man who did Hellraiser which I had also not seen. I do not classify this writting as horror, to me it was pure fantasy and I took several months to absorb it as I sat in my yard reading a little at a time. It seemed so full of visual stimulus that I had to stop and soak up over a few days what I had read and put it into an understanding of where the story was taking me. What could be a more perfect setting than trying to reconsile paralel planes and the forces opposing it. Once I mastered this novel I was hooked! I went on to read five more of his books and see all the movies made from his writing.

Summary: Where does the creative horror ends for Barker?
Review: I started reading Barker's books approximately two years ago (Books of Blood series) and have bought everybook since then. Imajica is by far one of the best. Its plot is superb. For the religious or those who are spiritual it can be offensive or even challenging to the possibitlities that really exists in this world as we know it. Each character can be identified with. From Gentle with his confusion as to who he really is to the mystiff to which a person sees the beauty in someone differently than others. This book is tastefully done - to the horror enthusiast, of course. Even the sex scenes makes one wonder what it would be like if such acts were possible or what one must do to achieve such pleasures. Barker, once again, have not disappointed his fans.

Summary: Incredible imagination!
Review: Great stuff by Clive Barker. His vision (and that is the only appropriate word for it) of the Imajica is brilliant and detailed. However, less experienced readers might get a little bogged down at the start. There are parts where the storyline slows down, but once Gentle discovers who he really is, the story really takes off. Gentle's blocking of his own pneuma is the best scene in the book (I had to grab my trusty collins dictionary to find out what the hell a pneuma is). However, Barker's sex scenes are just a little sick for my tastes.

Summary: An awesome epic fantasy by the master of the genre
Review:

And I used to think that it couldn't get any better than "The Great And Secret Show"...

Enter the powerful imagination of Clive Barker as he takes you on a mindblowing journey through the Imajica... Join Gentle, once a great and powerful Reconciler, as he meets his former love Pie'oh'Pah, rediscovers his destiny and travels through the worlds that make up the Imajica in a desperate attempt to reconcile the Earth with the four reconciled worlds of the Imajica.

Set in a mystical fantasy universe, Imajica is a monster of a book. Although my European version of Imajica was 1138 pages big, I managed to read it within three days - I simply couldn't stop once I got started. Imajica contains everything that a reader could ever want in a single book: Exotical characters, a wonderful story, powerful violence and a vivid sexual element. And as if that wasn't enough, Barker also redefines the entire Christian mythology! Read it at all costs!
