Rating: Summary: THE BEST OF THE SERIES.... Review: Having read the other 2 books in the Hudson series, I can honestly say this is by far the greatest one. The plot is more exciting and the characters have more depth. As with the other 2 books, more secrets are revealed, further complicating Rain Arnold's already troubled existance. You get a new look at some of the lesser characters, like Jake. The worst part about this book is having to end it....it leaves you begging for more! Hopefully, all the questions that this book makes you ask will finally be revealed in the last novel of the series: "The End of the Rainbow".
Rating: Summary: Not as good as her past books Review: I didn't find the Rain Seriers as good as some of her others. But it was not as bad as some like to say it was. There were not as many twist, turns and suprises as in other books. I also don't like the way they kill some many people off. Yes, family members die, but not that many in so short of a time. For once, I would like to see someone actually follow thier dream and see it not end of tragically for them. I do agree with some of the others, they are really getting to predicatable and repatative. I only hope that they get better!
Rating: Summary: This book is worth reading Review: I liked this book, I too thought it was the best in the series. I thought that RAIN was the second best, and Lighting Strikes needs work, a whole lotta work. I think that Rain appeared to be a smart girl in the first novel, but her sense slowly leaves her brain as the series continues. I can't believe that this is the same girl from RAIN. This book has more action than any of the others. I hate to say it, but V.C. Andrew's writers repeat the same nonsense in each series. There's always a few nutballs running around in the family, one moment they are normal, or at least semi, and the next moment they are crazier than Ted Bundy. Of course we all knew that Austin and Rain were going to have a baby girl, V.C. Andrew's books aren't usually about boys. I am glad that Rain found happiness with Austin, I thought that their relationship was sweet. Rain found her a perfect man, life should really be like in the books.
Rating: Summary: I'm addicted to V.C. Andrews now Review: I must say that I was rather fascinated with this novel. I never took the oppurtunity to read any V.C. Andrews books and am glad to have done so. I feel that Eye of the storm is the best of The Hudson Family Series. I feel Rain is a Heroin. To be as strong and faithful no matter what card she was dealt is so inspiring. Despite all her hardships she pulled thru. This was a real page turner for me. I read it in 3 hours. I was so impressed by this that I would strongly recommend any true V.C. Andrews fan to read this particular series if they haven't already. I'm now in the process of reading The End of the Rainbow. After that i feel that there are many more V.C. Andrews novels i'll move on to reading.
Rating: Summary: The Ghost Writer Is the Fortune Hunter Review: I really didn't like this book. I was disgusted that Brody had to die. He was the only character I liked. Austin was a poor replacement. Like any decent girl would jump into bed with her physical therapist. And certainly you would expect the therapist himself to have more ethics, since Rain has proved herself amoral time and time again. She should know better. In the first book, she was always condemning her sister. Supposedly, she had some self-respect. Then there was that incident with Corbette. She certainly hasn't learned her lessons. Though perhaps we are to believe that her accident left her totally shattered. But living in the present, and having grown up with a wild sister, why didn't she use protection? Also, sick of hearing the phrases "fortune hunter" (basically used to replace Austin's name) and "throwing caution to the wind". GW repeats them ad nauseaum. Oh, so Rain named her daughter Summer. Why am I not surprised? The ghost writer has this thing about avoiding common names like Susie, or Ashley, and certainly never Katie. And quess what? His eccentricity is starting to suggest a lack of creativity. He needs fancy names to hide a lack of depth. Besides, I believe that when you try so hard to avoid banality, you'll usually sink deeper and deeper into it. It gets 1 star not only because I can't go lower, but also because I liked Brody while he lasted.
Rating: Summary: Hmmmm...let's see.... Review: I'm not going to lie, but this was a guilty pleasure. But only a few parts could be considered so. When Allison told off Rain, of course. What I'm getting at is the fact that this book couldn't hold my interest long enough for me to keep reading it. At about page 200, I said, "Ahhh...I'll just put this book down and continue tomorrow." Tomorrow never came. The book is stuffed in my closet under a pile of dirty clothes that I never bothered washing. Maybe that's where it belongs - I don't know. I didn't like it. I suggest that you reread Heaven if you want REAL entertainment and REAL V.C. Andrews. Of course, it's always a cure for insomnia. I fall asleep and sleep like the dead. Heaven help me, but I can't believe I wasted eight dollars on this. I could have bought something more worthwhile. Now I'm going to crawl into a dark corner and bemoan about the fact that there's another miniseries being regurgitated by these people... "sob"
Rating: Summary: Awesome Series Review: I've read every book of the Hudson Series including the latest one End of the Rainbow about Rain's daughter Summer. The whole series was great! I've also read the Runaways and some other VC Andrews books, but the Hudson series is by far my favorite!
Rating: Summary: I Liked It Review: Rain Arnold has discovered that she in in her grandmothers will...she nearly inherits EVERYTHING. She is now supposed to run her grandmothers company, house, and deal with problems over her own--especially when she gets into an accident that devistates her. She becomes an invalid. Unable to ever walk again. Her therapist--Austin--seems to be the only person that can ever understand her. They start to fall in love... The water begins to boil when Victoria finds out about Rain and Austin, and she threatens his career and his family. Rain doesn't know what to do. Victoria is getting crazier and crazier, and is umbearable to live with. Rain seeks shelter inside herself and begins to wonder is anything will ever be bright again. I thought this was a really good book. Although a few new surprises, it is altogether the same plot as almost all the other VCA books. Don't get me wrong this was a really good book, but it had to be the same in some parts as most of the other books. I recommend this book to all of you who love VCA!
Rating: Summary: Same Ole Same Ole Review: Some may say that Rain was better than most of the gostwriter series, but seriously ... The only good series the gostwriter ever wrote were the Logan, Cutler, and Orphans. The rest ... well lets just say thats a waste of eight bucks ... if you want a book to compare to the sensational My Sweet Audrina, or Heaven go out and buy Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden or Rebecca by Daphne Dumaurier.
Rating: Summary: "Eye of The Storm" follows formula Review: The "V.C. Andrews" books that have been written since her death all seem to follow a formula. This usually includes multiple deaths, one or more of which happens tragically; a young girl surrounded by strangers who are usually in some way related and some kind of abuse- either physical, emotional, or sexual. "Eye of The Storm" is no different. Much of the plot is reminiscent of previous novels in other series, and is also quite predictable. I still enjoyed reading the book, but found it not quite as exciting as I had predicted. Even with the dissapointment I had in "Eye of The Storm", I am still awaiting the publishing of the next book, "The End of The Rainbow", which comes out in February 2001. I am sure that the series wouldn't make much sense without "Eye of The Storm", but I am hoping "The End of The Rainbow" redeems it's predecessor.
