Rating: Summary: Good getaway book Review: A good read, and probablly the best series. However, it bothered me how this book didn't bridge to the others in that Luke's character changes dramatically and contradicts how he is portrayed in WofD. Later on, it is said that he sleeps around on Leigh during their marraige and ends up as an abusive fater toward the baby he swears to her that he'll love. A little unbelieveable, but interesting and bittersweet.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful!! Review: A wonderful, exciting book. Even though I knew what would happen to Leigh (Heaven's mother) I hoped that she wouldn't die in the end. I'm glad the writer ended the story on a promising note, Leigh wishing all goes well for her, Luke, and her unborn child. It would have been too sad to read her death scene. The best part of this book was when Leigh met Luke. Luke and Leigh are refreshing characters. I really wanted everything to work out for them even though I knew the tragic end. The writer of this last Heaven's series really let a little of his/her own style come out when she/he wrote the Luke and Leigh characters.
Rating: Summary: This book is the best Review: All of the V.C. Andrews are great but this one was sad I cried I'll forever rememeber books I recomend this book to any one
Rating: Summary: Its the best Review: Along with Music in the Night, this is the best one ever! Leigh is so realistic and the story is beautifully written. I read that book before any others in the series and I'm glad cuz it explains alot too!
Rating: Summary: The Fifth/Final Book in the Casteel Series Review: Although "Web of Dreams" begins with Annie Stonewall and Luke Casteel Jr returning to Farthinggale Manor for Troy Tatterton's funeral, this book does not revolve around these two like in the previous novel, "Gates of Paradise". Instead, it's the prequel to the Casteel series. In it, 12-year-old Leigh VanVoreen (Annie's grandmother) tells her traumatic story of family secrets and abuse via the diary her father gives her on her 12th birthday, the same one Annie finds upstairs in Jillian's abandoned bedroom. In "Leigh's Book", her first major shock occurs when her mother (Jillian) divorces Cleave (who Leigh had always considered her real father, but he's not) and remarries Tony Tatterton, a very young, rich proprietor of Tatterton Toys. Like many of the mothers portrayed in V. C. Andrews' books, Jillian is a very superficial, devious, self-centered woman. Probably one of the most treacherous things she does is manipulate her young daughter to be a "distraction" for Tony so he won't persist Jillian for sex, which Jillian believes drains her of her beauty. Leigh and Tony's time spent together is hardly innocent, though, especially when Tony persuades Leigh to pose nude for him for his upcoming lifelike doll creation. Despite the sexual abuse from her stepfather, I think the worst betrayal is when Leigh confesses to Jillian what Tony's been doing to her--and her mother doesn't believe her. From there, Leigh is pretty much on her own and responsible for some major life-altering decisions no teenager should have to make. I'm sure I'm not the only one who felt a great deal of sympathy for Leigh considering everything she went through. "Web of Dreams" makes a great conclusion to this series. After reading "Gates of Paradise", I was expecting "Web of Dreams" to be just as bad or even worse as its predecessor, but thankfully I was wrong. This is a terrific book and sheds some much-needed light on a very dysfunctional family and their secrets. "Web of Dreams" is definitely a not-to-missed V. C. Andrews book. And if you enjoyed this one, then don't miss the previous four books in this series: "Heaven" (#1), "Dark Angel" (#2), "Fallen Hearts" (#3), and "Gates of Paradise" (#4).
Rating: Summary: SAME GLOOMY STORY OVER AND OVER Review: Although I think that there is some talent involved in the writings of V.C. Andrews' series, I find it is not used to the best means and this is unfortunate. The books have a certain writing style that is engaging, but, the plots are spoiled by repetition, for one. The story lines are pretty much always the same, with few real variations and the characters are, as well. This gets to be quite tiresome. I usually know what to expect from the parents and can guess what the "big, dark secrets" are. It seems to me, that if you've read one, you've read them all. My biggest criticism of Web of Dreams and other V.C. Andrews' books is the obsession with incest. Why is every book about incestuous relationships. I find this to be disturbing and cannot quite understand why more people are not put off by this. In Web of Dreams, this is very blatant and it is disgusting. Also, there is usually no redemption for the characters who have been subjected to this abuse. The situation is never corrected and the perpetrators are not held responsible and accountable for their actions. I found the book "Melody" to be a bit easier to take, but, still full of confusion, unhappiness, and again, more incest type relationships. I would love for the writer/s of the V.C. Andrews books to drop the incest theme and give their characters more redeeming qualities and lives. Good triumphing over the evil, not just passing it on from generation to generation. I hope they take the challenge. In the meantime, I've got healthier things to input into my mind and these books are definitely dark and leave a spirit of gloom. I am not interested in feeling gloomy. For those of you who think the way I do, you'll want to pass. That these books are so popular, really makes me wonder about our society. Finally, I feel: input darkness, output darkness; input light, output light.
Rating: Summary: BRAVO V.C. ANDREWS WRITERS! Review: I have read and own every v.c. andrews book ever written. I have never been a big reader until the day I picked up one of her books. These are the only books that I can read from cover to cover. Yes, they are sometimes disturbing, but at least people aren't getting killed in bizarre ways, like Stephen King. I do agree that children or young teenagers should not read these books. I also feel they should make movies for all of her series. Keep it up V.C. Andrews writers!!
Rating: Summary: Web of Dreams Review: I have read every novel written by VC Andrews, and I think that the Casteel series was the best series written by her. I fount that reading Web of Dreams first helped other readers understand the story better. It starts out Leigh Vanveeran has a happy life, then while a way on a magnificent vacation a startling event happens, and it is going to change her life forever. Leigh goes away to live with her mother and very young step father the famous billionaire Tony Tatterton the owner of Tatterton Toys.As she learns to accept the new life which has been thrown upon her Leighs mother starts to forget who she is and starts staying away all the time at charitie events all Leigh has is her younger step brother Troy to hang around on weekends and her upcoming school to keep her mind occupied. While on a return home from school Tony Tatterton starts taking advantage of things and something happens to Leigh that is going to make her mother face reality and ends up forcing her to run away. Leigh ends up meeting charming Luke Casteel and she runs off to the Willies to be with him. Leighs rich life takes a turn where shes lives without even running hot water or a bathroom to use, but the love for Luke Casteel overides all the hardship you have to face living in the Willies. Untill on a dark cold night she doesn't know if his love is strong enough to keep her hanging on.
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: I just fininshed this book about 2 days ago. It was truely an awesome book, it made the entire series some together. It was nice to find out that Luke Casteel wasnt always a mean insensitive jerk of a man. Although if Leigh hadnt of died Heaven would have probably would have had a better life. I do recommend reading this book. But its important to read the entire series first. I can definately see myself reading this series again in the near future.
Rating: Summary: The BEST!!! Review: I loved loved loved Web of Dreams! It was my favorite V.C. Andrews book (next to my Sweet Audrina and FLowers in the Attic). It was so fresh and perfect. Leigh was strong, in my opinion. She could have fought harder, I admit, but to go through all that tragedy at age THIRTEEN? that takes guts. Luke seemed soooo sweet, it was so hard to believe he bacame such a monster in the end... I wish Leigh never died! I cried, I sobbed, I lied on my bed and just cried for like ten minutes, and then I looked in the mirror... I couldn't stop thinking about Leigh for weeks! It was sooo sad and sooo good! I recommed this book for anyone who has the heart. It's unforgettable.
