Rating: Summary: The Most Wonderful Book Ever Written! Review: This is only my favorite book ever! The Season of Passage is so great, you never want it to end, but when it does, you turn back to the first page and read it again. I have read my paperback copy so many times that it fell apart... and I just ordered the hardcover! The first time I read it, I was only 15. Now I'm 21 and I still can't get enough. Get this book, read this book. It may change the way you think... or it may change your whole life!
Rating: Summary: The Seaon of Passage Review: The Season of Passage is a fiction book about the second manned trip to Mars. The story revolves around the doctor of the crew, Lauren Wagner and her sister, who stays at home with Lauren's fiancé. While there Lauren experiences many horrors, too many to put in this short review, while her sister writes a story which is entertaining and also links brilliantly with the main plot at the end. I have probably not explained the book's plot very well but believe me, it is one of the best books ever!!!! I go to one of the UK's most prestigous grammar schools and have read many pieces of classic literature and this is still my favourite book. I first read it when I was 12 and have just finished reading it for the 3rd time and it is still great. The only book I have ever read that might be just on a par with it is The Green Mile by Stephen King. Overall this is the best book I have ever read and keeps u thrilled and constantly turning the pages to the very end. The only fault is that the book disappointed me because it finished!!!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Amazing Review: This is THE best Chris Pike book ever... it combines adventure, horror and mysticism to give you a great and thrilling read. The way he weaves the story about Chaneen and her kingdom is completely enchanting and wonderful. Read this one, its my fave book of all time!
Rating: Summary: Season of Passage Review: The Season of Passage is the only book I have read by Christopher Pike. If this is any indication of how he writes, I need to read a lot more by him. I loved this book; I loved the whole ambiance of the book and if I knew of any more like this one, I would grab it up.An unmanned space probe is sent to Mars. The pictures it brings back show foot prints. Four years later the Russians send a crew to Mars to check out this marvelous discovery. Contact is lost with the crew and nobody knows what happened. This prompts the Americans to send their own manned ship to determine the fate of the Russians. Imagine their surprise when they find the orbiting ship and one of the cosmonauts alive, despite the freezing temperatures. Dr. Lauren Wagner is puzzled by his missing pulse and the foolish grin that stays on his face. Things start getting creepy when he takes them down on the Martian surface and into some caves. It's a horrorite's dream with plenty of atmosphere and tense moments! Some of the members of the crew do not survive this ordeal and it's a story of survival at it's best. Meanwhile, back on earth Lauren's thirteen year old sister starts writing a journal about an ancient goddess that somehow ties in with what is happening on Mars. My only problem with the book is I didn't like the ending, but that's just me. I thought the book was exceptional and I would give it four stars. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the ending.
Rating: Summary: I adore it. Review: The first Christopher Pike book I ever read was Remember Me, back in the 4th grade. I thought it was incredible, and Pike has been my favorite author since then. The first time I read the Season of Passage, I thought it was ok. I realize now that I just didn't 'get it'. A few more read-throughs and I got it. I loved it so much I wrote a screenplay for it. I have songs to go with it. I have actors picked out to play parts. So, now all I need is a big budget and some names and I could make it into a movie. Then Mister Pike and I would fall in love and get married and make lots of babies... LOL, anyway, yeah, I love the book, I adore the book, I WORSHIP the book... It's just incredible.
Rating: Summary: Science fiction at its highest level! Review: Christopher Pike's most intriguing novel of a doomed expedition to Mars is one of the finest novels of the science fiction genre. Pike's characters are extremely realistic and the dialogue is very well developed. An especially brilliant tactic was to tie the preternatural events on Mars to a very imaginative mythology. Pike's use of flash backs and imagery not only makes the novel multidimensional but also a masterpiece of fiction. Pike has definitely proved his skill to the adult reader population. I strongly recommend this novel to the lovers of the mystical and unknown. Once you pick up this novel and read the first page there is no turning back... for soon you are jetisoned into a journey so mesmerizing that you may not wish to return.
Rating: Summary: More than mere escapism--a book with real literary value Review: As a Yale student, I have read, analyzed, and been lectured on the best works of the western world's literary cannon. But I've also read my share of supermarket fiction--some of which is good escapism, some of which is just awful. I was given Season of Passage for my birthday a number of years ago, and, expecting it to fit somehwere in the range of the supermarket fiction books, was greatly surprised to find that it belonged in a much higher class. This book is a masterpiece, and I mean that in the sense that it has true literary value. A brilliant page-turner, it's one of my favorite novels--along with Crime and Punishment and the Brothers Karamazov. The Season of Passage is a true gem for avid sci-fi fans, and definitely worth the interest of those fed on the classics. This is the only Pike book I have read, and whether or not he just got lucky in writing such a fabulous work, I do not know, but I will attest to the merits of Season.
Rating: Summary: It is a very intruiging and fascinating book! Review: It really is the greatest book Christopher Pike ever wrote! I was so engrossed in reading it that my mum screamed her lungs out in calling me for dinner! I would have stayed up the whole night reading, but I'm not the 'stay up late' type and I fell asleep somewhere out of fatigue. I loved the mystery and suspense, although Christopher Pike does almost always kill off his main characters. A great book, nevertheless. Anybody wanna talk 'bout Christopher Pike's books, email me!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: Season of Passage is truly an amazing book. I stayed up till the sun rose, reading it. It is interesting, riveting and everything anyone could ask for in a novel. This novel is not the typical: bad things occur, one right after another. Everything in this book is believable and relevant. Christopher Pike makes you feel for the characters, despite his signature method of killing off his main characters. This novel is like none other, science fiction, fantasy, horror, thriller. It wraps up nicely, leaving you wanting more, but accepting what you've been left with.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book Ever! Review: The Season Of Passage is the best book I have ever read. I enjoy most litrature but this book had something that caught my attention. The way that Mars seemed to be alive intrugued me because Mars has always been my favorite planet. What gives this book that special edge that everyone loves is that there is now a LOT of stuff going on in the exploration of Mars and this book paranoies and fills you with the beautiful fear of "What if?"
