Summary: intriguing, very well written
Review: My book club read this book and gave it a unamimous thumbs up! The characters were well developed, the story line was interesting and the book was very well written. This is our first read by Due but it won't be our last. Not only was it entertaining, but it made us think deeper than the story level. For example, the meaning of the title in relation to the story, the concept of immortality, our feelings toward Dawit and other characters in the book. The morality of Dawit's action was also a great discussion topic as well as the decision of his wife about what to do with her immortality. I consider this a great read and would highly recommend this book!

Summary: Once you pik it up, you can't put it down!
Review: After reading Tananarive Due's first novel "The Between", I couldn't wait for her to put out another! This book is just as captivating and unforgetable as her first. The imagery and character development were great. The twisting plot is so unpredictable, that I couldn't put the book down, waiting to see what happened next. Due commands your attention to this book, so be prepared for an all-nighter! If you like this book, be sure to read Due's first novel " The Between" as well as "Wild Seed" by Octavia Butler.

Summary: This novel will leave you on the edge of your seat!
Review: A touching yet gripping novel, Tannanarive Due's "My Soul to Keep' will have you on the edge of your seat. It is also a refreshing glance at African American family life, faith, love and the evil that attempts to tear it apart forever.

Life brothers, Mahmoud and Dawit have been separated for many years until their day comes. Mahmoud is there to lure his eternal brother back to Lalibela and make sure their secret of the life giving blood doesn't get out. However, Dawit's love for his mortal family and life were overpowering and could not obey Mahmoud's commands.

A series of senseless deaths in the name of protecting the secret blood started occuring. His wife Jessica becomes suspicious as Dawit's lies about his true identity comes forward. In fear of punishment, Dawit chose to flee with his family. He would take them all and keep them forever if possible. And forever was possible too! To pass the living blood onto his daughter and wife would protect them eternally and never separate them, so he believed. However, he wasn't prepared for what was to come.

Due's heart tugging novel shifts between time periods and will take you on many travels around the world. The emotion felt between Dawit and Jessica is almost real to readers who along with them feel sorrow and also renew their faith in God. It's a wonderful book which has far exceeded my expectations. I like it because it was a book I could read and actually think about the characters while I carried out my own day. My book club is reading it and hopefully everyone will be soon!

Summary: WOW
Review: This was the most frightening book that I have ever read. Ms Due does a wonderful job of making us fall in love with Dawit a loving father and husband who has to make a very difficult decision in order to be with his family forever. I could not put this book down and I immediately went out and bought her first book. After reading "My Soul To Keep", I was mildly disappointed by her first book "The Between", however it was still wonderful. As Ms. Due continues to write better books, I am anxious to see what she comes out with next. I am a definite fan of hers.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great Book. You can't put it down!
Review: I purchased this book because I enjoyed Ms. Due's "The Between." I was not disappointed. The book was wonderful! The story is of an immortal and chronicles the reader through his lifetimes. If you enjoy books by Stephen King, Anne Rice, or Octavia Butler, this book is for you.

Summary: One of the Best Books that I have ever read..
Review: My Soul To Keep, was one of the best books that I have ever read. There were several times when I could not put the book down without finding out what happened next. This book is a must read if you have not read it already. Tananrive Due is a very talented author. I'm sure you will get as much from this book as I did, if not more.. My Soul to Keep is Great... Email me and let me know what you think..

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Artfully written, a definite keeper
Review: My Soul To Keep is captivating from cover to cover. I couldn't wait to read what happened next. It was intriguing and suspenseful. Despite my efforts to dislike Dawit/David, I found myself feeling a profound compassion for him. My Sout To Keep has been compared to Anne Rice's Interview With A Vampire, I think Tananarive Due greatly exceeds Rice's work. I look forward to Due's next novel, a sequel perhaps?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Tale of an immortal soul
Review: This book was GREAT !! I am glad to see African American authors writing with such diversity. This book also reminds somewhat of the "Highlander" tv show, if you like that you will also like this.
