Rating: Summary: I Luv'd dis book Review: I just picked this book out of the fantasy section of the book store and i luv'd it. And im only 12. This was a great book i really recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful reading; it takes you somewhere else! Review: This series is excellent. I borrowed all eight books from a friend at work, and just now ordered them from Amazon! These books are all keepers. The character development is fascinating; Anita is faced with many interesting choices that affect her humanity. Jean-Claude is the sexiest vampire ever to grace a novel's page. I love the dialogue and the humor inbetween the gory parts. I am addicted now and can't wait for the next book to come out!
Rating: Summary: An alternative perspective of vampires Review: Anita Blake is a stud-ette. These books are written on the premise that vampires are a recognized "minority group." The executioner, Anita Blake, must now follow the laws of the land when taking down a vampire or other supernatural creature. Well written and funny as well, I would have given this book 5 stars if not for the inability to suspend my disbelief to such an extent. However, if vampires did exist and were given rights like the rest of us, there is no one I would rather have taking care of us than Anita Blake. Pick up this book, you won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: I love L.K. Hamilton book! Review: I started this series by reading Blue Moon(one of my favorites) Laurell has a great sense of humor when writing these books. I have read all but the Circus of the Damned and I have to say I can't wait. Gulity Pleasures was by far the best in the series next being Blue Moon. There is a great combonation of seriousness, humor, love, and gore in these books that is hard to find in other super natural books. Anita Blake is one of the best characters I have read in book involving vampires, weres, ect. She is frightning in a safe sort of way. I would love to see this series made into movies! I would be the first person in line at the theator!
Rating: Summary: a first time reader of anything like this... Review: so i really have nothing to compare it with. i found myself getting sorta lost in the beginning. anita moves from one thing to the next so quickly. shes in a house surrounded by those she hates, steps outside for a breath of fresh air and finds herself in a whole different set of problems, coming back into the house only to discover that there are more things happening in there. the last 50 pages were fantastic, and its because of those pages alone that im considering getting the next in the series, but....well see...::smile
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK!! Review: I Love this book!! this book is the best vampire book i have ever read!! But, If they ever made a movie based on guilty pleasures, I dont think Tom Cruse would make a good Jean-Claude. He was bad enough playing lestat!! He doesnt have that sense of charm that Jean-Claude has in the book. If you like vampires, i highly recomend you read this book!
Rating: Summary: Laurell K. Hamilton has made an alternate world seem real. Review: Having read "Guilty Pleasures", I was starved for more on Anita Blake, a 5'3" vampire executioner who must now go by the book instead of just killing the blood suckers on sight. Ms. Hamilton's characters seem real, they walk and talk like anyone you might meet on the street, but they could be lycanthropes, vampires, witches, fairies or zombies. I loved it so much, I jumped at the chance to own all 6 tales contained in 2 anthologies and I can even see this rich character driven tale on the silver screen. Tom Cruise, you've played Lestat, how about trying Jean Claude? The hardest part of course will be casting Anita Blake, but maybe Julianna Margulies will consider the role. If you like tales of the dark side, of witches, goblins and werewolves, Anita Blake will take you there. You won't regret the trip. As a long time reader and hobby writer of horror fiction, I have now found a new "favourite author".
Rating: Summary: Best Dialogue and Main Character Review: The entire Anita Blake series has funny, realistic, well-thought dialogue. In fact, these aren't the best book I've read, but they do have the best dialogue because the characters talk like modern people and their dialogue's alive- you can almost hear them talking. Second, it doesn't have the best plot but the characters are likable, hateable, and funny. I read the Anita Blake series as light reading. They're violent, gore-driven, and dark, but still, they can be light reading if you want them to because of the combined humor. When I first saw the cover, I thought that it was going to be childish- I mean, Anita Blake the VAMPIRE HUNTER. Sort of reminds you of BUFFY, and I really hate Buffy. But the main character, Anita Blake, was funny, sarcastic, feisty- things I wish other female characters would have. If you don't like the idea that women can be strong to, don't read the Anita Blake series- but if it's okay with you, I suggest you read it right now.
Rating: Summary: One of the best Sci-Fi series around! Review: The only reason I didn't rate this book 5 stars is because the rest of the books in the series are even better! The beauty of this series is you can pick up any one of the books in it and be transported into the fantastical alternate universe of Anita Blake without feeling as if you've missed something by not reading all the books. Not many series can boast that! Laurell K. Hamilton out did herself with "Nightseer," but she went over the edge with Anita! Long live Jean Claude!
Rating: Summary: the best out of them all Review: Guilty Pleasures is the best!! I love it! From the moment I read the first page, I couldnt put it down. Hamiltons work brings you into the story, like your actually there.
