Rating: Summary: STOP! Read this now! Review: Hi! I'm trying to study but I can't. This author's books are POSSESSING me I think.... Anyway - just look at the number of 5 stars she gets! I love this character, you'll love this character, the real problem is; you HAVE to buy ALL of them before you'll get over it.... there' 8 of 'em now. They'll take you around 2 months to read if you have a life; 9 days if not. Just buy 'em and read 'em, then you won't have to worry about finding the others and you can get on with the buisness of waiting for her next one....(BTW, she's young enough so we should be able to get lots and lots more titles out of her!)
Rating: Summary: Guilty Pleasures Review: I am trying to study, OK? Why am I NOT studying just now? It is ENTIRELY due to this author, she won't stop writting these great books! Don't buy it if are looking for high drama and scintilating prose. DO buy it if want a great read with characters that are well crafted. But, whatever you do, be SURE that the store you buy it from has the rest of the series.... you will need them later.
Rating: Summary: bloody lovely Review: A friend in NC recomended this book to me, knowing that I love Vampires & WereWolfs and Well to make a long story short. I ate this book up in 4 days, and re-reading it again! I am looking forward to reading the rest of her books. Jean Claude sounds like the type of Vampire you would not(!) mind running into on a dark night!
Rating: Summary: Creepy Review: I don't like vampires and I don't think they're sexy. They do, however, make fascinating reading. One of the things that make the vampires and other supernatural creatures in this book so darn creepy is that the darn things are all over the place, even living with ordinary humans. Sort of like gangsters and drug dealers are all over the place in real life; always around somewhere, and nobody can seem to get rid of them permanently. I really like Anita Blake. The danger she faces is overwhelming and I, for one, was on the edge of my seat.
Rating: Summary: fine start to a series with a lot of appeal Review: Hamilton got the Anita Blake series off on the right foot with this one. The high points are: a) Anita herself, a plucky character and warrior; b) Hamilton's descriptive talents, which tell you a lot about a given character in subtle ways; and c) the way she creates an air of danger. From danger comes a great deal of excitement and anticipation, and it's hard to predict how the book will turn out. Recommended even if you normally don't care for vampire/horror books.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous! Review: I've read all the books except for this one. Now that I've read it, I'm just DYING for Obsidian Butterfly. This book has a page turner plot and the coolest characters. Jean-Claude Jean-Claude Jean-Claude!
Rating: Summary: Serious brain candy Review: This is a serious can't put down series. The prose and dialogue are terrible, but there is a lot of imagination and humor. Wonderful characters, great stories- it is well worth your time, but don't buy it if you want something deep- this is serious brain candy.
Rating: Summary: Great Stuff for Fans of "Tongue-in-Cheek" Horror Review: A fine introduction to the world of Anita Blake, animator of the dead and slayer of vampires; a world where the supernatural is commonplace and vampires have civil rights. The author leaves some dangling plot threads, but these could be addressed in future Anita Blake novels. The horror ranges from humorous to downright gruesome and always manages to keep the reader glued to the pages. Definitely recommended.
Rating: Summary: 4 stars for the Anita Blake Series Review: I have started reading Hamilton's books only recently and right now I am at the last book, Blue Moon. On the whole, this series is very good. It has a different twist in plot, it has action, good dialogue and more importantly a gustsy heroine, one you can like. As you read the series, yes, some books will be better than others. But the one consistant throughout the series is the growth of the main character, Anita Blake. The author shows the moral dilemmas that plague the heroine throughout the series and the decisions she makes, whether good or bad. Like I said, this series is really entertaining and worth at least an attempt. Definitely start reading them by order, beginning with Guilty Pleasures, which I think was one of her best ones out of the series. So, if you're looking for something original, Hamilton's Anita Blake books fits the bill. I will defintely keep reading her books and look forward to the next one.
Rating: Summary: YOU'D BETTER READ THIS, EVERYONE! Review: All I can say is, "wow!" This series percieves vampires in a whole new way, and it is absolutely delightful. READ IT! I can't wait for Obsidian Butterfly. Go Jean-Claude!
