Summary: New slayer in town.
Review: This was a very good book. The action and humor is on every page. I swear that I could hear Buffy speaking through Anita. *LOL* I felt that Anita needed to be a bit of a "strong female character". A friend told me that I need to keep reading, b/c she becomes one. This book just sets the stage for the other books, which I look forward to reading. There is a new slayer that the creatures of the night must be careful of. Blake, Anita Blake. If you read this book, you won't be sorry. Trust me.

Summary: Guilty Pleasures is just that.
Review: I have to admit to enjoying this book immensly, even while knowing it was not nearly as good as it could have been. Imagine crossing Sam Spade with Dr. Frankenstein and the result being a 5'3" female. That's about the sum of Anita Blake. The books read like pulp fiction from the early half of the century. Still, the result is a page turning, quick reading adventure. This isn't Proust and it need not be. If you want some frothy, occasionally gory fun, by all means you'll enjoy this series.

Summary: Wonderfully entertaining--ghoulishly clever!
Review: The first of many "Guilty Pleasures" await you when you read this novel. Fast-paced, vastly interesting characters that are introduced quickly but effectively into the story. The first in the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series offers up great fun and lots of action. This is the grown-ups' "Buffy"! You will love this book!

Summary: Guilty Pleasures -- You MUST read this book...
Review: The Anita Blake series -- I cannot express enough how MUCH you need it read them if you haven't already. Let me tell you the reasons why.

One, the main character, Anita is tough and modern, and she could beat the socks off of the biggest bodyguard out there at only 5'4 (with the help of some uzis, sawed off shotguns, and her precious firestar.)

Two, the best contemporary science-fiction/fantasy books you'll ever find. Guns, vampires, werewolves, and necromancers are just a walk in the park.

Three, (and I feel MOST important), might I mention that taking one look at ANY of the male characters in this book is enough to make you stop, drool, and forget your own name? How about that delectable French fanged popsicle with the tight leather pants, Jean-Claude? (You can bite ME anytime, JC!)

Ahem. In any case, I recommend these books to any sane SF/Fantasy book lover out there, because I'm afraid dissapointment is not an option. I am 99.9% sure you will fall in hopeless love with these books after reading them, so get a head start, eh?

Guilty Pleasures is the first book in (so far) a series of nine. Read away, m'friends...

Summary: Anita Blake Rocks!
Review: All of the Anita Blake books I have read have been great fun. This whole thing is thrust on her and now she has to cope! (And how would you like vampires showing up on your doorstep!)

Really great read!

Summary: Read in one day!
Review: I am a big fan of Buffy, and when my friend recommended the series to me, I can see why he did. The character of Anita Blake is like Buffy, only tougher! The way Hamilton writes is entertaining, the plot is easy to follow, and I love Anita's sense of humor. I also like that we can see the vulnerable side of Anita too. She is not a one dimensional character by any means. I am reading the second book in the series now.. and I am wondering what is going to occur between Anita and JeanClaude. Seems rather promising. I am sure that I will finish the series all the way up to "Obsidian Butterfly" and it is definitely the best Vampire series I have read since Anne Rice.

Summary: Impressive
Review: I was really suprise on how much I liked this book. It was interesting to see the characters and how they interacted with each other. I liked the Char. if "Willy" and hope that he's in the furture books. Anita had some funny lines, but I thought she should have been a stronger female character. (I was told in the furture book she's much stronger.) I kept seeing a lot of Buffy in Anita. I just wish that we knew more about her background, but maybe that will happen in furture books. If you start this series, you don't be sorry.

Summary: Fun Fluff to read at night!
Review: Okay, so it has a lame plot, and the prose and dialogue are hmm, lacking, but this is fun stuff! I like Anita Blake. She's bad to the bone. This is the first book of the series and it introduces us to Anita and my favorite character, Edward. St. Louis never looked so good, and well, vampires are just fun....to kill. Read it!

Summary: Hooked by Anita
Review: I have to tell you that I am an avid reader and love vampires. I never found reading about them very interesting. But when a friend reccomended this book to me. I was hooked. I bought all of them within 5 days. I loved Anita, she is funny and tough, but I caught a wiff of her growing fear of her own powers. The humor and detail in which Hamilton wites kept me hooked. You have to try them but fair warning you'll read them over and over.

Summary: A Vampire Series that doesn't "Suck"
Review: This is the 1st book in a great series, and one of the best in it.It crosses genre easily from crime to horror to erotic thriller seemlessly. The Master Vampire Nickolaos reminds me of "Claudia" from Anne Rice's "The Vampire Lestat". Or rather what she might have turned out like if she lived a 1000 years! The action scenes are well written and Hamilton's sense of humor is a big plus. Don't you hate it when some author's(Anne Rice hello?) try to make a book more serious than fun? It's a fast and furious read.Hamilton know's her audience well. Before you read this you might want to get the rest of the series so you won't have to wait to read the next one! All in all THIS BOOK ROCKS!
