Summary: Good Portrayal
Review: The only thing I think could have been better for this book would be alittle more action in cirtain parts. There apeared to be momentary slowdowns in the plot. All in all the book contained a fair amount of action and tied in quite well into the story. I think a few of the characters/places borrowed from the game were not portrayed quite the way they were in game. However granting creative licence they fit in very well to the book.

Summary: A Pointless Melodrama - go play the game instead
Review: The story here basically involves a man accidentally hijacked by the ensorcelled armour of a cruel but long-dead warlord, involuntarily urged towards another warlord (who owns the helmet; oh, so it's a Set Item) looking to possess the powers of the armour, and they finally clash - with predictable results. In the meantime, we meet up with a stereotypical insectoid demon confused about who's really in power, a lady necromancer who can't quite get a hold of a couple of 'grateful dead', an obligatory nubile female companion of the warlord.... and uninspired invocations of such in-game names as Atma, Horazon and Meshif.

Obviously, somebody has lifted a few names from the game, but that does not necessarily a good story make. Character development amounts to a pitiful zero, the story itself uninspired, the writing style full of annoying rhetoric, overuse of italics for emphasis and teenaged mentality. Even the villains could not be more unoriginal. Clichéd expressions run plentiful throughout character speech, and the characters themselves are unsympathetizable. The overwhelming sensation of watching a melodrama, full of over-acting and predictable characters, completely envelops the book. Characters are pushed towards actions and fates without any prior development or believable impetus, and conclusions they undertake come more from impetuous action rather than personality tendency - in short, flat boring characters.

Knaak nonchalantly brings up "Lut Gholein", "Vizjerei", "Rathma" and other Diablo-esque names, but hardly any of his attempts at identifying the world means anything. That is, he doesn't even bother to develop these places and names. That is the worst form of writing in novelisations. The world of Diablo - Sanctuary - is invoked without substance. These names and places evoke more culture and mean more things in the game than in this book. There is hardly any originality to Knaak's writing, insofar as one might attempt to expand upon and realise the colourful and fearful world Blizzard has created. In "Legacy of Blood", the attempt to portray Sanctuary is merely shallow and perfunctory. Certainly, there is absolutely none of the magical/poignant/hellish atmosphere that the game itself powerfully invokes.

This is nothing more than a fancifully thin and immaturely written story, about as interesting as a CD2 whirlwind polearm barbarian. A lot more intelligence has gone into designing the game than writing this book. For discerning readers (and gamers), I strongly recommend you spend your time playing the game instead. You lose nothing by not reading this. ...

Summary: Diablo: Legacy of Blood
Review: This book is a great read for people who play the game Diablo or Diablo II. It is full of excitement and adventure. As a child I am not very sure how adults would see this book, but in my opinion, as a Diablo fan, this is one of my favorite books ever! The dangerous parts and sort of scary parts make this book wonderful!

Summary: Diablo: Legacy of Blood Rocks
Review: This book is awesome! The plot is rich and characters are interesting and unique. Sure, it might be a computer game novel, but nevertheless, the author still came up with his own characters and much of his own story. You will like this book if you like fantasy books with swordplay and sorcery, and if you are my age, it is also quite challenging. If you do not like violence and some mild adult language, then you might not enjoy this book as much. All in all, this book deserves five out of five stars, if not six out of five!

Summary: Play game, then read book
Review: This book is really good. If you have played the game then it will be really easy to understand, and it is something you want to read if your not online. There's blood, guts, and gore just like in the game. It's interesting and explains a few things about the game that might not be standing out. And for those who haven't played the game that's alright because the only part you will get confused on (if you do) is when they use certain words like that are in the game, but most likely they explain themselves more into the book. If you haven't played the game and you find this book interesting, then I suggest that you go buy the game!

Summary: Ugh
Review: This book left a seriously bad taste behind, so much so that I actually feel a little annoyance towards the person who recommended it to me. What a waste of time.

I'm not going into why I didn't like the book. There are a couple of reviews here that sum it up quite well. Basically, I think the literature that came with the game is a far more engaging read.

Summary: A very entertaining read from start to finish!
Review: This book was a great read! After having been disappointed by the first STARCRAFT book, this one rocked! I didnt find it getting slow in any way and was exciting enough for me to not want to put it down. I havent read a book faster than I have this one! For those of you who havent played the games, It may seem a little lacking in background information on the world of DIABLO. Otherwise it was jam packed with spells and demons and loveable mayhem. The good thing about the book was that it was an original story based on the DIABLO world and not a rip off of the games story (unlike the starcraft book which I think a monkey could have written better), that way it doesnt read like a familiar story.

All in all a great book. Eagerly recommend it to everyone!

Summary: Dark Fantasy, I love it!
Review: This book was fantastic, I had trouble even putting it down! Based on the Fantasy RPG Diablo series, by Blizzard Entertainment. You'll encounter characters, spells, and even towns from this popular PC game.

Legacy of Blood, is base around a few treasure hunters who stumble across an evil relic, the armor of Bartuc the Warlord of Blood. While one of the treasure hunters is possessed by the evil warlords sprite, the young necromancer Kara must hunt him down, and either free him, or kill him.

Richard A. Knaak knew how to forge a plot to keep the pages turning. If your looking for a good book, and your a fantasy buff...Get this book!
