Summary: His best yet written
Review: I've been a Koontz fan for a number of years now and I've read almost everything he's written. I feel that Darkfall was and will always be his best written book. He surpasses Steven King by a long shot.

Summary: This is the scariest book I've ever read!
Review: This book is a stay-up-all-night-until-you-finish- then-sleep-with-the-lights-on book. How do I know that it is that scary and interesting? Because it is the only book that ever gave me nightmares.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: My first--a great one to cut your teeth on!
Review: One of the most intense novels I've ever read. I was shivering in 90 degree heat because the outdoor scenes were so vividly written. The spiritualism spooked me to all delight, and the little critters had me afraid to jump off the bed! You absolutely MUST read this novel!!!

Summary: Talk about a chase scene
Review: This is the first of my many readings of Dean Koontz and deffinatly not the last. The Chase scenes are so intense it makes you think that you are there. For better pleasure, read this at night outside like I did. It makes this book even more intense. This is a fast paced book so keep your eyes open. The only reason for the "9" was the last chapter didn't quite fit the book as much as I thought it should

Summary: A chilling masterpiece.
Review: A mixture of horror and suspense at its best. A must read for Koontz fans

Summary: A demented villian and a righteous cop what more is needed
Review: A bad guy assisted by all the powers of darkness attemps to destroy a crime family. The chose for one righteous cop is to stand by and let it happen or risk all that is dear to him in a fight against all that is evil. This novel was drop dead awesome, in fact perhaps 9 is a little unfair. The story delivers a cool plot, characters that you not only believe in, but that you want to believe in, and a battle that is so ambitious that only the most skilled and articulate of writers would dare so much as an attempt. The only thing I disliked was the lack an an actual battle. Instead, there is more of a spiritual confrontation, and perhaps that is most appropriate when one considers the nature of the adversary. I loved it

Summary: Could not put it down.
Review: Love Dean Koontz, Darkfall was another one of his books that you just can't put down

Summary: HEART STOPPING TERROR!!!!!!!!
Review: When I read this book I couldn't put it down. Then for two weeks after I couldn't sleep with the lights off. This is the book that also got me hooked on Dean Koontz's books. I have yet to find another author like Dean Koontz. Even Stephen King doesn't come close

Summary: Dean Koontz--Darkfall (1984)
Review: One of Dean Koontz's first works, his immaturity and indecision as a horror/suspense writer is fairly evident in his 1984 project "Darkness". As winter envelopes the city, several mutilated, chewed bodies turn up in less than a week. Detective Jack Dawson takes on the case with his partner, Rebecca Chandler, only to realize the horror that they have gotten themselves into. At first they think they are searching for a mysterious serial killer, but they soon begin to hear strange noises in the venilation systems and in the plumbing.

As "Darkness" unfolds, Dawson and Chandler find themselves up against hidious creatures that do not die and do not stop their pursuit to wipe out the entire city. As both become more involved with the supernatural presence that is governing these horrific monsters, Dawson must not only stop the beasts, but save his family in the process.

Fairly cliched "monster mash" romp that is neither that intriguing and certainly not believable. Those who enjoy voodoo and superstitution will find this Koontz work much more appealing, while those who search for novels that grab hold from the initial page, swallows the reader with its heartfelt sincerity, and touches the soul with an incredible finish should definately check out his later work. Not one of his better efforts.

Summary: His Best
Review: For scariness I rank this with the Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby and It. This is for people who like tales of the supernatural that make your hair stand on end. Couldn't put it down (or sleep!!)
