Rating: Summary: A thrilling read with a less than satisfying climax. Review: Dean Koontz's Hideaway is an interesting, thrilling novel that explores the nature of good and evil. Koontz takes no shortcuts; he brings out the horror in every scene. The only fault was that, like much of his work, the conclusion was not totally satisfying. It builds us up for a gargantuam conclusion, but only gives us an abrupt, unmemorable ending. However, compared with all the other assets in the book, from the terrific heroes to the memorably sadistic villain, it hardly matters.
Rating: Summary: his books keep me up at night Review: this book was great. i hated the movie they made of this book. two of the many things i liked about this book and all the others were koontz always put God in his books and the leading lady is always strong and unafraid. those two along with he keeps me up at night is worth the purchase.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! One of my favorites. Review: This is one of my favorite books dy Dean. I've read about 25 of his and own 20. I can honestly say this is one of his best titles. The way he uses medical science and death will have you losing sleep to finish this one. Grab a copy and read it today.
Rating: Summary: Leaves you with a great doubt about the "humanity" of humans Review: Dean Koontz takes a very contriversal subject and turns it into a horror story above all horror stories. This book really makes you wonder if monsters like this really exist but is real enough that I pick up the paper and expect to see Vassago there. The plot was at first confusing then it settled into fast paced wonder. I've read this book time and time again. Each time I get chills.
Rating: Summary: One of Dean Koontz's best in terms of suspense and horror Review: This book is up there with the suspense of Midnight and the religious theme of Sole Survivor. This book poses the questions of is there life after death and how the constant forces of good and evil inherent in mankind interact.
Rating: Summary: I loved every page of the book and couldn't put it down. Review: Every book of his is a great read.
Rating: Summary: Nothing like the movie--This is great! Review: Dean strikes an immediate emotion lock on Hatch Harrison. You are put inside him to experience the life and death thrills of the book. The psychic connection with an evil presence is done in an original way. You feel and live with the protagonist until the book is done, which, if you were me, would be not long after you started.
Rating: Summary: Wow!!! Review: Start with the accident scent and you will not be able to put the book down. When I did put it down, 28 hours later, I was finished. This is a very vivid book that jumps off the page. It was like watching a movie in your head. The main charaters where interesting and very likable. The movie did not do it justice. It is scarier with the small child being taken rather than a spoiled adult. Audrey
Rating: Summary: Two thumbs up..... Review: Hideaway I found to be very good! The story was interesting and had me right from the begining. I wonder where he comes up with these great ideas? A definate read for those winter months... chilling!
Rating: Summary: One of Koontz's Better Bestsellers Review: I thought the book was very thought provoking, especially considering the mystical quality of the book. Koontz delves into the question of the existence of a higher power (God) and the existence of an evil higher power (Satan). Few authors are bold enough to take this challenge
