Rating: Summary: The most frightening of all! Review: He strikes again with this fantastic story that the movie made a mockery of. The concept totally misplaced. Real evil and terror of situations that are out there. Sometimes we hear about these, sometimes we're not. Other movies I've seen that didn't even come close to the evil perceived in this. Let's not forget the flip of the coin. The oldest battle in time- Good versus Evil. Who wins out? Who loses? What could you lose that you hold so dear to you? This story makes you think of all those little things that really matter. Read it and find out for yourself.
Rating: Summary: Read the book- stay away from the movie Review: This is in the category of Dean Koontz books that are incomparable. Other books have been made into movies and won best picture, and that doesn't have this level of evil. The adopted daughter is a very crucial part. When someone dies and is brought back to life after a certain time period, you wonder what did they see, or go through. People talk of experiencing various things. This puts a spin on all that you've ever read or heard about. It is a great read and the scariest of all, is that there are people out there who are truly this evil. Stick to the book and don't destroy your images in your mind by watching the movie. If Mr. Koontz was disappointed ... what do you think?
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I enjoyed reading Koontz' prose--it's compeling, graphic, and impactive, even musical at times. He writes believable characters and gives them actions consistant with their characters. But I found this story so unbelievable, contrived, and obviously manipulated that I would never recommend it to anyone. And the ending--it was not carefully constructed. Rather, the author opted for an easy, quick way out of the story problem, especially with Hatch's continuous clairvoyance of Jeremy's whereabouts. Why wasn't it continuous early on in the book? Simply because the author didn't find it convenient--he had three hundred more pages to write. No explanation is given for this sudden continuous clairvoyance as distunguished from the periodic type he had experienced during the earlier parts of the book. This lack of consistancy made the book increasingly unbelievable for me. And the "scientific" basis of such involuntary clairvoyance--that two people had a near-death experience and were revived by the same doctor? Nonsense! Cite one such case in real life.
Rating: Summary: Scary , as Usual Review: Deep suspense. How are two lives thrown together? Why is the young man a killer? Why is the other man seeing things? Will they ever meet? Almost makes one cringe in sheer terror, as each chapter unfolds and each step is paved for more questions and more horror. Mr. Koontz......another job well done.

Rating: Summary: One of Koontz's Best! Review: I read this book a few years ago and can still remember the plot. As soon as you start you can't stop because just a few pages into the book Hatch has an accident and dies. Doctors bring him back and now has eyes of a serial killer. He actually sees the killer killing people. Very graphic at times not for the weak. The characters get even more interesting when both Hatch and the serial killer realize that they are seeing through each other's eyes. This was one book that I couldn't put down. The ending to the book was also very well done.
Rating: Summary: UNFORGETTABLE VISIONS Review: I loved this book!! I havent bothered to sit down and read a book in years. My friend once recommended Dean Koontz and now i know why. This book was compelling from start to finish. Vassago's character still gives me the creeps. Coming from the San Bernardino area didnt help either. While reading, i was able to picture every act he commited. Although a figure to hate and remorse, i could not help but admire the fellow. The way the entire plot fits into all the characters is outstanding. Im now reading The Bad Place and now my admiration is leaning towards Candy. I plan on purchasing many of his books in the future. If only they made a movie!!!
Rating: Summary: There's a fine line between the natural and super-natural... Review: ...And Dean Koontz crosses over it, again and again, in "Hideaway". 'The dead stay dead'...Or do they? After all, the hardworking folks in the medical profession are making new advances all the time, saving lives everyday. Though sometimes they must ask themselves, is every life worth saving? Certainly that's the case in this spell-binding novel where we track the lives of two people, miraculously brought back from the other side. One a hard-working family man, the other a sociopathic killer. You'll get inside their heads, learn what they think and how they feel. Then, watch in horrid fascination as their lives gradually intertwine, like the threads of a spider's web, until at last they come together in the ultimate battle of good verses evil. This was one of the most well-written psychological thrillers that I've ever read. Dean Koontz has the ability to make his characters come alive. He lets us know them, makes us care what happens to them. Then puts them on the brink of danger, making it impossible not to fear for their safety. And, that's what makes this book so impossible to put down. It's a must-read for fans and new readers alike.
Rating: Summary: Twisted Review: It kind of makes you wonder what goes on in the heads of those who write things like this. Read Hideaway and you will find out. This has to be the second most twisted, evil book I have read (yet), second only to False Memory. The character descriptions are so descriptive that I found my eyes hiding from the sunlight after reading about Vassago. Read it and find out why. I think that if someone were a little impressionable (and evil) after reading it, they might just have a few macabre whims. Stranger things have happened. Of course we all know there is evil lurking around, but do yourself a favor and read this book, then put yourself in any one of the number of victims shoes and be thankful that these twisted, horrible things only happen few and far between in our "real world." (At least I HOPE this is somewhat true.)
Rating: Summary: A major success for Koontz... Review: Hideaway is an example of Koontz at his best. The emotion in this book ebbs and flows in waves. One minute I was crying the next I was laughing. A perfect balance of humor (usually dark humor) with the initially terrifying parts of the novel. You can't have a good book without both. The characters were well developed and wholely believable. The religious slant on the book lends a light to Koontz literature that I have never before seen. The incorporation of God and the Catholic church into the scene was a masterpiece. Perhaps you would not find this book exciting if you were not into the incorporation of religion in any form into a book; but each to their own.
