Rating: Summary: Have I Become Desensitized By Reading This [Stuff]? Review: So, you really want to know what I think of this excuse for a novel? Ok. But it's not gonna be pretty. First of all, I didn't like the pictures of the characters on the stepback. Second, Lillian is so annoying, especially when she is a little kid. "What am I to do?" and such quotes of hers irk me. Then there is the fact that her uncle/father is the typical V.C. male stereotype; incestuous, rapist, "roars with displeasure". I admit that the real V.C. Andrews took on a difficult, and admirable task when she decided to explore such issues as incest, rape, child abuse and other forms of depravity (in the early 80's especially), however, it gets just plain sick, not to mention unoriginal, when reading about it in every series. To sum up, bad things happen in this book, yet I cease to care.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good but not what I was hoping for.... Review: Some of what was written could have been left out. Like Lillian's first day at school and the description of the shoes, being locked away in a shed and etc. None of that was remotely interesting! The GhostWriter(GW) should have picked up the story after what Lillian's "father" did to her and the result of it. Then went to Lillian meeting Bill Cutler and so forth. I was looking for the famous fight between Lillian and Laura Sue that seemed to be the main focus of in Dawn for it played a huge chunk in the events that twisted Dawn's life. But the ending is rushed to a fast conclusion. I wanted this: To know more about her life at the hotel, her first thoughts about Dawn's mother, Randolph meeting Laura Sue for the first time, the fight that took place, Lillian plotting Dawn's fate, her feelings on how what she did to a young baby would affect her, if she had moments of doubts, how she could so easily move on with her life after doing so, the obvivious fight she had with Bill upon finding out what he had done, her feelings then. That is what is missing from these books written by the ghostwriter. The impact of the book to pull you in like no novel has done before and tug at your heartstrings. Overall, I give this book 4 and a half stars for Lillian has some pretty good replys to arrogrant Bill Cutler that will leave you laughing.
Rating: Summary: Who's Darkest Hour Review: The book that I am reading " Darkest Hour " is at the same time exsillerating and frusterating.Three sisters share the same family, but of course there is always one bad apple in every bunch. This book by V.C.Andrews is one of those books you cant put down.I thought this book was very interesting because the humble person in the book is always having bad things happening to her. I highly recmmend this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Revolting Review: The rape scene between Lillian and her father/uncle is one of the most horrible things I have ever read. Any book that eroticizes rape should be put down immediately, but this entire book is just way painful with no good parts. The only reason to read this book is to escape reality, but why would anyone want to escape into such a horrible world? Definitely NOT recommended.
Rating: Summary: An amazing epic!!!! Review: This book is the best of the Cutler family saga, v.c. andrews never lets you down, this is an excellent, tragic, and terrifying story based on the life of a young girl who is tortured and who's life is ruined by cruel, malicious family members. I reccommend this book for anyone!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: This book was excellent!! I decided to read this book before I read the others in the series. This book shows a sense of cruelity towards women in the early 1900's.In this book, a girl by the name of Lilan is tortured by her own family and is raped by her father. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a bit of terror, romance and horror.
Rating: Summary: What's up with Lillian Review: This book was great, I felt so much sorrow for Lillian! But then I just found out... that is Grandmother Culter? The cold hearted woman you read about in the Dawn books? I can believe that what had happened to her would change her happiness forever but I would have thought she'd be a little bit more understanding to Dawn!
