Summary: Mistery, history and sensuality
Review: Overall, a nice book. Mystery and suspense, mixed with a bit of history and a bit of sensuality. At first, the "elixir of life" seemed too much a digression from reality, kind of hard to take the story seriously; but once you accept it and let the story take you, it gets more interesting. It would get even better if more historic facts were added, from Egypt's history, Roman Empire's history, and life in England and America by the beginning of the century. The end leaves too many hooks for a sequel, and too obviously. Still, I enjoyed reading it.

Summary: Great read!
Review: Because Anne Rice is better known for her vampire series, my first try was Queen of the Damned, and I was highly disappointed, but since I had already ordered The Mummy, I gaver Rice another try. This time, I was extremely surprised with this great story. I fell very much in love with its characters, and simply could not put the book down! I will read some of her novels, but I will still stay away from her vampire series.

Summary: Anne please take it easy.
Review: Even though I love Anne Rice's mysterious novels I found this novel dull. It lacked the mystery and the pizzazz of the Vampire series. The characters where a little distant and I felt a little disappointed. Ramses was interesting but lacking, and outside of the usual interesting philosophical arguments I could not befriend him.

Summary: The Mummy: A reveiw by a 13-year-old.
Review: The Mummy is the first book I ever read by Anne Rice. This is a wonderful book! It's filled with adventure, exsitment, romance, and terror. I'd recamend it to anyone. (Even my best friend who never reads and she loved it almost as much as I did!) I hope you read the book and enjoy it as much as I did!

Summary: Good...
Review: When I started reading it, I love Julie Stratford. She was a modern woman (back then) but when she fell in love with Ramses, she turned all soft. Overall, this book is nice but gets boring to the end.

Summary: WOW!
Review: Anne Rice is now one of my favorite authors of all time! Normally the long, detailed language of her novels-though written with wonderful precision-make my mind wander into one of its mental naps. This novel is fast-paced and filled with characters that are both unique and three dimensional. Even for those who are not fans of history-especially ancient history- will appreciate and enjoy the taste of ancient Eygpt that lives in this spectacular book. The conclusion is both unexpected and exciting. There is never a dull moment throughout this novel!

Summary: Good read but don't expect a "Vampire" book
Review: This was an interesting period novel but don't expect the frights, depth, darkness or creepiness of the Vampire series. Adjust your expectations and I think you'll find a good vacation page turner.

Summary: disappointment
Review: Having read The Vampire Lestat I was keen to learn more about the enigmatic immortals Rice mentions in that excelent book. But Ramses the Damned turned out to be a total disappointment. You have to wait for 200 pages for some action and even then it is predictable. Most of the time the book reminded me of some B-movie script. And there is no trace of the mysteries from Vampire Chronicles. It is supplanted by a sluggish blandness. I barely brought myself to finish it.

Summary: Anne Rice's Best
Review: I have read every one of Anne Rice's books, and this is by far her best. I love the way she takes factual people in history and puts them into a fictional setting. The story is so captivating it's almost believable. This book is a must read for anyone interested in a horror story with a romantic, shocking twist. Enjoy!

Summary: A Must Read!
Review: If you are looking for an excellent read, then I recommend this book. Contrary to Anne Rice's habit of sometime droning on to the point of mind numbingness (ex.Servant of the Bones & Memnoch the Devil), this book is a refreshing change. The story of Ramses and Cleopatra is especially enjoyable, I loved reading about their past (even if it is Rice's creative fiction). I also found the leading Lady, Julie quite enchanting. I thought the book was fast paced and very enlightening. I recommend this book wholeheartedly, and if you want to read another good book, read, The Witching Hour or Cry to Heaven.
